Any of you Palmy boys and girls know anything about this bike ? Im quite keen but obviously being in Dorkland its a bit tricky to go look the thing over.

If by chance you do. Any info on general condition would be great, but also any specifics like forks and fork seals and consumables like discs and pads, chain and sprockets and tyres would e awesome.

Cheers

Typical tardme. Pretty pictures but they don't really show anything of interest, not even a proper shot of the tyres.... Did he want a medal for cleaning his bike or does he actually want to sell it?

It's a Honda, so as long as you like the cock, it's great.

Righto,
I actually know the owner... What a fluke.
He is one of the fibre glass boys at work (Okay, Aeronautical Composites Technician), and has repaired and created a few bits for the Team Air Force ZXR450.
His dad works at a motorcycle shop in Palmerston North.

I can tell you this bike is straight, and has had no need for any fiberglassing in the current owners hands.
I can actually get some better pics of it tomorrow (assuming the owner hasn't taken it for a ride) and post them up for you.
I will also give you a report on it if you like.

The photos are actually on the Tarmac at Ohakea right outside my hanger....

It'd be my fourth Honda, so maybe I do...

Um... Considering he is too junior, and hasn't been deployed, he would gratefully receive a medal.
Unfortunately, unlike his co-workers, his cleaning medal won't be recognised by the Queen.

Good thought though.

And TBH, I don't think he really wants to sell it....

No worries.
When the current owner got it, it sounded awesome with that pipe on.
It was running well and truely on 4, so there should be no major problems with the engine (very expencive on these) side of things...

Will be a pleasure to do a report for you.

Oh, and as for getting it to Auckland, I have come up with a plan... A man has to think while doing dishes ;)
See, we can get back down to Ohakea very easily..... and I wouldn't mind doing a 550k trip on a 400 :)

Sweet.....
Yes, semi serious.

Actually the owner could well deliver it as good as I could... He gets the same privileges....

Okay,
As promised a report on the bike. Sorry, couldn't track down owner.

1991 NC30.
Over all in great condition.
Tyres:
Front: Pirelli Dragon Super Corser, about 10% worn Max.
Rear" Pirelli Diablo Strada, about 5% worn.

Plastic: Appears Original Honda Plastic, with after market Black Paint and Transfers. Couldn't find any repairs though. May well be factory black with after marker transfers.
Only damage i could see was on the RH mirror, see pic. Looks like it just got too close to a wall. Easy fix, if you are fussy. (Pic makes it look worse than it is).
Also, side covers are missing the screw that is lower most on the panel, but they are still secure.
The rear indicators look cool!

Brakes: Front discs have plenty of life left in them by the feel of it, as in no big lip on the edge. Didn't have a micrometer on me to get a measurement, sorry. Pads are almost new.
Rear Disc, and pads.. Well, a little tricky to see pads, but in no doubt WOF able...
On that, needs a WOF. the Owner will obtain this before sale, so no fears there.

I tried to check out the Hero Blobs to see how keen the previous owners had been... but they are missing.
I forgot to look at the Sump Plug too.... but realistically, if it was indeed raced once, then at least it was maintained.
I do suspect it was in a crash between Jan 2002, and Jan 2003 though.
I did a check on Carjam, and the K's decreased by 7947 at that time.... They have only recently caught up again.
So, replaced speedo at least. Could be nothing....
The fact that Carjam reckons the bike is Green is suspicious though. As i said, I couldn't really detect any crash damage though, so it was fixed up well if indeed it was involved in one.
The only other thing I can think of is there is no lock to the rear seat. There must be a trick to get it off, and access under there.

Over all a reasonably tidy machine by all accounts...
I will see if I can take it for a test ride on Tuesday.

No worries,
I like to help out where i can.

The update was the deletion of a photo.
You could almost make out the number plate in it, so I removed it.
The photo added no real value in any case....

Any more questions you have, please don't hesitate to ask.

The forks look in pretty good nick....
Couldn't really get a close look, as the bike is parked with the front against a wall, and the steering lock, and disc lock are on.
Not enough space.
Will get a better look for you on Tuesday.
