A nice bloke just brought in this bike to have a brake declaration done to get his mint looking CBR road legal. He had recently brought it and had received it in this condition, in his defence he didn't really know too much about bikesSpot the problem...........
Shit like this shouldn't be alowed to be done. Words like poor, shoddy, unprofessional and crap spring to mind. :( buyer beware!

That's how they used to do it in the 70's!
So are the forks just back to front, or is the whole front end installed back to front?

Something looks backwards, shouldn't the calipers be behind the forks? Looks as though the forks have been put on back to front...

Our theory is that they took the forks and wheel out complete (for what ever reason? steering bearings maybe????) and then just popped them back in, only backwards......

Rubbish. :innocent: Would take real talent to install most of the bike the wrong way round. :shifty:

You could be right, maybe the forks are the right way around, it's the rest of the bike they've installed backwards...! :shit:

I assume the solid line just runs over to the other caliper which then has a rubber hose running up to the master cylinder.
Apart from the fact that it looks stupid I can't really see why it would be unsafe.

Yeah, it looks hilarious but probably isn't inherently unsafe.

:blink:Unbelievable, reminds me of this guy,no doubt the chick in the second pic has hers the same. One would be hoping the mounting points for the calipers were bloody strong.

Maybe when they put the new directional front tyre on they found out it was pointing the wrong way, so swopped the front end round.... Seems like the right thing to do ;-p

You cant put brains where they are not supposed to be. Unbeleivable, that is bastardisation taken too far.

Did I get it wrong (again you may say) or does it look like the steel line runs up to the master cylinder?
Which means it is flexing as the forks move up and down.
But the relatively immobile caliper has a rubber line.

Nah - hit CTRL and + and zoom in (CTRL and NUMPAD 0 to reset). You can see the rigid pipe is just the bridge. What looks like a pipe running up from the other side is in fact the cast spoke of the V4 Honda wheel in the background.
Like so.

Maybe it was all in an effort to extend the mudguard - those fender extenders are expensive you know.

hmmm, the directional tyre being on backwards, or the fact that all the braking forces are now in tension and not compression as designed. Also its hard to tell, is it just the forks, or triple clamps that are backwards, if its the triples the trail would be severely effected to say the least :p

it was just the forks, easy fix. very hard mistake.

Rubbish! yous have got it all wrong.
This is just the logical "fixit" when a daughters hockey shin guards are not available.
Did you not see the "Bastardisation" that was strapped to Stroudy's brakes on Boxing day?

Wouldm I be wrong to be concerned about the callipers being literally ripped from their mounts ?

While the ultimate strength of the fork mounts would certainly be higher the other way around, there's no way that they're going anywhere as they were. They're far stronger than you'd think.
