Hey there,

I have recently acquired a 97/98 KX250. I have a problem with the clutch, it's binding up. When its first started and you click it down into 1st gear it will just stall. This happens when its cold and it takes a bit to loosen it up.

What is the normal cause of this? Could it be crap gearbox oil or possibly just old sticky clutch plates?

Probably the basket is worn and the plates are catching on the fingers. you can file the grooves out, but you can only do it once and given the age of teh bike its probably been done before. Pop the cover off and have a look.

It could also be the oil, just change it out for some ATF and see how it goes.
