Well maybe i should have written a note when i did this the first time - i did think the manual would help but now i'm confused.
I'm wanting to do an oil change (CR80) and want the torque setting for the sump bolt. Have 2 different manuals here - one says 25 Nm the other 30 Nm.
Can someone help me out with the setting?

go for the lower setting but there is only 3.5 ft lbs (in the old money) between them http://www.boltscience.com/pages/convert.htm

Well what a dickhead i am - i've just realised i was looking in the wrong section of one of the manuals!! (in the 250/500cc section). So both books say 25 Nm

25nm is about 18 ft-lbs. 18.43 ft-lbs to be exact sounds about right make sure you have the copper washer or seal in place behind the plug and go for it!

Bike manuals - one is a Clymer & the other a Hanes for Honda Cr's (80cc to 500cc)
Am sorted now though as its 25 Nm - the 30 Nm i referred to was for a 250/500cc bike (i was looking in the wrong section)

HAha I think Crisis was having you on there LOL!!! Its ok its a man joke! LOL!!!
BTW you wouldn't have stripped it at 30nm (22 Ft-lbs) its only when you swing on it hard without any considration that you stuff it!

Thanks. I do enjoy doing it & want to learn more. Have been put on the spot though as the live in mechanic got deployed overseas for 6 months. Amazing what you can do when you have to.

oil change complete  hardest part was getting the sump bolt undone! Jst don't have the strength, plus the bike kept moving.

Next time, lie the bike on its side. Will make it easyer to losen the bolt. Then stand the bike up and fully undo the sum plug.
