Night wars this Friday night at Meremere. Is any body keen? I took the V8 hiace down last time and it was to slow so takin the CBR900 this time to see what it will do. Good fun and isnt that expensive.

$15 gets you in the gate and i think its $40 to race or you can just watch. Need Licence and Current WOF to race.

Saddly the FZR doesn't have much clutch left, and the SRX is still non-runner. But will see if I can drag the misses down in the focus and give you guys some support.

CRF119-

Should get your 2 boys with r1's to run, i ran the 6hundo at the last meet, was taking it real easy compared to other meets though.
When did you get a 900 blade? guess you sold the bandit?

We should meet up sometime man.

Ill be racing at the one after the next.
I'd be running at the drags this friday but have got big boys toys at mystery creek to go to on sat/sun. If your out at that come say hi, ill be at the street bike stunting area with my 50stunter or 600 or maybe both.

Btw, got a goal for your times/trap speed?

Yea may see if they want to run.

Yea bandit was way to slow kinda gettnig boared of the blade now to and its been 4 months.

I wont be at the boys day out ill be out wakeboarding like every weekend.

Umm im told if i run slower then a 11 sec i sux so it better be faster then that or i wont hear the end of it. I have no idea of trap speed Hi ace was around 170 so im guessing 220 not to sure really.

To be honest man i'd be real suprised if you ran sub 11....
Magazines did back in the day on the 900 blades but at meremere in real world its harder than you'd think.(not saying it cant be done though).

If your ruuning stock height and you run under say 11.5 and trap 200+ then thats pretty impressive based on what ive run and seen at a fair few meetings.

900 blade will be close to a well ridden modern 600, real world good rider low 11's 205kmh.
Magazines late 10's 210kmh+.

Yea i said 12 or less but i guess ill find out. Also there is less grip on the strip so im told i should get wheel spin. Should be interesting.

Take the R1

I ran a 10.86 on my 900RRW last November... So as long as you launch it right you should easily do sub 12.

I'm keen to head out to these drags for a spin, how often do they hold them?

What strip was that at? Alot of fast times are run in the lower north and south island meremere is shit, the surface varies so much between meetings.

Some of the older sports bikes are actually alot easier to run a fast E.T on, lower gearing and not as much of a no bottom end then ape shit in the top power delivery.
For instance my 600 on stock gearing does 140 in 1st so its either bogg it off the line or launch it at the top and give yourself the shits.

The difference where you notice the speed difference with the newer bikes is trap speed, which is 'real' bike speed. A fast ET is all about the start, stock motor 600's have run 9.9-10.1.

Now that i think about it i may run on friday night, just do my practices then gap it.
See yous there..Maybe.

Have a look on www.dragwars.co.nz for dates. theres one more after this, then winter dragwars on sundays during the day.

I had my 2000 GSXR750 at Meremere and was running constant sub11's(my best was 10.64 at 217kph) .... It all comes down to the first 60ft(i think that's the first marker... please correct me if i'm wrong), if you get there in under 2secs you're on your way to a good time... there are a few little tips and tricks but i'm keeping them under my hat :D

edit: was a bog standard bike with standard gearing too... Murder on the clutch but good results :)

Um.. sub 10's means under 10, as in 9's. sub 11's is what you call a 10second run.
Yip and fast 60ft = fast time.
Seen a late model k6/7 ish gsxr750 run a 9.9 @228k at meremere.
Also to anyone going look out for a turbo busa... utter badness haha.

Sounds like your scared to try launch properly which is where the time is made (revlikeshit). Ive got it down on the road but strip will be sumthing new. Front wheel hovering for first 2 gears. Guess ill see how it goes. Clucth control is key just like in mx start.

Scared to launch? even though ive run at a heap more meetings than you have....
Ive run maybe 50 odd passes on a bike at meremere, how many have you done?

600's with 140kmh 1st gears and short ass wheelbases arent exactly designed for dragracing.
Last time at the drags i wasnt trying to run fast, i was lifting at the 1000ft mark and not launching to try sort out a easy dial in time for compitition.

If i wasnt busy with boys day out i'd come adn show you how its done.Haha

That was run in the Carterton sprints on a closed road, pretty mint conditions. First experience of standing & flying quarters.

I see what your saying about gearing... By memory, im clicking into second around 90k's, so yep...

Cheers for the link, i'm getting torn for my birthday this friday so no riding, but I'll head out for another meet... Had a blast last time.

I was watching a "have a go" day of my mate in his Monaro, he was racing bikes and all flavours of cars. It made me think that maybe I should take mah Hornet and have a go, or would I be kinda laughed at? :(

It just looked fun, watching the drags... But I have no idea how to do fast take offs etc. :(

So who went? I did was a ok night once the drizzle stopped and the track dried a bit. Got my 3 runs in then it rainned so didn't get to do any of the races. I Ran a 11.2 @197km/h on my 1999 CBR900RR I was dissipointed because that run i had a shit launch so it is cappable of a high 10. Got the lights timming perfect with my runs having 0.14, 0.030, 0.060 reaction times

What was your 60ft on that run? 1/8th and trap speed in the 1/8th.

Do they still run a bike class? or is it dependant on howmany turn up?

they still have the bike classes, but it now Dial your own times, not a straight race, i took a bog standard 08 ZX10R when we had one as a demo, on teh demo plate and just over 1000km on the clock, did a 10.49, it is all in the launch, and i was slipping the clutch for a while, never got it out of 3rd gear either
