Today I encountered my first bike hater on the road, I was cruising up Riddiford st Wellington and just slowly, (honestly!) split my way up to the front of the traffic lights as I usually do and as I pass (slowly) a white van I hear 'IDIOT!'. Well I just chuckled to myself and thought he is just jealous because he has to wait in line haha.....I honestly didn't do anything out of the ordinary that would warrant that but oh well.
Anyway turning off and another set of lights and I hear incomprehensible angry yelling out the window as the white van drove past......
Man some people really need to lighten up!!

He's just jealous that a hot chick can ride a bike and yet his mum won't let him even get his licence!

sheeiit, If I remember rightly they were all under 20, which would make them about 50 now.

Haters are everywhere. I once walked slowly out of the car park of a shop in central Wellington. Some moron behind me in a grey Toyota took exception to this and honked his horn. I calmly turned around and gave him the universal symbol for f u. This riled him up so much that he drove back and forth in the street shouting obscenities. He even got out of the car and asked me to "come here" in a loud voice. I would have, if I had not been in the company of women and children who may not have liked to witness an outpouring of blood. Don't let haters get to you, just feel sorry for them because they must be having a really bad day...
I lane split all the time on the bike and have had nothing but love for that though...

Please note I did not say who's blood. For all I know he would have beaten the crap out of me. The point is it may very well have gone violent if I had been alone. There are haters everywhere and of course the best thing to do is ignore them. It is just sometimes very hard to do.

I've gotten used to the abuse I get from cagers. They seem to be at their worst when they're stuck in traffic and I ride past. It's their fault for being in a cage during rush hour traffic.

caseye
1st April 2010, 20:27
Course it's their fault! did you or i make them get into their car in the morning?
Did they make a conscious decision to take the car,? not a bus? or their other means of transport? Oh yeah thats right, they don't have a motorbike!
Soooo lets eee we will simply HATE everyone who owns a motorbike and who rides past us at sensible speeds leaving us to stew in our own juices in ques.

Like getting shitty at a biker is gona make the traffic move faster. That's the mindset of these fuckers. Ya know ya winning when ya in front. One of my many mantras on these occasions

What's brassing me off lately are the truck and car drivers as well as passengers that flick their cigarettes out the window. I have copped a few in the chest and one in the neck between my helmet and collar. Would have rather been stung by a bee lol

Makes me even more pissed off as I'm also a smoker and always consider who is behind me....

Yeah just cracked me up how incensed he was over the whole incident....big fucking deal hey? I normally take off at lights at a reasonable speed as to not hold everyone up so whats the big deal??
Like I say he really needs to get a life if hes getting all upset about that!

Just one of prices of biking. Ya need to get one of those plastic grenades. Just not too sure how you would hide it but the next tosser who flicks their ciggie just roll up and toss the plastic granade thru the open window. Probably highly illegal but remember in the dock you can say anything you like with complete impunity. And who knows with the right judge you just might get off with a warning.

Must be April fools day, or people eating too much chocolate ahead of the weekend.

I had my first agro split retaliation too today. I was at kaiwharawhara heading north up the old hutt road. Split carefullly to the front at the ngaio gorge lights. Lexus in right lane sees me coming and without indicating pulls left to cut me off - taking off at great speed. In no time he was up to 90+ in the 60kph zone.

I just held back and let him go for it.

Usually it isn't us - we are just the straw that breaks the camels back or an avenue to vent past frustrations.

I don't take it too personally. Good thing I have an absorbent pillow when needed though.

Is funny really as I use to bike (as in push bike) from Silverstream to Welly and every morning. I had the same clown in the same car try and get as close to me as he could at speed (his not mine). I wear headphones so could never hear him coming and always kacked mah dacks.... Was never able to get his plate #. After a week of this I changed tac, left earlier every morning until I eventually found where he worked. After some constructive counselling with the individual I never had a problem after that ;)

Some people just do not comprehend what there seemingly quick smart arse actions can have..

sheesh I'm missing out!!!! I don't get any abuse on my bike?

Might be the fact I'm the size of a house
or that I'm normally going twice as fast as most traffic and don't notice

but I do get lots of thumbs up, waves and smile (especially from ugly woman for some reason)

I pulled up next to some guy at the lights once, was in one of those misti gto things, he rolled down his window and said something like stupid biker why dont you just fuck off and die, wtf! asked him what he was on about and he just yelled more abuse at me, needless to say when the lights went green I was outa there pretty quick lest he decide to put his words into action. Thats the only abuse I recall, though after that getting the finger from a cager probably doesn't quite affect me so much.

I had the same in the cage a few months ago. So I pulled in front of him just slightly!! But fark did he have a rabid!!

I lean out the window and stick my middle finger out as far as it would go and fully french-lick it up and down, and then insert it in my mouth and pump it in and out as fast as I can. I have never seen someone so angry in all my life. Fuck it was funny. :killingme

The SV didn't deem a LExus a worthy challenger.... plus he was cutting over and I didn't fancy becoming a retread.

I have nothing to prove... (except for my absorbent pillow).

Try this on, when ya get a cage looney just smile at them, if they realy go off their nut just laugh like fuck at em, it will wind them up the moron scale just a bit further.

And remember " Fuck it, ride on, it don't mean nothing". because we only let ourselves choose to be angry.

or "fucking looking forward to it bro" and start wailing on his car with the kevlar gloves, that'd probly shut the fucker up, and when ACC makes bikers ride without registered plates I can get away scott free too :D

First time I laughed, pshame I had a tinted visor on, second time I just shook my head and felt pity for the man that got so upset over something so trivial

Though bloody hard to read Daves message is as clear as a bell! And 100% accurate.Best thing any of us can do is leave the situation behind, if they follow, simply ride straight to the nearest Police car/bike or station.Seriously people these days this is not just likely IT IS Happening more and more.

I'm normally up for a bit of car driver stirring but have lately come to the same conclusion as BD.That p shit is out there in quite large numbers now and is being used right across the board so now I limit myself to flicking them the finger and quickly leaving the scene.
