G'day peeps, newb here, Murray's the name, been in Oz for 4 years now and just when I thought we were settled, along came an opportunity in Auckland...
So, if we come, what is the recommendation regarding dirtbikes, can I bring them or is it too much hassle?
Both are late model KTM MX'ers, so not looking to register them, any advise or tips would be most appreciated.

If your not going to register them i cant see any hassle just make sure they are well cleaned before so they don't get caught up in MAF seen a few people put them in their containers with all the rest of there house hold stuff to get them here. ( id put them well in the middle not sure the guy down at the wharfs are the most honest bunch )

bikes seem to be a bit pricier over there so maybe it'd be worth selling them over there and upgrading when you arrive here?

Yeah, I moved to Sydney last year and noticed that as well, with the exchange rate taken into account you'd possibly get the equivalent or later model machine for a slightly better deal. Take a look at the NZ website 'trademe' to get an indication of the going rate for used dirt bikes. After you see what your aussie dollar will get ya after conversion you may be pleasantly surprised.

When i was sniffing around for a kxf450 here in oz (06-07) I was looking at around 6000AUD for a reasonable one, mine in nz i got for 4500NZD (around 3400AUD) that was well over a year ago too............

New Zealand's biosecurity is pretty stringent. No mud, no vegetable matter, no insects, or you'll find yourself paying to get MAF clean your bikes for you. They may well fumigate them as a precaution anyway.
