No surprise really as on the news the other day how the gun lobbyist want to be able to wear sidearms all the time where ever they are and Starbucks coffee shops etc supporting it...

One fucked up country if you ask me, they have brought this on themselves...

Don't get me wrong is sad indeed, pointless death because they think guns protect them?

Let me get this straight. The parents of this girl let her play Wii with a pistol shaped controller, then they leave a loaded pistol on a coffee table where she can easily reach it, and her mother is sitting just a few feet away when the girl shoots herself in the abdomen?

That is stupidity beyond comprehension...

Stupid AND suspect!

The questions have to be asked.....
Can a three year old possibly fire a .380 caliber pistol - I have no idea about guns.
Is there a Wii game where you shoot yourself? If anything Mum should've been shot if the three year old was in fact mimicking a Wii game.

But you have to aim the gun at the TV to play Wii?
Something tells me this kid was going to fail either way

You could question that couldn't you Stirts.. just sit there and watch, life insurance?? dont know if they would pay out but some people will try anything... yes a 3yr could fire the gun.

Your right would of been justice if mum or dad got shot instead.

There mentality with guns is crazy.

Yeah - because confusing a gun with a Wii controller is the only thing you have to worry about when leaving a loaded gun around on the dining table.

I assume that the founding fathers couldn't possibly believe that they would have people that stupid when drawing up the constitution.

Perhaps that was the dad's master plan that literally backfired - does Nintendo have a game called Shoot Couch Potato Mommy?

The 2,500,000 americans who's use of a firearm prevented themselves becoming the victim of a crime last year would disagree with you.

So would the residents of the 21 US states with crime rates much much lower than ours.

Perhaps mommy was just a little stoned? Oh well, lesson learned ay! :niceone:

I think it's funny that people do stupid shit like that. It used to bother me, but now I just remember it's not my problem.

I see another American trying to put a lawsuit over a big company.

Question: If the gun was loaded and was ready to be used (meaning cocked), what the fuck kind of a dad would put a loaded and cocked gun on the table? Surely 3 year old couldn't have cocked it it. Nor the Wii don't teach how to cock a gun.

Yeah, its stupid to leave firearms around like that. But us dumb kiwis dont even have the right to carry one of carvers dildoes in self defence. We run around saying "gee its lucky we arent like america...".

But actually we might be luckier if we were.

Am I the only one that noticed that the guy woke up thinking there was a prowler in the house, loaded the gun, then left it on the coffee table?! WTF!! Here, come and rob us and if you don't have your own weapon, let me supply you with one! Shame it was his innocent daughter that got killed, but reading between the lines the family genes were against her from the start.

..kiwis dont even have the right to carry one of carvers dildoes in self defence. There's a mobile coffee shop over here with one clipped to the wall above the serving area. He said he was "asked" about it by the police, so he told them what it was for. Seemingly quite legal, provided it's not concealed. I asked the guy if he had the opportunity to "show" it to anyone, but he hadn't.

What, and use fear as a control?

Shit happens. Sad yes and as someone else mentioned I'm sure there will be a lawsuit.

That said, while I've never owned a gun, I will never deny others to own one. In fact my great aunt who lived on her own in a rural area of Washington prevented a home robbery once by bringing out her shotgun, hate to think what could have happened to her had she not had it.

I wish Nintendo get a good lawyer and end up charging the father for manslaughter.

I wonder if it's even an official Nintendo product, plenty of knock offs out there.

Yes of course. What else stops a scumbag from his intended bad behaviour ? His good nature perhaps ?

What, and use fear as a control?Fear is the only useful control. Not everyone is your mate, in fact most people want to push you over and take your shit and make it theirs. Better we got used to that idea and competed fully in society, and forget the idea that being polite to everyone will get you anything.

All things considered i think this country has per head far more problems than the mericans,if the states is a fucked up country then sadly NZ is in the process of out doing them.

The graphs can be read any way you want. A country as huge as the US with such a massive population has equally huge disparity depending on where you live. A statistic released shortly after 9/11 claimed 3250 people per week died from gunshot wounds in the US, not all criminal. Some areas will have virtually no crime, others will be like war zones. How much crime goe's unreported because the Police will not follow up in ethnic parts of citie's?
Gun's are only good for one thing & it's not stopping crime.

Might be luckier if we lived in Japan to, what's gun ownership and crime like over there compared to America? I see them bottom of the scale on one chart and don't even feature on the others

Those statistics don't really prove anything, might just be a higher reporting rate in the countries up the top

The third highest gun ownership country in the world is Switzerland, with 46 guns per 100 people (after the US and Yemen)
They have some of the lowest ratings in the lists in post #15

Yeah, but that's because the entire population of the country is in the army...still it shows that the problem isn't the gun it's the idiot holding the thing.

What's that quote about gun control being the ability to put two rounds through the same hole for 25 yards?
