Have you had some bad news?
Idiots will be idiots and always push the limits when it's not safe to, but that shouldn't put you off having a nice ride.
It does get a little depressing reading about the all the crashes and fatalities, but if tht's all it is, take a break for a while, and come back when you are ready.

why walk away instead of teaching them how?
And the few newbies that are around will learn and become better riders. We all started somewhere. please don't take this attitude.. many people around here look to those like you. If you go, then the next will and so on, then this site and it's awesome rep will die. Then it's over, and we're all spread out on our own or small groups again. That's not as much fun. It's just a rough patch. it'll pull right

Blakamin. Quitting Kiwibiker isn't going to help resolve the situation that seems to have lit your wick. This place needs wise and reasoned heads, if for no other reason than to tell some of our more naive and excitable members to pull their fucking heads in.

Don't go!

You must be reading different posts to me. In the few months I've been on here I have identified the members with a colourful posting style.

As with any group there are all types posting on here.

Do you think Kiwibikers are predominantly developing into a bunch of Kerosene Cowboys or what?

I don't like hearing about people racing on the road here as I think it brings the site and its members into disrepute but the thing about the internet is that its pretty much free of censorship.

My gwad, you've never even ridden with me or met me and you came up with all of them conclusions?

Why do you think people who actually went on the ride are saying they had a good time and aren't complaining?

I am honest (bit too much for my own good) and I don't like to keep in bad relations with people so I was explaining that if I had scared some people I was sorry. When I personally asked people, all of them were sweet with my passing but I was just making sure anyway by explaining what I was doing in the write up.

You've done this before as well. You came up to a conclusion by just reading what was in the net. Well reality is a lot different. You'd really have to see us ride and meet us to understand. We are not the text book holigans that you are thinking off. We are all riders dedicated to our sport and precise riding with maximum regards given to safety. Sometimes we make wrong judgement calls (we are only human) like the passing case but I appologised for that and explained why I did it. Nothing went wrong or should have gone wrong really but there was a slight chance of people getting a bit shaken up and that's the reason why I mentioned it in the write up.

OK so even if you think we are unsafe and all the rest of it, think about this, just because of a few "hooligans" like us, you are saying goodbye to over 2000 other people? Doesn't make sence to me man...

i dont know if you can justify leaving KB because of one person, if you are just fed up with the website and people than you should do as you feel, but on a comunity this big you will never agree with everyone  take crazy steve for example, he has in the past said some things and said that he did some things that i strongly disagree with, but that doesnt mean i am gona throw in the towel :nono:

dude don't bail- there's some of us here who are pretty mellow on bikes in the skittery early stages of bikehood... I liked reading your posts & i found this site especially usefull for some basic but improtant information. also the sense of community is real strong here when everyone else in my family hates bikes it's nice to rabbit on to people who don't... :devil2:

Mike,

You have done a great job here and I'm hoping that you will reconsider this train of thought.
MR does the best he can ... and as he says, he can be a too honest at times ... but he has nothing but the utmost of concern for the other riders that aren't up to his level.
I too am like you and wish that they could all learn to ride safely and within their limits but lets face it ... most of them want to go fast !! If guys like us can at least be their voice of reason and make them think just a bit before they twist the throttle all the way then we have got it through.
Don't go .....

besides ... who else will understand my warped sense of humour !!

Well stuff it, if im such a "hooligan" why should i help MR organise newbie rides to teach them about riding???

Im out of here to...

Cheers Blackamin, calling me a cunt because i ride fast is a load of bullshit, if i ride fast does that make me unsafe? No it doesnt, to be safe is to recognise hazards and respect other people on the road. As it has been shown at Manfield, i can go from last place to 9th in a short time at race pace. Doesnt mean i do it on the road.

I'm with Bren_chch & two smoker. This is melodramatic bs, play the violins & pass the hanky. Too alot of people, riding bikes is about going fast & challinging ourselves against the road. In your opinion, you can label me/us an irresponsible maniac's etc if you like, & by sounds of it you probably will.

Sheep Dags
15th May 2005, 15:44
this is pretty rediculous. any person who was on that ride yesterday will tell you that 2 smoker and Motoracer had nothing to do with the accidents. they're easy to be the first to blame cause they "ride fast". no-one's to blame here. the guys that did crash have received so much shit about it that no doubt they have learnt from what happened and it definately would have sunken in. in that sense blakamin, you've helped someone out, cause they're prolly not gonna be silly from now on. but don't shift any blame on guys who don't deserve it. - especially on the organisers, cause it's a bit of a kick in the teeth when they did all that they could to make sure people were gonna have a good time, such as MR riding the first bit with the newbies, and when he realised they might not be up to it, suggested that they go home. it's not his fault that they carried on. - and they shouldn't feel stink about riding on either, they're allowed to go on a group ride if they want...

anyway i reckon people should calm down, and all of you more experienced guys (blakamin, 2 smoker, MR) have something they can share with the rest of us so it would be a shit if you did up and leave.

take is easy anyways, thats what im doing!

Why make it public Blakamin other than the obvious effect, you could have just pm'ed spankme or just not logged back on. Bikes are bikes, young people are young people. Shit will happen, no matter how much you try to educate. Hopefully you'll see a reduction in accidents, but you won't stop it entirely. Walking away from the site aint going to change shit. Anyway, your choice.

Blaky - I can offer my opinion, but I can't live your life for you.

Do what you have to do, but from where I'm standing the KB family loses out.

As per the run to Wellsford with Zed, Swanny and DVUS the other weekend... they left me IN THEIR DUST! And rightly so - I wasn't going as fast as them, and nor did I want to.

Part of being a man is doing what you believe is right. I did what was right then, and you need to do what is right now. In the end it is you that you need liove with - not KB who will dissappear when the PC is turned off.

If you do go - you go with my support. Likewise if you stay.,

Everyone else has pointed out the other stuff to be said...

Ah geez, not another one. I thought you were better than this Blakie

Yet again someone who has a tantrum about something and says 'oh woe is me, I shall never return to this site'. Your likely to return for whatever reason, so don't go spewing out shit like this. Sure, these dickheads laughing about crashing is stupid, but leaving isn't going to help matters. Your a good member to have on this site, don't bloody leave cause some dicks are having a laugh at other peoples misfortune, they'll soon turn around when something like it happens to them

And anyone else who wants to leave this site and wishes to make a spectacle, at least reconsider or leave for a while and return to see if you find the site less offensive

Each one of us make our own decisions. We make up our own minds as to go on a group ride or not. We decide ourselves as to go fast or slow on our rides. We make a decision and should be individually be responsible for it. Cant blame others if one crashes or not crash. We cant blame the organisers. We should actually thank the organisers for putting up the effort and time to organise a ride for us.

Come on, lets not get carry away with it. Group hug. :grouphug:

One thing I have noticed when a member threatens to leave or does leave, is the amount of people trying to make them stay, not because they want senior heads or any other reason (I may be wrong, correct me if I am) but its because the value of opinions and the laughter brought to the site by there humour or wit often lightens the air of a thread.

Blakamin, I for one enjoyed all your posts and never had a problem with you. Ditto with all the other members of the site who moved on. I just know that in life, aspects change. I used to be a snarky little know it all, hell Im only 20. But there have been a few changes in my life that forced me to grow up suddenly. Im not going to leave because Im afraid of change. Im going to make the best of it and change it to suit me.

I never judge people opinions on this site. What they want to say and what they believe may work for them. I know my way and wether Im going to make mistakes, Im going to learn from them. But my way still gets the job done.... My way! On the same note though, I have no time for retards and arseholes who lay personal attacks on other members when they cant respect their opinions. Hell if someone does something wrong, Im not planning on laughing in their face (Unless they have really pissed me off) but I dont mind helping them get back on their feet and helping them learn.

Thats all I have to say, and I know some may not like what I have said or how I have said it, but you know what???
I SAID IT MY WAY!

When I was young, dumb & full of cum, at 15 I too thought myself to be 10 feet tall & bulletproof.
About 30 years later I wonder how the hell I didnt kill myself in the process.
It must have been either good luck or pure chance or both
I look around me now & there are too many of my ex riding mates dead
Bike riding is a dangerous pursuit with a high toll should you get it wrong
Sadly the only way people learn, is not wisley by other peoples mistakes but, by making their own
Riders just starting out really need to listen to those of us way more experienced in the art of biking survival
Riding beyond your skill level to show off or to prove yourself manly is just an accident waiting to happen, often with dire consequences
Thinking "it wont happen to me" is folly because probably sooner than later IT WILL
Its a F*&kin steep learning curve people, BE MORE CAREFULL & LEARN QUICKLY!!! or one day soon youll wake up dead
