Jay Leno has one of the Y2K turbine powered bikes, and had to get the manufacturers to change the LED tailight so it displayed a message when he was stopped, warning people to stay clear. This was after someone behind him parked their car close to his bike to get a good look, and the hot exhaust started to melt their plastic front bumper.

Would have been excellent coming home at midday today on the motorway with some car driving git who carved up the traffic behind me then decided my space in the lane nearest the concrete median wall was exactly where he wanted to be. Haha that's awesome. I remember him talking about it (on top gear?) and he said that he was at some lights and he kept moving forward so it wouldn't, but the guy kept creeping up behind him.

Awesome! Back in the day in Blighty, a cheap trick we used to do to our cars (before I could afford a decent car that would ignite fuel on the overrun properly a la V8) was to drill a hole in the exhaust can and mount a spark plug, then wire it up to a switch on the dash. Coupled with a bit of rich fuelling you could get some awesome flames flying out the back! Don't reckon that would pass a WOF though...

Lincolnshire plumber Colin Furze's modified scooter, which threw out flames with a flick of a switch, was shown in a press feature last week. When police spotted Furze riding his scooter on a public highway, they arrested him, the Sunday Telegraph reported. Furze was detained on possessing an object converted into a firearm before being released on bail without charge until May 6, pending police investigation. Possession of a firearm can carry a maximum prison sentence of five to seven years. Furze declined comment, the newspaper said.
