Hey all. I just got a Yamaha WR250F and am now working to convince my brother to buy a bike as well. Trouble is he is a little vertically challenged. He says the bikes all seem to be too tall. Is that just the set up or does he need to buy a particular model for short people?

I feel his pain. I had a Yamaha xt250 and it was fine.(short)

How hard out does he want to ride and how tall is he? If it doesn't matter to him he can buy a WR250F as well and shorten it something like I did to mine. However, hence the hard out comment, shortening them does compromise the suspension capability.

Unfortunately, you're about as likely to come across the perfect bike for short people as you are a unicorn or the easter bunny. He will have to lower a full sized bike or get used to riding it stock. (Not that you can really 'get used to' not being able to put a foot down when you stop!)

Lots of people mainly guys ride bikes too tall & manage not being able to touch the ground. Will be interesting when John gets back as his 125 he can't touch the ground or maybe get a toe down & he's got a 250 waiting for him which is slightly taller.

Oh for sure, I know some people are okay with it. If his bro's a learner he will probably be a bit more confident being able to touch ground tho. I like to be able to get a foot down when things get dodgy, but it is a learning experience riding bikes that are too big for you (whenever I steal Krad's bike, for example...and then crash into someone else's trailer back at the carpark because I didn't know how to stop, hehe ) - kind of like how riding without a front brake is a learning experience ;)

my grandson riding my youngest girls DRZ125 big wheel, he climbs up on the bbq table to get going, and get off.

Well I'm one of the shortest people on here, including the kids, oh apart from Spiked Punch maybe! I've had 2 bikes lowered. I've now got a KDX200. I've taken a huge chunk out of the seat and had a spacer put into the shock! It's awesome! Still on my tip toes, but can get it started! The guys say harden up, but if you can't put your foot down to kick start it makes it bloody hard! If you want any more information, PM me! I love the KDX now, it's come down a lot. My bike looks like a trials bike!!

Totally hear ya, i for one don't feel right if i can't put my feet down. There are kids at mini mx that cannot touch the ground - actually have never seen them stop & get off lol. Kids often have no fear though.
