Unusual result, but fortunately the right one.
That poor 70 year old guy must have been sweating buckets about what might happen to him.

If there's sense left to be found in the country today it';; be found in a 70 year old southland dude.

Its indicative of how easy it is to end up in court these days, so the judge showed a lot of common sense, but not before the old fella went through the wringer, got to put the common sense in from the start. Think twice before you Intervene is the messgae, but dont shy away when you can make a difference but be aware of the cost to thyne self.

His wife was at the time dying of cancer, she's since died. It was a nightmare for them both and should never have happened. The Police won't say why they brought the charges, but of course he's now assessing whether to carry on driving a school bus. He said it's reached the point where a bus driver is tempted to stop the bus, get off and leave the kids to it!
PC gone crazy stupid! (Along with some of the kids!)

Was a time Southland cops were permitted common sense. I remember being the beneficiary of just such on many occasions.
We've lost a lot in the name of the aorta brigade.

oh that is terrible ...should this gentleman have pulled the hair of a young lass when he was 12 he would have earnt himself a right good ear tweeking yet today, he pulls a lads arm and ends up being arrested for it.
Charges were most likely pursued by the parents of the young lad in question....being rather indignant of how dare this old man touch our son when he was only doing what boys do....boys will be boys. Give the parents a wee taste of jail also.
I tell ya, should one of my young boys behave in this way I would have no problem in an adult nearby giving them a quick clip around the ears or at least a severe growling.
I was pleased to see that the judge handed down the best possible sentence and I hope they left the young fella in the cells for at least 2 hours.
