I am thinking of holding a family friendly ride day to a closeish destination where we can set up for the day, have a bbq, maybe hold a sack race or egg and spoon race etc etc... possibly i will take a mini bike and a helmet (if council allows) for the kids to have supervised rides.
As this will be a family day it seems to me that it would be easier and more sucessfull if mum or dad brought 1 kid on the bike and we encouraged the other parent bring the rest of the family in the car.
I have not got a firm date in mind but maybe Sunday 18th April. It will depend on the numbers that want to go, same goes for the destination.
Anyone that is interested please indicate your interest on here. I will only orginise it if there is enough interest.

Sounds like an excellent plan, if you find somewhere trail bike friendly I could bring one for the bigger kids to play on as well.

Hey R1, sounds like a fantastic idea :)
We camped out at Hurunui river a month or so back, there is lots of space and there were some youngsters with trail bikes heading off to near by tracks. Maybe that could be a destination to consider?
Also, if its possible to organise a few cars to carry gear that may allow for a few more folk to ride... see how things pan out :)
Cheers
Em :)

ok there seems to be a bit of interest so i will check out some venues, hallswell quarry sounds like a good one tho... i have a soft spot for model trains myself... and i will start the process of checking with the council about booking an area. I have a minimoto i will bring for kids to ride but if anyone knows of a pw50 or similar we could borrow as well and maybe a kids quad that would be cool. I will try to get some of the wholesalers on board and hope to be able to give away a kids bike jacket or similar as a spot prize. To enter you will only need to turn up.
I will supply the van for any gear that needs taken but would like to do a enmass collection on the Saturday afternoon so i am not running around like an idiot trying to get everyones stuff sorted.
Cruza cheers for the offer to transoprt the bbqs. I was going to hire them but if you know of a couple o big ones we could borrow let me know.

Its Halswell park not the quarry so no trains there. The park is where Halswell Rugby League club is situated
