Meh, Had a cunt of a time trying to buy my bike, To the point I asked ANZA to return our funds and stick the bike and their bullshit back up their arsehole. Instead of taking a second to contemplate the loss of a 20 grand sale they just continued to dribble bullshit like a broken record. Fuckers.
Of wait, Good examples.
Well, I bought a bike from an Auckland shop, The purchase was a bit meh, Didn't put me off but I'll be in no hurry to give them preferred treatment when its time to buy again. Nor would I bother to recommend them, Don't know if I was just meant to be dazzled by all the bikes or something.
Had her serviced at the Triumph dealer in New Plymouth, The girl who handled it was hot and knew more about what I wanted then I did. So thumbs up to them.
Did I mention that ANZA can suck my big black smelly balls?

Certainly looked after the Mrs when she was in the market for an SE Bonnie. They even brought a demo bike up to Palmy for her to ride. Came back to drop off the new bike and take away her trade. Top service, great deal and would certainly go back there again!:2thumbsup

Been very happy with the service at Avon City Suzuki and Sportzone Suzuki in ChCh. Pitlane/cycletreads-an aquired taste, but worth it to deal with people who know what they are on about.

Wish cycletreads would open up a shop in Welly - heard nothing but good things about these guys.
This is not a shot at the local Welly shops but, if you have read another recent thread about bike shops, cycletreads seem to be doing all the things that customers say they want.
Never been to the store but I did buy a givi screen from them over the phone. The bloke on the phone was amazingly helpfull with checking that it would be right for my bike. Definately get a thumbs up from me.

I get on well with the chaps at Holeshot and think they're great, so much so I want to get a bike brand they stock so I can continue going there. MR motorcycles manager was a top bloke when I dealt with him and he was very very helpful in getting me my new jacket.
Not so good, Cyclespot. Had some good experiences with the parts guys but some shockers with the sales reps when I was after a new bike and the service department.
Overall though, I get looked over a lot because I am fairly young and don't look like have much money. It's a shame, as I have a good job that pays ok and am generally willing to spend $.

Back when Motorad used to be Motorad and Boyle Kawasaki they used to be so good. They used to have a large range of gear, luggage, and other bits and pieces. Motorad is still excellent for parts and servicing but I guess for the other stuff we in Wellington just have to shop online now. Also, there is a good wee bike shop next to the Basin Reserve with pleasant service and a wide range of miscellaneous odds and ends

AMPS must be the worst
When I was looking for my Bonnie, I had the mis-fortune to go in there.
Took a mate (male) with me.
The sales man kept asking him what he wanted, he said more than once "ask her, its her bike"
So the salesman looked at him & said "well, what does she want"
I said "I want you to go fuck yourself" and walked out
Brought my brand new bike from ANZA

Gotta say that I/we had a very similar experience with AMPS.
Walked in, kicked some tyres and was approached by a salesman ummmmmmmmmm never.
Walked out after having a good look around, not a one even spoke a word.

Suzuki dealer in Chch :niceone: Manchester St I think
Any shop that stays open at 5:30 on a friday night for 3 wet bikers and offers you a coffee and a towel gets my vote, mind you I spent a couple a hundy.
Also Murry Thorn here in little ole Mot, not much stock but good at getting stuff in quickly

Sportzone in Manchester St are up there for sure....as are the Suzuki guys in Hornby, maybe a bit more-so----. I make a habit of avoiding Casbolt's Honda in Manchester St ( The most unwelcoming Honda shop in NZ in my book) ...and Norjo Kawasaki in Hornby, ditto and for similar reasons.....

Went to both Motomail and Cycletreads over the weekend.
Motomail were really helpful and we bought some boots for hubby. Couldn't find a jacket to fit me properly but the sales chap was very helpful anyway.
Cycletreads were good too. I didn't realise it was a new store, haven't been there before. Hubby was a bit pissed off to find the oxford hot grips we bought from them last week (online order) for $95 were on sale in the shop at $57 - he mentioned this to the sales chap who was very obliging and gave us a $40 discount on the jacket and kneepads we bought. Didn't realise they were actually having a special sale till we got back home and saw their email, so the specials were probably in store only, so thumbs up to them.

Too true, if you know what you want its fine but if you want some help forget it, but i would have to say at least the staff at motomail get out from behind the counter.
As for Cycletreads their new place is good but they still have the same old crap that has been laying around .
I guess thats why they are having the sale to try and get rid of some of there old stock.Ii was looking at the leather race suits and they look as if they have been there for years all covered in dust and dirty and only small or very big sizes, and that goes the same for the gloves.
Most places are the same, no-one seems to want to work or give you some help and they are all grumpy. sure at times you get good service like the guy who helped me get my knee braces and when you say i can pay cash for that bike but most of the time it is seems just too hard for them.
they wonder why people are buying online, i do like to go into a shop look around and try on the things i am looking at buying, but as there arn't the right sizes i just go else where.
Motomail have it right with this as they don't stock everything but what they do they have the right sizes.

people pay for a service or an item and it is ok then thats what the payment is for but if it fails to live up to expectation expect a bit of a cry.

EXACTLY!! Its when people go above and beyond that they are remembered and appreciated. I bought helmet, jacket and gloves from cycletreads... gave me nearly $100 off without me asking, and swapped the gloves, no questions asked when i had a problem with one (had also even lost the receipt!!)

yes but its not consistant. Cycletreads is where i got my knee braces from and the sales guy was great, knew what he was takling about and gave me a good deal.
Yesterday i went in to get goggles, gloves (for offroad) and look at the leather suits, no one moved for the hour i was there. even when i asked some questions i got a grunt answer (the same guy that sold me the braces). i'm not asking them to roll out the red carpet when i go to a shop but some acknowledgement would be nice.

Nothing wrong with you guys, had great service from previous boss for tyres and other bits for the old GSX,$350(fitted) for set or sport demons 3yrs ago vs $450(plus fitting) in New Plymouth(curiosity for city prices),and is even better when the maniac mechanic wins a sprintcar race at Palmy, has he come down yet.Shame the bike I wanted was sold before I was ready to buy from you guys, but can't win em all.Suppose spending over 18yr working in small town in retail gives you the ethos of shopping locally(within reason) but we all stuff up sometimes hence the "I hate bike shop xyz".Always a warm welcome from you and staff when I pop in.
Locally I have a shop who gets first chance for gear, hell we had issues with new jackets, replaced no problems and hassles.Similar to Anza when I grabbed the essentials back in 03,great service, since then struggle to get acknowledged(cost them $800 helmet,$500 womans gear)on two occasions the idiot didn't get off his arse, after being in retail not acknowledging customers isn't best way to get sales.Even when seriously looking at an 06 Sprint was told "we don't deal in jap bikes"wtf they had a TL1000 outside and offered a suitably insulting trade-in(was at least $1500 less that was offered on a 04 Sprint another shop).

I went to buy a pair of goggles for this weekend at Motomail and have left with a shit load more gear, Why?
Because of the service, the range of gear, the sales staff and the fact they are open. (that fact they had free track days with leathers helped too).
I hope this will be the standard they continue to set and they will continue to see me purchase my gear from them.
