Recently I bought a Leo Vince pipe and de-cat for my CB1000r from Moto.GP in the UK - http://moto.gb.com/index.html - The same thing from NZ dealer was going to be $900 more even with the GST charged on import.
I would highly recommend these guys as they were nothing but helpful, their site is a bit basic as you can't buy online, you need to email them with your requirements and they get back with a price, then make a Paypal transaction, 5 days later it's here ready to fit.
No point buying here and paying so much more.

Really? no point in buying here?

I assure you that the NZ importer is giving you the best deal they can. You are a private person, and as such, don't pay the duty etc.

If people continue to do this, importers won't stock anything, and you will have to get everything off the net.......might be a problem when you need something urgently.....

Actually on an item this size there was a GST charge (duty) by customs, but still way cheaper. As for urgently it usually takes longer for a shop to get you an item from their wholesaler than it takes to import the item yourself. The pipe I was after was quoted as $1400 here after they get it in. Less than $600 from the UK. I'm not a genius but my math skills say I'd rather be doing my shopping online.

I also just got my Leo Vince direct from Italy. Ordered and got it within 10 days. Cost me $450 delivered, vs the $1100 I was quoted at Red Baron! Someone is clipping the ticket big time!

Last time I checked there weren't a whole lot of people needing aftermarket exhausts 'urgently'... even still, The lead time from the US on aftermarket performance parts is usually much less than that from NZ shops and suppliers, not only that it's normally cheaper by a few hundred dollars even after including freight and duty - not unusual for it to 50% cheaper.

More than half the stuff I've ordered via bike shops recently has come from Japan with a lead time of 10 working days. If I was to go on eBay I could have had the items in 3-5 days and for a better price.

My point is that most things people need urgently are already in stock at motorcycle shops or one of the countries distributors at a reasonable price.

I know I'm dredging up an old thread but how have you found the pipe? I'm looking at getting the exact same thing for my CB  Did you go for a Power Commander PCV as well or something else? Nice sound and power increase?

I'm loving the bike so far, hopefully a decent pipe and tune will make it even better!

Yeah the pipe has been great and certainly cheaper than buying here. Definitely get the de-cat with it as it takes off a lot of weight too. Got the old pipe & cat' off without having to take off back tire, some forums say not possible, wasn't a drama at all.
Much less weight, good sound at idle - not too loud, but roars like like MotoGP racer at heavy rev's. It was the cheapest in the range but I preferred it's smaller size. I'm sure it has more punch now and have to watch the front wheel lifting with a heavy wrist twist. Very happy with the seller http://moto.gb.com/.
Didn't get Power commander as was told not necessary. Seems fine no missing or performance issues, just plug the Lamda sensor into the de-cat pipe.
Should have done it 18000 km ago.

Thank for answering my 20 questions! I've flicked off a request to Moto GB, hopefully their prices are still the same because that is exceptional value for a good quality slip-on plus mid pipe. I'm firmly with you on importing, I'll buy where I get the most bang for my buck every time.

The Power Commander is a tough call, there are so many conflicting opinions out there but I think I'll go with one just to be safe.

Nice bike too :niceone: I'm glad to see the tail tidy, what were they thinking!
