Like the title said this is a bit of a vent due to an overwhelming urge to punch some one in the head!
To cut a long story short, there was a bike on trademe, made the guy an offer, he said yes. Score!
Were in Palmy hes in Hamilton. organised to come up and pick up yesterday bc he was going away for the wknd...fair enough. (for those of you not familiar with the drive its a good 5hr trip each way) so off we go, the closer we get the more my other half is considering heavy sedation on my part lol (come on its my first bike-its exciting!!!)
ok so were in Hamilton we text the guy and say well be 30mins, he texts back and says "whos this?" were like "the ppl coming to pick up the bike"...20mins later no answer. got to MR Motors and rang him, bugger me his phone is off?
so in we go to hand over the moolah and put the bike on the ute...hang on wheres the bike? Hold up, WHERES THE GUY?!
The 'owner' of the workshop said his 'mate' was storing the bike at his workshop til it sold but he came and picked it up on Thurs night....AND HES GONE AWAY FOR THE WEEKEND!!! :shit:

after ringing his phone a million times it was either off or let to go to voicemail. SON OF A!!!

Now if your still reading and you were this wanker would you not have the decency to text me at least and say "hey, sorry got a better offer." NOT and I Repeat NOT let us waste our god damn time spending a good 10+ hours on the road, plus petrol (in an 06 holden crewman not cheap!)

Ok rant over, just extremely slutted-first bike and all. i wont mention the members name but if your friends with some one in Hamilton who just sold a VT250, tell them i say hi!:motu:

I know the feeling...
Leave a fully detailed rant on trademe, what happened and what he did more than your feelings about it. The facts will be a better read rather than what you think of him. People don't empathise with how you felt, but they will think about what the facts were and what it could mean to them.

That truly sucks. What a total timewaster. Do put the facts up on trademe.

And it is particularly gutting when it is your first bike- they ARE special!

im not that familiar with the ins and outs of trade me it was the other halfs account and he said something about bc the listing had no reserve or buy now it just had the price or near offer you cant do the bad feedback bc you havent actually won an auction...or something like that. i think my partners going to look at makin a complaint to trade me. and youre right, regardless of how i feel about this tit i just dont want someone else being dicked around by him.

Post your bitch on TradeMe so that others don't suffer the same b/s. I would think the operators of the site would like to know about it too. I have bought everything from three bikes to our house on TM and never had a hassle, so I'd say nail the wanker. He'll give TM a bad name and people like yourself will stop using the site or at least be wary of it. Not kosher.

As it happens I flew to Auckland to buy my bike and it was everything the guy said it was. I rode it home. There are some honest folks left, don't despair.

Breach of Contract. You could send him an invoice for your time and expenses - then refer it to Baycorp for fun.

Better to move on though.

I hit the buynow on a car a few years back, Bought a plane ticket to Auckland, Left teh seller a message saying I was on my way.

He said Can't do it, already sold it to a mate, Just haven't pulled the add.

I said fuck no, Get it back off him, Im on my way.

Funny enough he did, went and took the car back and sold it to me. I would have told me to get fucked.

so it was a classified ad not an auction.A contract has still been made.It will be easier to prove that a contract has been made if there are emails but a spoken contract is still binding, just harder to prove.

i was just thinking that. we still have texts from him and us agreeing on price and place to pick up etc. our main point is to just let ppl know to be a bit careful with this one. its not so much about 'nailing' him but bad feedback usually does more damage and will hopefully make him pull his head out next time...hopefully

I'm not shy! when you've settled this thing one way or another(heard from the cretin, at least) then post his name up here and in tardme, we all of us need to know who we can trustAND who we CAN'T.
Head up and keep yer eyes peeled. Genie and peasea are both right, the bike for you will be better than this one ever was.

I really dont see why he shouldnt pay for your gas + time and/or deliver the bike himself or pay for delivery. what a douche. i would not give up so easily. follow up. make him pay.

inconsiderate bastard. i know how much gas those crewmans use. its just not fair on you if you have to do it all over again (you'd be an idiot if you do).

btw a little bit of a louder tone on the phone gets the point through quicker.

You and me both mate! That really is not on! Report to Tardme in the first instance, then name and shame on here.

Man, that really is not on, but you have to weigh up the energy you need to expend getting this bloke back against moving on to finding something that will fit you like a glove, because for sure this bike was not for you.

I have to agree with Genie on this one, coz unfortunately/fortunately it happened to me. Price agreed on, pick up arranged etc then he calls me the day of the pick up to tell me hes just sold it to someone else, WTF??!

That was an 02 ZX6, I ended up with an 04 R6 instead:woohoo:

That's pretty shithouse mate, I feel ya pain. Just a few days ago I drove to Auckland to trade my 3 series BMW coupe with an E39 525 sedan (misses is preggy so need a 4 door), suss out all the details oh each others car, I (pay) to do a check on carjam to make sure not stolen & clear title etc. Told him to be straight up about the cars faults as im driving a long way & ill see them when I arrive anyway so better to tell me prior as I just won't do the deal, he said he told me everything he knew about it. I arrive, take it for a spin down the southern motorway & the farking gearbox is quite obviously rooted, shudders like buggery in top when you step on the gas, making a terrible noise & has a pretty big ding on the right rear quarter that was never mentioned, just said a few shopping trolley dents. I get back to his work & question him about the gearbox, all he says was "oh sorry, I didn't know". Pfffff you didn't, the prick was driving from Henderson to the city everyday in it for the 3 weeks he owned it! There sure is some arkin wankers out there mate. Wasn't all lost as I lined up the clown (a computer store) who sold me a laptop with an illegal copy of Windows 7 Ultimate on it & went to two of my fav restaurants before driving home

i had the same thing happen to me a few years back, i bought a little old fiat, was living in wellington at the time so bought flights to akl,
turned up in akl and the guy refused to tell me his address to pick up the car, so i had to buy another car to get back to wellington
(thankfully it turned out to be a blessing in disguise) but then to top it off the fucker gave me bad feed back on trademe as well,
fun times

Gah, i hear the hate you're throwing around. Conversely though, i've had buyers pull out of purchases which sluts me something rotten as i've told others that it was sold and wouldn't be taking any more offers.

Shameless plug: You don't want my Hornet 250 (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php/119347-Hornet-250-interest)do you? ;)

I see Quasi and TK3 know who it is .
Name the dickhead, that's a totally ratshit thing to do and he should be outed.
I sure as hell would like to know in case I come across him.

From what TK3 says, sounds like you were lucky to not buy the shitbox though.
Something better will come up.
Maybe next time, see if they're prepared to meet you half way.

TK3- I actually believe you! when i originally wrote the first post i said the 'owner' was storing it for his 'mate' and named the place (granted i said MR motors lol i meant M & R) when we we left we had a feeling that he was the dickhead selling it. son of a!!

Quasi- thank you very much for the offer lol instead just promise not to take your car there if it needs to be fixed. probably not as fun as dishing out an arse whooping sorry.

for everyone else thank you for your support, complaint has been made to trademe and your all right, that was not meant to be...however i am going to look at one here in palmy tonight...fingers crossed

Folks can I ask a couple of questions. Keep in mind I sell about 30 vehicles a month.
Did you make an appointment to meet at a certain time and place to view/purchase the bike?
Did you contact the seller to say we are leaving NOW we'll see you in 5-6 hours?

I"m not saying in any way that this seller is honest just that I hear it/read it regularly from "customers" that they will be right back--will head on in to buy that vehicle. One in 10 actually turn up.

Yea no fair enough, we did definately arrange a time and place to meet (we didnt want to drive all that way if he wasnt there...) we text him the night before and everything was all good both ends. text in the morning and when we were just outta hamilton and then all of a sudden he didnt answer.and the drama unfolded from there.

XT network again lol. What a piss off,and inconveniance as you've stated, hell my(first) bike was about 50km away, rang night before, rang on leaving and all was good, although his wife wasn't too happy about test rides, they had a quad which a guy took up the road and crashed, write off and uninsured as not road legal(obviouslly),they sued the guy through small claims of iirc the guy he hit insurance sued the test pilot.

I just did a deal to buy a bike of a guy in Onga Onga HB.
He said cash or bank cheque- I said fine

I needed to get the bike by this weekend and didnt have the required funds in the bank till the 20th of this month.
I started hitching to Hawkes Bay on Wednesday morning at 8.00 am- called in to Marac Finance on the way.

Because Im good for it- I walked out with a Marac Cheque made out in his name within an hour and continued travelling on my thumb.
It was a hard days hitching and I finally got to where the bike was at his mates farm in the middle of nowwhere at 7.30 pm. bike was there - I was happy with it-

He wouldnt accept Marac Finance Company's cheque!!!! - he turned me around and sent me home with no deal after 11 hours of hitching! as the sun was going down he gave me instructions to head home 400km and get the cash.
WTF is the difference between a finance company's cheque and a bank's cheque? they are both finance institutions and not personal cheques!!!

Needless to say - It may take me a week or two to find another suitable bike - but at least he is not getting my money.
by the way- it turns out that he is on here- so don't feel all cosy just because you are dealing with a KBer-

Geez Weta that sucks, he doens't know that a finance Companies cheque (OK there are some dozy ones) But MARAC isn't good enough. Well once again, if he's that damn stupid he doesn't sdeserve your money and you most likely shoudn't have got that bike good luck finding another bike and an appreciateive owner.

Guessing it was mine you looked at? would have been good if you let me know you weren't interested (goes both ways you know) ;) . But no worries, yours will be out there somewhere, I pretty much narrow my search down to between welli and HB (and honda too I might add!) to avoid too much wasted time and petrol money if the deal goes pear shaped, and it must work cos I haven't ended up with a crap bike yet :D
