Great idea to earn a living off biking - but the big but is how much would one make after buying a late model bike and costs of running up 85,000 kms or so per year. Petrol, chains, sprockets, brake pads, tyres, insurances etc and all the drama per year. Anyone seen the advert? I think it would be good if it was $150,000. Anyone done motorcycling couriering full time?

Interesting.
I presume it's this one: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-me-jobs/Transport-logistics/Drivers-couriers/Courier/listing-277202382.htm?key=492133
Where did you get the figures from (85000km and $60K)?
CBD and City fringe you'd want a scooter anyway - twist and go.

No-- it,s the one in Hamilton.--one might be able to talk up the payment a bit and get a WINZ free Enterprise grant of $10,000 for self employment and maybe a goer if first year is a real high earner. Probably have to replace bike every year.

Ah, I see the one now.
I'd still go maxi-scooter over chain driven bike. Is that second bike a Lifan?
$5K plus GST/month might be alright. It'd depend on the package (i.e. do you have to pay for the GPS and signwriting and stuff).

TBH, doing that in city all day would be boring.
40 hours of commuting style riding every week?
Sorry I'm a team player.

I always thought that would be a cool job. It's not a postal delivery job it's urgent packages only.

They've got a Ninja 250 and a VFR400 there fully signwrited.
Surely a small car would be better unless it's to beat traffic.
It's fully on commission the job, so wonder how much you'd actually get.
