Not much happening? Everyone moved on? New challenges? ACC is old news?

Ah well, was fun while it lasted.

There is a meeting on the very subject to be held this weekend...a number of the core group (in Auckland at least) have had most weekends filled since the begining of the year but things have settled down now. Momentum is about to gather yet again.

How about a nodding one, you know, just for a bit of variation?

it's annoying how "life" takes over again and all the momentum you have for a project/issue peters away - but that will be what the b**tards in the b**hive will be counting on, sitting patiently with their bureaucratic steamroller to flatten the last dregs of resistance.

but then ACC will be short of funds (affecting people) and will burn any reputation that bikers have earned.

Well, for what it is worth: I am still pissed off re what is happening.

But lets see if I can put it in a way that would get ALL bikers pissed off also:

"I am pissed off that bikers are separated from the general motoring public and are paying more than anyone else. I am pissed off that bikers are the only ones who have to pay more ACC for bigger engines. And I am pissed off that none of the money that is gathered from bikers is used to train bikers so that the accidents will drop".

THAT is what I, as a biker, am pissed off about. And THAT is what I think ALL bikers can agree on.

Don't get all the other crap included, it will only devide us.

Thats about where i'm at too, it was about protesting on behalf of all NZ'rs to make sure we all got a better deal, virtually nobody except bikers payed attention, understood, or stood up. So now its just about bikers (imo).

Though trying to get non-bikers on side didnt work, it was worth trying, and has damaged our cause at all.

Now, when are we getting 10,000 bikers to tell them that this, and nothing else, is what we want!

So are BRONZ going to let their paid up members know or do they all have to come to KB to find out?

That is why they have regular meetings! Every month 3 Ed Wednesday. As it hath been time out of mind. And why they send out email newsletters to all those who have put down an email address . Every month.

Ok so short answer is we have to come on to KB to find out what Auckland BRONZ is planning. Thats cool so when the subs are due I will give them to SpankMe for this site.

PLEASE: This is in NO WAY a personal attack.

The ones who have put their hands up as our leaders, we, the humble followers, are getting restless. We are wanting some guidance. We are looking for a sign.
But nothing is happening.

So either this was a false hope, or we will look for a new Messiah.

What will it be?

Come on Ixion. I can't see any reason why you can't call on each of the members personally at a time of their choosing to give them weekly updates. It's a small price to pay.

Are you serious?. Rolling over and paying up will achieve nothing. A majority of registered bikes going on hold is needed. Suddenly the increased revenue predicted by ACC will become even lower than the current levels.$$$$$$ or lack thereof is all that will force a rethink by the powers that be.

Go over to the Ongoing Discusion Thread (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php/118993-Ongoing-ACC-protest-actions-discussion-thread/page6) and voice some ideas set for when the new regos come into effect, I think the leadership is agreed that something will happen then, just needing ideas on what form it'll take.

Funny! I have not received an email from BRONZ since last year. Weekly? Nah but maybe quarterly wouldn't be too much to ask?

Maybe take the foot out of your mouth and shove it somewhere else

Will be good to see more action on the levies issue. Big numbers for bigger impact and media coverage would be nice. Non-biker support vital. From what I hear ACC has set the levies in stone for the year ahead.

Fuck the non-biker support. I am soo over that, some other group that can't get their shit together is allowed to ride the tide with the bikers, and then producing nothing.

Mobilise the bikers again I say. A noisy no prisoners asault on the whole ACC/government to let them know that we are not playing games.

I think that focussing on Biker's issues is key, but that without majority support, there is not much chance of change. What is the leverage? PERHAPS 10,000 bikers could be scraped together once or twice a year, but that's hardly enough to worry any politician, let alone one who is still pretty much at the beginning of their term. I think that by really emphasizing that what is happening to bikers is just the tip of the iceberg, we can convince non-bikers to rally behind our cause. If they know that once biker's are targetted then, who knows, maybe social sports groups will be next, people with cars older than 5 years after that, etc. they might make enough noise to rattle a few politicians.

I've been a dirty hippy activist since way back, and the only causes I have ever seen being effective have been those which have been picked up by the majority of the middle-class voting public. Even then, with the majority support that this government has, I don't think they are worried about how they will be polling in a year and a half.

Yes - focus on bikers, yes - support bikers issues, but join the dots for others - so that they will join us.

We tried that, nobody else got on board, the huge union protest turned out to be only 50 people, who were outnumbered by the bikers that turned up to show support. So fuck em, 10,000 votes isn't fuck all, but gridlocking major cities with bike protests will get on their nerves.

10,000 people have lets say oh at a guess at least 50 or so mates, family or co-workers. Times that and work out the numbers and maybe they will take notice.

We were told to stay away from Welly in February because it was a union, PSA thing. So guess what? We did. Do we need to gridlock cities and piss the average person off going about their daily business? I am not convinced we do but no doubt I will be shot down.

Once it starts rolling again, I will particularly interested in how many turn out for protest action this time round?
Have bikers in general accepted the status quo?

As long as I have breath and a voice that prick wont hear the end of my objections to raping the ACC system!

EDIT: The biggest annoyance for me is my MP is Lockwood Smith. I can not even get a response from his office. One of the biggest electorates on the country and he is neutral.
