Hmm, anyone think this would be possible. I need to pickup a bike from Timaru which will be a 150km back with the bike. I have a packrack as a place to tie it down too but I'm not sure how difficult that would be. I guess taking the wheels off will reduce the size down a bit and maybe tie them on flat with the frame on top. What do you think? Am I being ambitious or foolish?

Thanks

I say go for it.... just take the wheels off and use lots of tie downs and I reckon you will be sweet.

That's the kind of thing I want to hear.

Thanks for the encouragment guys :D Just realised I don't have any tie downs either. Anyone in Christchurch have some cords I could borrow for a day?

And sorry people, don't have a camera.

Should be sweet as! Just have to be aware of the limited clearance on both sides and take it easy. Don't want the push bike hitting oncoming traffic etc.

It's sounding hopeful. Just realised I won't be able to pick it up for another month so at least I can get some proper cords for tying it down. I might even have a camera then too.

Take the wheels off and use a whole bag of cable ties to strap it to your packrack, then take it all off, put the wheels back on again and pay $12 and put it on the bus. Sounds like a recipie for disaster to me.

Ride motorbike 1K down the road, go back for pushbike, ride pushbike 2 K's down the road, go back for motorbike. Repeat as necessary.

Skidmark used to carry a pushbike around on his GN250 all the time. He had a special fixture made for his packrack to hold it. Seriously. Never tool the wheels off or anything just hung it on the back. Frosty got the GN might still have the fixture.

I dont see why not, should be quite simple really. use bungee cords or something and rap it to the back.

some parts of the world people carry their whole family of 5, a friedge and two cabinets at the same time on a motorcycle.

let your imagination run wild. as long as it dosnt scratch the paint ofcourse ;)

Oh wow, that's some serious thinking gone into that. I'll take the diagram along for when I pick it up :) but seriously will give that a go. Fingers crossed I can find a camera to let you know how it goes.

With things like this it's best to just do it and explain how you did it after the event but then again you have had some interesting suggestions here I spose!

After seeing this picture, I reckon carrying a bike shouldn't be a worry.

Go for it buddy.
The screen I'm using to see KB now is the very same 24" on the back of this crazy mans Bandit.

It is accessible, they just don't like hotlinking. If you go to the page again and then click in the url bar and push enter it should load. (For future reference)

Very well done. Bet ya that rain had you worried?

you could probably tow it. Just make a rod to support it from the back of your bike, probably attaching to the head-post on the frame. I reckon that as pushbikes have a decent amount of caster it would pretty much look after itself, would probably want to check with some low speed riding first though...

Yeah a bit.
I knew the monitor was wrapped in the foamy plastic shit, and it'd take a bit to get through cardboard, but it was $700 afterall!

fix it with a couple of broom handles out to the side of the bike, like a side car. that way you dont have to worry about the bike falling over when you stop ;)

I'd be a bit worried about the petrol dripping out while paddling the canoe.

I also wonder about the keel design or maybe like the cup boats thats just a special cover to hide the real thing.

I'm picking the bike up today hopefully, so if you see a bike between Christchurch and Timaru with a pushbike on the back make sure you wave!

Still don't have a camera though sorry

We carried a push bike on a motorbike once, but there were 3 of us on the motor bike with two of us holding onto the pushbike out the side

Haha nice.

Just got back from the Timaru. Had the bike without wheels and seat and just stacked it all on top of each other.

Good fun
