I happened to talk to someone yesterday who was the victim of a motorcycle hit and run on the Paekakariki Hill road during September last year. He was on his bike and was hit from behind at speed by someone on a yellow anniversary edition R1. The victim was left in a seriously injured state and the R1 rider decamped from the scene. I had heard nothing about this before and was talking to someone else today who informed me that they had heard of 2 other similar incidents on the Rimutaka Hill Road apparently involving the same R1 and the same display of awesome riding skill and personal responsibility.
I've searched for a thread about this on here as I may have missed it due to infrequent visits. I can't find anything. So, can anyone tell me if there is any truth to the Rimutaka hill incidents and whether this nutcase has been caught?

From what I've heard, he hasn't been around for a while and he left a lot of bike bits behind at the last crash on the Rimutakas. It just sounds so bizzarre, the first incident I heard about was extreme but if it happened repeatedly how come there wasn't a lynching? I would have got a new pitchfork and everything.

Has Bryce Meads bought an R1 road bike? Bad taste I know, just couldn't resist.

There's a certain Auckland R1 rider who doesn't stand up and be accountable for his actions. Has wheelie-boy moved to Wellywood?

At least a yellow R1 would be able to blend in with other bikes easily.......
Surely he must be spotted soon.

My best attempt at a patched together understanding of the situation, is that whoever this is, he had a brief period of carnage down here that seriously injured at least two people and cost them thousands of dollars each. I'm just being nosey as hell because when the Paekak victim told me I was blown away that it had happened, but even more suprised that no-one had mentioned it until 6 months later. Surely someone knows something about this?

Oh dear. No new information to sate my curiosity. It seems that this must remain a mystery.

Could well be a stolen vehicle doncha think?
No matter how many screws loose a biker has, why would the want to trash an anniversary edition R1?

No matter how many screws loose a biker has, why would the want to trash an anniversary edition R1? He won it in a competition, second prize was two of them.

Yeah man, that's a strong hypothesis alright. I just thought that something as outrageous as what I heard would have caused more of a stir down here. Especially with the Rimutaka regulars. Maybe the Rimutaka incidents didn't happen?

Fucking oath tell me a about it! Months ago I had the brilliant idea to ride that hill with rain pissing down, winds 120km\h and some moron leaving a great trail of diesel all throughout the road. Cornering sure took a lot of concentration in trying to avoid the diesel.
....oh I never saw a yellow R1.
