Just noticed the big brother of the GSX650F has come up on Suzuki NZ website (Not on AU or USA sites yet)

Has anyone seen it in any shops yet ?

I would not say that.
Its just a bandit with a fairing.
Another question Wheres the V strom1000 gone?

yep - its a bandit with a full fairing, but adding that full fairing to a bandit in NZ is gonna cost you $2-3k + minimum if you can even get it. The instrument cluster is the new one, headlight, and a few other tweaks here and there. It also sits a little higher (apparently).
But yes agree, basically its a 2010 1250SA bandit with full fairing,

We have had a version similar to that in Canada for a couple of years. It has full fairing, plus hard luggage as well.

However, this one looks much better with the newer front end. As far as I know, the USA didn't get it, at least not the first year it was here.

Still has the GSXF Katana sort of feel to it....I like it!

There was a Bandit 1250 GT around a few years ago - came with the lower fairing and hard luggage (and in the UK with a GPS). The GSX1250FA is based on the 2010 bandit (black engine), and has slightly different fairing, instrument cluster ... it seems a little odd that it is just being launched overseas, but is on the NZ suzuki website already - does that mean we will get them soon ? or is it just a placeholder ?

Nice looking bike. Should sell well here, but there's always going to be the concern of non Jap built Suzuki's rotting, especially in the UK with the road salt - should be good in NZ with the non-corrosive grit however.

Anyone have any experience on the old 1200 vs new 1250 engine?

Whatever....sheesh!

It's alright Bren - it's not your fault.

I'd just like to take to whoever it was at Suzuki who decided to bastardise the Katana name, with a different sort of Katana.

I hear ya on that, but the 90s katanas are still katanas....I do want to get some Katana decals for my bike...I think the GSX750F looks good with those decals

I have a 2007 1250 and have had 2 of the old 1200s. The 1250 makes its torque really early and pulls like a train at low revs. All round nice bike, and better refined than the 1200 (although they are still damn good). Mine is set up like the tourer, with the Givi V46 top box with brake light kit, Givi V35 side bags (coloured inserts on the way), lower fairing, scottoiler, stebel nautilus horn, accessory power outlet, radiator guard, heated grips, fenda extenda, BMC air filter, hugger, Yoshi TRS, GiPro TRE etc (much added by previous owner). One of a kind as the red touring 1250 never came to NZ.

I like the ABS in the wet. A bit like an insurance policy in that you do't notice it and hope you never need it

The 1250 is a great engine - torque the whole way across the rev range, it doesn't care much what gear you are in, and no problem with a pillion. I've not ridden the 1200 so cannot give a comparison. Both the 2010 Bandit 1250 and the GSX1205FA appear to have the same engine (both are black now). The only noticeable differences I can find are the instrument cluster, headlamp radiator and seat height. If you want lower fairings for the bandit then the GSX1250FA is an easier (and cheaper) shortcut.

Speaking of which, how's your low speed running? Much in the way of surging or chain snatch on a trailing throttle?

Nothing discernable in the 1100km I've ridden. So far it's smoother than a porn star's mons. I'm generally quick to spot foibles like that.
