View Full Version : Looking at getting a bike but need some advice

hey guys looking at geting a 250 4 stroke asap as have had my learners for a couple of months but no bike :(
and now hoping to get one in the price range of 0-$2300 that can move so preferbly not a GN type bike as like to have some fun on corners. Also i can ride as I race classics so the bike dosnt have to be to user friendly
so just wondering any advice or anyone with a bike for sale?

yea have had a bit of a look seems like a couple of good bikes maybe looking at a bandit or something similar?

You got CBR250RR BabyBlade, the ZXR250, VTR250 ...... those are all a bit more on the sporty side. Also, if you get one that is a few years old (the ones I listed will all be a bit older), you might want to consider a fork fluid change and a rear shock rebuild to help out with the handling.

hey thanks for that bike on trademe looks good will try and have a look just km's are geting up but im quessing thats expected in my price range?
and a cbr or vtr would be nice but looks like it would be hard to find in my price range by looking on tradme

Hey dude the ZZR looks like a good deal, low k's too.
If you need someone to have a look I can probably help you out, I have a GPX250 which is essentially the same bike apart from appearance.

/edit Just read that it's in Hamilton, maybe then I can't lol.

If you want to know what things you should check for etc, hit me up.

Hey dude, you should get a lot of reliable k's out of the zzr (36,000 is low for the year of that bike). Plus they are an easy bike to work on, parts are relatively cheap, and chances are they haven't been thrashed like the cbr mini-blades. Good luck with your decision :)

cheers guys for the help and if I do go and have a look ill take my dad and his 40 years of experience and I do no a bit about bikes been riding since I was 3 :P. Thanks Slyer if i do get the bike (hopefully) then ill make sure ill talk to you for the basics. thanks to everyone for helping me a newbie out

Mr T, I do have a zxr 1992 250 cc on kiwibiker bike trader sports section I think page 2, Minor adjustments needed, Engine is A1 condition. windsurfer and another member already checked it out last week, I got another 1 today. if you wanna view it your more than welcome. Txt me on 021 145 5950. Would try to get wof this week. Selling for $3000 just to get it out of my garage. Not enough space in it to move.
