Hey guys, and gals......go-on, tell me if you are all over this?

In Adelaide right now; got darkie free yesterday. I have to wait aoiund for a few days while some beaurocratic wheels grind, I'll stay with my mate Taffy till I can set out for WA.

A guy in border control yesterday, while inspecting my tent etc, thought I would put my bike on a TRAIN to get to WA!!!! He was astounded I would actually RIDE the 2900km I have to go to get to Scaddan, via Kalgoorlie( Totally NOT for pleasure-I have to go here just to renew my WA REGO!!).

C U dudes.

Yeah, I think 10 fills will get me there!

My first planned big adventure this trip was to be the great(?) Nullarbor, however today happened and all thay has changed.

You see, I spent an unreasonable part of today trying to navigate my way aroung SA's biggest carpark. Some folk, particularly locals here, call it,....Adelaide.
I call it unreasonable. !1/4 hr to go 20km across town this morning to drop darkie in for service....but wait.........it gets worse=

3 hrs to do the return trip to pick her up this arvo. I didn't bother with pix cause only the numberplates are differant to NZ.
Bring on the open road, soon!

I did photo some good shit and when I get all my shit together I will post some up here;its hard to be organised elecktrickery wise, when living outta tents etc.

Yeah Kev, they have some dumb rules round vehicles over here eh? You would not belive the shit I had to go thru just to extend my CTP for the rest of the bikes time here( 7 months). You would think I was after a free pass to shag Mrs Rudd.

I work in the Wheatbelt driving the huge seeders putting in next seasons crops. I will post a pix once our rig is fully assembled( next week), so Im not in Perth but 700km away near Esperance.

My interesting pix?

Have a look at this and tell me wots wrong - cause it is wrong. IS-

a) my beer belly too big, or-
b) my penis too small, or-
c) is this how I feel about the WA DPI ( NZs LTSA) ?

Not really 'adventuring', but went for a ride with the Esperance branch Ulysses today( yes, I am that old kids!) - met a guy at the pub last nite-he was oggling the skimpy with me and we got yarning, as you do in these situations, and he told me he was in from 'out east' for a shag and a club ride, well, rather nicely he invited me along on the ride( the wheeled 1...no offer on the other kind?), ans as I had bugger all else better to do I accepted!
About 20 bikes, all the folk very friendly and welcoming, unlike some branches in NZ, and lo and behold there was another 990- Darkie had a mate! The ride was not much of a story-200km straight flat road to Norseman and 200km back( with a stop at the local for a couple of coldies and a random chat with a nice young thing on a Ducati)
A good day had by all.
Some pix 4 U-

What's the big red machine in the background of the first piccy for?

Also, that other 990 looks like it's fitted with a Trailwing (or have I got that wrong?).

I thought it was impossible to put a Deathwing on a KTM as they are immediately rejected and spat off.

Mate, that red machine is a Miller( same brand as the silverwheels spreader I was driving) Nitro boom sprayer-high clearance for over crop work and a boom of somewhere round 120' width.

Wrong....stock Pirelli Scorps. Right bout KTM's reaction to deathwings thou!

Too busy now to post much but may get a pix of the whole rig today as I start seeding.

Hi team, sorry for the lack of dilligence here, I have been too busy to adventure since my last post and my boss doesn't give us notice of a weekend off till late friday and by the time we get home around 6 its way too late to set out anywhere too far afield.
Today was little differant but the small adventure trip delivered big rewards-I overnited with the other guys of my crew in Esperance and set out at 0930 this morning for Cape Arid on Isralite bay.
Even though it was only 150km from Esp before I headed into the Cape Arid NP, for the 30km of washboard each way( in typical NP fashion their acess routes are designed to keep people AWAY not welcome them into their parks!!

ducatijim
9th May 2010, 23:53
The trip out to the start of the tracks was not as boring as expected, there were some corners and wee hills( really!) and of course I was interested in where they were in their farming season compared to my district so the journey went quickley.
I also scoped out a future plan to take a vague track from near here right up to Balladonia on the Nullarbor = next time!
30k of gravel after the seal ends, then the track of corrugations( remember Bass? too fast/too slow/just right?)....I tried the slow approach first, as I do, and that was loostening my fillings....aarrgh. I contemplated turning round....don't want to quit but, however I remember well the last time I went bush without anyone knowing ;I nearly perished from getting stuck in deep sand and running out of water....still vivid in my mind. Then I applied Bass's well tryed style and got up on the pegs and 'pressed-on'. Better!
Came across this wee guy crossing the track ahead of me, by the time I stopped and got the camera out he was almost into the scrub. I coaxed him back( that is I pickedhim up with my gloved hand and placed him in the road for a pix-he again applied some speed and was about to vanish before the pix, so, this pic came about-you could see the resignation on his face i reckon 'bloody tourists'!!

ducatijim
10th May 2010, 00:09
As usual in this country, you never see the sea until youre about to tip into it, but it was spectacular to see, beautiful white sand with huge seas breaking onto the shore one way and super smooth big boulders with spectacular breakers the other way. There was a good keen bloke there, well not there but his ute, boat trailer and boat tractor were there, along with 3 barrels of paua shells, not sure where the previous inhabitants of the shells had gone. I could not see their boat from up on the rox either so they must have brought a catch in and gone out for more?(differant?)
Took some pikkies and then set out back again, this time up on the pegs and getting along at 80-90kph I felt fully in control now and loving it! I am unloaded however and this contributes no small amount to the handling I bet!!
At the end of the NP track I decide to take a wee short cut that proved to be a battle of overgrown scrub and quite deep sand with a long sloping climb right at the end before getting back on the road....that climb had me focused I tell you! ( very bald Desert on back!!).

Anyone here ever driven 1 of these? An old Acco International - there are still a few of those floating around the country areas... sort of the successor to the old WW2 Ford 4X4.....The lizard looks like a Bobtail or Blue tounge - we get those around the house - a good sign apparently, meant to keep the other snakes away and we haven't seen one in 4 yrs, so...
We've got a mate in Esperance who I think is in Ulysses - train driver - rides a BMW 1100, got a few BSA's as well - Spitfire3, Goldstar 500 and a couple of others.

Actually yes i have. Drove them in the early 80's when i was living in Brisbane. They call them a Butter Box. Hot as shit inside and oh yea...when the motor goes bang the smoke plumes come through the internal bonnet and fill the cab to the point where you can't see shit.
