Spent most of this mornings ride screaming obscenities into my helmet in an attempt to warm up the blood and increase its pressure too. 110km/h into an artic gale isn't enjoyable.
One question, where is the heater on my motorcycle? I'm new here.

It is getting a little colder , time to get out the winter gear and perhaps treat myself to heated grips (not time to pack away bike). Bike is daily transport , none of that packing bike away for winter nonsense.

Yup, I thought about putting the liner back in my jacket this morning but I've only got a short commute so will hang out till it starts getting really cold. Bike is my daily transport too. I just couldn't stand having to go to work in the car even if it does have a nice heater.

mmmm might stop taking the bike into work shortly. Not due to being cold, can always add more layers. But had black ice my road today, and my engine kept cutting out for over half an hour. Gave me a hell of a fright slipping all over the place round tight blind corners. A very cold start to the day. Shitty tyres + ice on road + fogged up visor + inexperience rider - might take it easy for a while.
Ice on the road and it's only March. Oh dear, she is going to be a long winter. I miss those 2 weeks of summer!

by the way, headbanger, if you don't have any more proper gear, try use the rain suit: in emergency keeps the freezing air outside... better than nothing...

Sorry, what? Your bike just dies and you think this is normal behaviour? Get rid that looked at ASAP, because it ain't normal behaviour.

WTF are you on about?
My dashboard thermometer said it was 10C when I rode to work. I'm still wearing my vented summer gloves, no jacket or pants liner, and all I had on under my jacket was a t-shirt.
Heater? Uh.. that's the switch on the left-hand switchblock on my bike, dunno 'bout yours....

Thta's carb icing, and given the brand of bike, it may be there's nothing you can do, unless you can change where the aircleaner daws air from. What happens is as the air is sucked into the carb, the change in velocity and density causes moisture in the air to condense and freeze in the intake, constricting the airflow. Usually bikes have the aircleaner inlet situated to draw air from around the warm engine, so this doesn't happen.
I've had this happen once ever, and that was when I turned the aircleaner inlet on my VF500 around, so it was drawing air in from just behind the headstock (at the front of the aircleaner) instead of behind (above the heads). Went on a ride over the Kaimai Ranges and it conked out at the top, where the air was cooler. Waited a few minutes and it restarted and ran fine, so long as I didn't rev it too hard (increased airflow = increased chilling = increased chilling/ice build up).
I only worked out this was what was happening, as another guy on a CBR had the same problem. The bike had previously been fine, even when ridden in snowy conditions in Chch, but I'd turned the airfilter intake around the day before.

= WOOHOOO What a ride!!!
I use the bike as daily transport, t-shirt and jacket so far no need for liner yet.
I have in-built insulation so that helps.

Yep - have had the bike for 9 months now, and it's well worn in. It's just what they do when they are cold. And it's a fine line of warming it up and flooding it. It take a good half hour of actual riding for it to get warm on a very cold day. These bikes are know for it. No big deal, it shudders, cuts out, you restart it, keep going, and finally it's warm and the ride goes smoothly.
The joys of a cheap bike in winter. Nothing I can do about it except... upgrade. Soon enough!

I did notice the temperature had dropped. Bike has stayed in the garage today, but...we'll be out tomorrow, don't care if it is cold, will wear clothes underneath the leather. The thing about Nelson in winter is we get the most gorgeous warm sunny days and the frost in the morning is jsut to make us move faster.

Best time of the year for a ride I reckon. Great days, no daylight saving yet, tourists have gone away, roads aren't melting etc.
But yes it is getting cold. Even here, I got a 5 deg C min on the outside thermometer last night.

They sure do... mind you my girly back pack could be a little more subtle too. I'm the nanna that filters a little, moves back into traffic, sits, watches other bikes flying past, filters a little more, and end up late to work most days. Haha but I still have fun.
