Hi
When it comes to auto electrics im a bit retarded and I dont know how to set up a simple circuit.
Anyway, the thermo switch on my fzr is dead and the fan doesnt get switched on. Im going to bypass the switch and use a toggle switch instead.
Do I connect the negative to the battery or to chassis earth?
Anything else I need to know?

Toggle switch between the two sender wires should do the trick.
I'd draw a pic, but some bugga nicked my crayons:-)

Well, the thermo switch is a switch, and the toggle switch is a switch - so which one has a negative again? :)
I did the same thing on my bike and I just used the toggle switch to short out the thermo switch...

The thermo switch usually shorts to earth (completes the ground circuit for the fan). You'll need a switch of a few amps though. I bought a 15A waterproof switch from Jaycar for my VFR, and mounted it on the left switch block so I could manually operate the fan when stopped in traffic.
