View Full Version : Work vehicle 1 - Harley riding lane splitter 0

...and this kids, is why following too close to a lane splitting emergency vehicle under lights and sirens is a BAD thing.
Having a patched bike rider hit the rear of my vehicle at ~50km/h on the Southern m'way this arvo, was a great way of:
1) Scaring the shit out of me, my offsider and a medical team
2) Delaying the transport of a very ill person
3) Taking a work vehicle off the road for near on 3 hours to do paperwork and settle nerves.
Said rider picked his bike up and decamped before we could get details or ascertain injury. Thankfully my vehicle was okay, as were all the occupants.
'nuff said - please proceed to bag Harleys/Emergency vehicles/Gerbils - I've said my bit.

I'd say doing gods work....
i.e one less Harley on the road and one less patched member on the road.
The only downer on the whole event must have been the delay for your patient and the damage to the vehicle!

Seeing as he had no rego plate when he decamped, I guess the authorities will probably either have recovered a stolen plate, will recover a stolen bike or at least find one sore little boy.

I believe he would have been deliberately following the ambulance as the traffic moves aside for them.
Probably spied a fine looking honey in a car he was passing that required some perving at, and while he was busy doing so hit the ambo.
Happens all the time.

Yeah, the beauty of it is that it looks like he laid the bike down and sent it across 3 lanes of traffic, and it's been him that hit the vehicle. Not a scratch on the vehicle thankfully. Huge cloud of debris, so it's gonna be pretty broken - I feel really sorry for him.
No really.
I do.

As the gentleman in question bolted without the assistance of the 'on-the-spot' Ambo's I don't think ACC will be required.

Brilliant! Tiz a shame he took off actually, he could have been advised to call it a rugby injury, coz if any group needs to pay ACC levies it's gotta be sports freaks.

I suppose you could say he was 'tackling' the ambulance.
And what is it with people on here tarring all with the same brush. I'm wondering just how many actually take the time to have a good look at themselves before they go passing judgement.
this guy could in fact be a University Professor who in his spare time happens to belong to a group of Motorcyclists who just happen to have a name and wear said name upon their backs. What was that old saying....yeah, never judge a book by it's cover.

LOL still in fits there Col, wonderful analogy! Pity is, he will most probably need "patching" up sooner or later and either way that costs us all more.

I have done it my self; followed an ambulance in rush traffic. It is like being led by Moses through the Red Sea. And you need to stay really close as others will cut in very quickly. But you need to stay awake. Clearly he lost focus. His bad. Not sure what it has to do with his choice of clothing thou, or make of bike?

I've done it too.
Following my Wife and 30 minute-old Son to Hospital after "complications". I was driving the midwifes LandCruiser so no one cut in...
It was fun. (Wrong way around traffic islands and all that...)
