Evening all,

Suprised this hasn't popped up yet. Quite excited about this ride as I haven't been out to Waikaretu in about ten years. Used to get down there to the Whitfords farm when we terrorised cattle on our way down to the beach.

I'm heading down with 3 mates on their CRF250X's so well and truly flying the Honda flag.

Any tips for this single loop ride?

you boys are getting quicker and quicker,

its a different type of ride, not as much riding but take your time, enjoy the sites,

we go into whitfords place right off the beach in the afternoon

map on how to get there, you need to be there on time, or you miss the first part,

What time does it kick off? Certainly don't want to be left behind on this ride! Will make sure I'm there with plenty of time up the sleeve to organise everything.

Yep will duct tape my triangle stand to my fuel tank so I can find it easily and can stand my bike up during the break. I rarely eat on rides as I hate having a fuel stomach bouncing around.

The best tip for these rides is to make your fuel can look as unique as possible...500+ red fuel cans in 3 different trucks doesn't make it easy to find yours

yep mine will be the red one, so every one else has to choose a different color, fuel container.

Not long now, only thing to left do is personalise the fuel can.

Have added another bike to the ranks so the ute/trailer will have a total of 5 CRFs shoe-horned on!

I had a text from one of the land owners this morning who said it's just went enough to settle the dust down and make for good riding conditions.

I'm all loaded with my newly customised petrol can, just have to pick up 4 bikes on the way! Can't wait to get riding.

Great ride today Scott, was nice to have a reasonably easy going ride where it was more about scenery/distance as opposed to challenges. A couple of nice hillclimbs were good fun but the best part was deffinately the first big dune and the view from the top.

The beach run was great too. I was down at the beach talking to Richard Whitford when pulled out a massive superman over the dune, immediate report was he KO'd - how's that guy doing?

The guy that got KO'd was a 12 yr old boy. bit dazed, memory loss, has a moderate concussion. But will make a full recovery.

Good to hear it wasn't too major. It was getting a little crazy down there.

Scott - I know in the briefing you said last year things got a bit out of hand last year on the dunes, how did it compare this year? It looked like everyone was well behaved while having an absolute blast out there.

oldguy

where was this drop off you speak of.

scott411
30th March 2010, 07:19
people were definatly more behaved this year, but we also had a couple of marshalls there to keep an eye out for people and tell them off,

and the beach was a alot better as well,

hey Nellie, its PMCC ;) ;)
