I noticed yesterday that a couple of red backlights behind my Rev counter have gone out on my 96 hornet.

Are they easy to replace? I haven't actually started looking yet I just need to know whether to suss out some help or not.

Cheers in advance

Anyone had this problem before?

While your hornet is possibly not at all like my bike, I've had some instrument lights blow. If they're anything like mine, they'll be VERY hard to get hold of, being a very weird wattage for their size (most are 3W, but the Honda ones are 1.7W). None were in stock, even at the Honda dealers, so I had to order mine from overseas. However, recentlyish, I happened to ask an autoelectrician in Albany for some, and he had some that were very similar (slightly lower wattage, and less than half the price).
As for replacement, mine were very dificult to access: I had to remove the windscreen, mirrors, front fairing cowling, and some other stuff. Yours should be considerably easier.

i always make a point of changing all mine to led's when i have one blow, then you never have the problem again :D

A good practice. :niceone:
There are some LEDs which are a direct replacement for dash bulbs, They're a bit dearer, but as Hmmmmmmmnz said, they're pretty much permanent, plus thye come in a range of colours.

Yea that could be a good idea, LED's are usually brighter as well aren't they?

so white instrument panels, but what colour lights to go behind?
