Hi All
As you know there is only a couple of weeks to the 5th and final round of the Nationals run at Hampton Downs.
The practice day on the 26th will start at 1pm and go through to 7pm. We have done this at the request of a number of riders as it means one less day of accomodation for some as it gives them time to travel.
It also means there is a lot of time to set up you possies for the weekend without having to rush and do it really early in the morning or whilst you are trying to set your bikes up.
You'll be able to get into the grounds at the usual times though.
Look forward to seeing you all there!!!!!

Yup. Not too many people impressed (both islands and ends of) with the practice day times at Manfield. If you want to ride from 1 to 7 show up at 1...

The entry form says $12 for extra entry tickets so I presume that will be the going rate for spectators.

I couldn't find much info about the combined test day and classic meeting being held on Sunday so I emailed and got this response - FYI
You may enter on the day – the fee will be $175.00 as opposed to $155.00 for pre-enter. If you want to pre-enter you can scan the entry form and email it to me at this email address or fax the entry to AMCC 09-579-3106. Either way please bring the original to the meeting on Sunday.
The purpose of the meeting is three-fold. As Hampton Downs is new to most people, it is a test day for the officials of the Auckland Motorcycle Club going into the NZ Superbike Champs at the end of the month; as well as a round of the No 1 Plate competition for the Post Classic classes and an opportunity for those competitors wanting to familiarised and test setups for Hampton Downs.
The programme is not set in concrete as yet but thoughts are that there will be practice sessions for all classes followed by Post Classic races separated by test sessions (10-15 mins.) for the Championship classes.
We plan to start sign-on at 7:30am and start the first practice at 9am and we will probably go through till 5.30pm to 6pm

Practice starts at 0900 hrs on Saturday and there will be one round of racing as well.

What pit facilities are available up there? I have obviously never been. Are power points plentiful? or is a generator advisable. Is there heaps of room for putting up tents etc?

It is VERY basic and there is no power available Maido. You need a generator and as far as pit space goes it somewhat limited if you want to be where you don't have to drive over course gravel to get to the track. As was stated at the open track day last Monday, it is still a construction site and you need to treat it as such. Apart from that, the track itself is awesome and a lot of fun :-)

Well, it looked like a good round today. I'm not a racer, but as a spectator I enjoyed the views of the track from up betwen the hairpin and pit-entry. I hope somebody reads posts 7 & 8 in this thread and ADVERTISES THE BLOODY RACING. I had to trawl though 4 websites and then I found the times in a news article as "races usually start at about 9:30". FFS, I want to come & watch, but somebody makes it bloody difficult...
Good to see manufacturers/dealers there with stands & kit. And it looks like somebody was paying attenion when I said (a year ago?) that I'd buy a T-shirt from any rider with one for sale. I've now got a Stroudy 09/10 season T and 2 posters for my boys. No autograph, but the man was much in demand, and I didn't even get to see him race cos #2 son had had enough by the lunchbreak, and he was asleep in the back by the time I hit the motorway. Bless 4 y-os, eh? If you had Ts for sale and I didn't buy one, then I apologise, but I did do a lap of the pits.
From a spectator's point of view, the circuit is great, and will better when they've finished it and put in the missing seating and ice-cream stalls. The pits gravel and the grid markings on the straight may be a bit iffy, and the cats-eyes on the pit-lane entry more than slightly scary-looking, but they're all very fixable. The carpark looked full when I left, so I think that with a bit of advertising they should be able to make a fair-sized traffic jam next year. Just start the racing a bit earlier, please!
Well done to all who let it hang out today. I hope it went well for you.
