The one Satherly owns.

We were told we had to fit a handlebar kill switch to it prior to racing. We did, and lo and behold, it couldn't handle the bumps around Wangy.......
We were constantly on full noise, and it would cut out, wait a split second then go on full tit again........... then it would come on full noise (as the wrist was twisted right round). Well, going through the 1st ess at Wangy, it fucked around, then up the short straight it died, then back on full power with no room for error at the 2nd esses!!!! The result: broken tailbone, 3 broken ribs and a big whole in my wallet!! Steve Wells t-boned me directly after the accident as the flags weren't able to get out in time. His swinger Blue fell off, and Steve went over the bars with the impact of hitting me rolling on the ground. His sidecar went right down to the flower beds and hit a car!! They subsequently brought in the wrist kill switch for sidecars after this.

The mind of an ex airline pilot at work, (yes, he actually is) as far as Scrivy is concerned, everything is saveable up until its a smoking wreckage.

yeah Blue copped a broken collar bone.
why would they insist on a kill switch when it wasn't the rules then? also youre right about wells bike hitting a car. Tony Hughes a wanganui club official was sitting watching from his car opposite the flower garden with his son in teh front seat. on seeing the crewless outfit coming down the road he fired up his car and drove it out in front of it to stop it!!!
not a bad deed at the time really when you think about it

You had to have a handlebar kill switch. Mine came from Aus with only a lanyard on the left leg. Still had the same effect.

NZ has to be different.

This story has been told for many years to new sidecar racers, and is etched in sidecar folklore.
But what gets me ,as the story has been told. Is why did Tony put his car between the sidecar a a long line of Compressors on wheels(Harleys), he shold have let them get run over.

yeah that would've been funny all the bogans looking for the riders of the bike that ran them over when it dropped its crew off 150metres down the road.
would've been frenzy, like two blind lesbians in a fish and chip shop!!
