Not what you'd think...
Last week I'm at school picking up my children and upon returning to my car there's this handsome, tall, well built Maori gentlemen waiting by my car. What a lovely smile he had. He proceeds to apoligise to me for he had reversed into my car. Oh dear, it's a car, it's fine insurance!! Yes, he accepts it was his fault, he gives me all his details and as he is driving a 2009 Toyota BIGTHING, I'm like sweet, thanks for smashing my car. have a nice day.
Come home, phone the insurance, all sweet, no problems!!!
6 days later I have not heard from my insurance company about getting my car fixed so I phone them. They lie, someone rang my cell phone yesterday, ahh no they didn't, still I check call history and no, no calls. Oh he says. I don't care, just what's the story, can I take my car in to get fixed. NO, hello, why not?
Well, it seems lovely handsome man with nice smile is being rude and obnoxious to my insurance people and now is not answering his phone at all. They are trying to sort something through his insurance but he hasn't even put his claim. I'm confused, like the rear of his vehicle was smashed up quite badly, indicators and lights are gone so surely he would need to get it fixed??? Maybe he hasn't paid his insurance, who knows, but I'm pissed off as I dont' mind my car having supermarket carpark dents but bid smashes in the front guard is so not pretty......
bloody bastard with his smile, i'd slap that smile right off his face about now!!!!

To start with.. Can I just say... FUCKING insurance companies!!!!
Secondly... Why are they just not fixing it and argueing about the bill later? Its still gonna get fixed. In a simplier world you would pay insurance to take all the hassle out of things like this.. Here, fix my car.. its this guys fault.. heres his name and number.. go talk to him about the bill.. Not my problem.. thats what I pay you for!
Oh.. and thirdly... Fucking insurance companies!!!!

Lesson for all here from my experience. When someone damages your car or bike, always clinically collect all information and work on the basis that it will turn to shit later. This applies no matter how rude or polite the male or female is at the time. If any doubt and if you are sure you are in the right call the cops. I had an incident where this young guy ran into me, accepted blame at the the scene and the cops turned up. They charged him with careless driving which was a blessing as weeks later his insurance company called me and said he had lodged a claim and it was my fault. In a state of breathlessness and disbelief I mentioned the cops were at the scene and were to prosecute him. The last I heard was the insurance woman saying - we will get the report from the Police. That was sorted.

I have come to the conclusion some time back that if some one apologies says sorry etc with smile on their face its there for one reason only.
They see you as a sucker and can not hold back their contempt for you. That is what the smile is all about..............contempt.

I was single at the time so it didnt really stack up. Anyway & told her to go fuck herself & made sure she got a frightening call from a mate in the CIB as well.

The insurance co settles your claim and tries to recover from the other party, if they cannot recover any funds from the other party you will have to foot the excess.

This is surprisingly common. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS request police attendance for a crash. No matter how "nice" the at fault party is. They may simply be this way to avoid the cops turning up and locking them up for warrants etc.
This helps with the process no end with an independent report that insurance companies can later pay for and source from the infringement bureau and can use to assist the victims of bottom feeding diddle-smokers like this.
If you can, take a photo or two of the cars, regos and damage and even a quick one of the driver. Many give false details.

Yes well, maybe, maybe just a little, I have a wee issue with the lies that men can tell. The gentlemen concerned in this incident came across as charming, genuine and well, up front and honest. The error in judgement was mine, I trusted this gentlemen and he is now being a right cock. I have no issue with the colour of his skin, in fact it was a lovely shade of brown.
I am being a very bad hypocrite in tarring all men with the same brush, I apoligise to all men who have never told a lie, have never acted in any way deceitful and who have taken offence to my usuage of the word MEN.

I had a similar thing happen when a woman hit my car (with her 4WD) on the Harbour Bridge
she admitted fault at the scence to me and police.
had my car fixed and was required to pay excess as she had decided to deny fault.
she was charged with careless driving and eventually pleaded guilty
I eventually got the excess back after they admitted fault

Well, there is actually a connection. If you park a certain appendage in a certain orifice without protection (and you aren't wanting children) you have what is essentially a 'parking accident'.

I've had a couple of jinxed cars in the past. One had one side smashed in by a bus, then the front guard taken out by a bicycle, then the other side taken out by a mini, and me getting pissed with it and taking out the windscreen (all within two weeks). Actually, that was my ex's, but same dif.
Then had a car that was hit side on by a car towing trailer (I was doing a dive course), car behind not seeing a blatantly red light and stopped vehicle (we were stopped for about half a minute when he hit us - damned taxi driver) and me stuffing up the reversing and hitting our fence. Oh, and it was parked on the road at the in-laws one night, someone sideswiped it and drove off - took me a few days to even notice (front of the car, not obvious to me or my husband getting in it).
I'm over cars. Vans at least can carry bikes :)

Hi, Had a similar incident where a learner driver went through a Give Way and hit our vehicle while on a round-about. The driver was 16 and accompanied by both parents, who admitted his fault and agreed that they would lodge a claim through their insurance company. I took their word, and did not call the Police at the time (nor did I take any photos with my mobile phone).
When my insurance company contacted their company, the driver's parents then refused to admit his liability and refused to lodge a cliam through their own insurance company. It was only when I went to see the parents directly and threatened them with a civil action in court that they relented and lodged a claim through their insurance company. My insurance company was not that interested in helping me achieve resolution in my favour.
Lessons learnt:
1. Call the Police, even if it is a minor damage accident .
2. Get your mobile phone (assume with camera) and take plenty of photos. I certainly won't make the same mistake again, no matter how nice the other person is. If they look like driving off, tell them that you have been injured in some way and that the Police take it seriously that a driver leaves the scene of an 'injury accident'.
3. The insurance companies also seem to be more interested in looking after themselves than in looking after their clients (just my perception).
Cheers.

3. The insurance companies also seem to be more interested in looking after themselves than in looking after their clients (just my perception).
Must depend on the company then, ours were really good when an uninsured driver backed into our car. Started with her promising to fix the damage etc, but after a bit of dicking around just rang the insurance company. End result was we gave them the details, dropped the car in to get fixed & picked it up when it was done, insurance sorted everything else and we had to do nothing.
And seeing as the thread title is Men, I should point out it was a young lady that was driving.

ahem there Neels, the lady was not in the vicinity of her car when the man reversed into it. He waited for my return, apoligised, gave me details and left.
My insurance company have been brilliant, they did all the work, I gave them the details and they persued the man in question. After he was so unco-operative I came here and had me a wee rant about the frustration caused as the result of a man!!!!
All in fine, car is off to be fixed and I'm off to ride my bike htis afternoon....sun is shining and it is a beautiful autumn day in Nelson (again).

LOL!!! Nice one! Can never count on it with cars though, eh? Went to get a WOF for the Pulsar and the battery died! $173.00 all up for that visit to the garage. Flew through the WOF though..
Went to get the van a WOF and ... yup the battery died... $290.00 for that visit to the garage! :bye: Flew through the WOF though... :shifty:
Fortunately all the MX5 needed for its WOF was a park-light bulb. :sunny:
So my bike sits forlornly in the back of our garage needing Reg and a service... :bye:

Its stupid that the party at fault has to put in a claim for yours to be valid.
Its to easy for them to give you the finger and walk off. Ridiculous system.

All fixed and happily moving on! OK for you but as a man, I am left feeling frazzled, degraded and worthless!
Could you please PM me your contact details, so that I can forward them to my lawyer in order to take retribution for your public denigration of my gender. :shifty:

I had this same problem.
I was stopped at a pedestrian crossing, a lady not paying attention hit the back of me, right as a young couple with a pram walked in front of my car.
She admitted fault immediately. I took witness info from everyone I could see anyway.
This happened before xmas, and after being impossible to get hold of, she would not admit liability to her insurance company. Over the whole of xmas we were down a car.
Finally in february after still refusing to admit liability, apparently saying we stopped too quickly....WTF?! she received a letter under her door, which was sighted with friends and they went with us when we dropped it off. (cover all bases)
The letter said the list of events, the witnesses, and how much a rental vehicle would cost per day whist in the shop, and that we would be taking it to an official Subaru dealer (read expensive). We added $20 an hour for 5 hours research into our rights, and time wasted on the phone, $200 as we had to take the gas guzzler on holiday instead, and $500 in compensation. All of which we did'nt expect to win but it adds to it all.
From here we suggested she get in contact with her insurance within a week or we would be taking her to the diputes tribunal.
We left names and numbers etc, and further mentioned she would be responsible for each of our wages if it went to court, and we would be claiming that she pay for the costs of the proceedings.
Stupid blonde twatt "woke up" and rang us that same night......tried to get us to feel sorry for her. I forgot to add she was in a nice new BMW and she has a beautiful house in Devonport........apparently she was deserving of some sympathy after purposely fucking us around for tow months. (what about all the freakin grief she caused us!? Some people are so self absorbed it's un-believeable!) It would have been nice to have the right to sue here in N.Z, i'd have taken her to the cleaners......
I think the letter coupled with the fact that we knew where she lived definitely solved our issue.

That probably just means mortgaged to the bollocks and exorbitant monthly lease payments so she looks the part, but less actual disposable income than you.
The bit I don't understand in all of this is the insurance hassles. When our car got bent they fixed it straight away, they told us we might have to pay the $200 excess to get the car back and then get it refunded once they sorted out the silly girl that hit it, but there was no waiting until they sorted out who was at fault before it got fixed.

On my gubbmint salary?! I do'nt think so.
She was wanking on about her marriage break up. Which left her with all the trimmings, and she was in the process of selling the house. She was also insured, so the bitch was being just that, a bitch by refusing to admit liability and royally fucking us around. Her insurance minus her premium paid for the damage.
If you think about it that young couple was lucky we were stopped at the pedestrian crossing or she'd probably have run over a couple and a pram.

I didn't see a threat there, it was more of a comparison; "you're like an annoying flea that needs a hard slap" is quite different to "you're an annoying flea and I'm going to slap you hard". Please try to keep up.
