View Full Version : Creative uses for old helmets?

So I have an HJC HQ1 that went for a skid down the road the other day with my head inside it. Obviously it is now unusable and surplus to requirements. Anyone got any novel ideas for what to do with old helmets?

Our list so far:

mailbox
pot plant holder
bird house
clothes peg holder
fishbowl
bedside lamp
gatepost heads (would need a matching pair)

Give it to a Harley rider who still uses the helmet his German grandfather used in WW2. He will be your devoted friend forever.

mailbox.....Visor for the door?...
pot plant holder....maybe, but.....na fuck it, its a good idea.
bird house.....Is that for one wood pigeon or eight sparrows?
clothes peg holder.....you use a clothes line?
fishbowl.....Will need very small fish with a visual defect.
bedside lamp....As a lamp shade, not really eh?
gatepost heads (would need a matching pair) ....the cost puts this idea out.

I have an old one under the house that a family of spiders moved in to.

They seem to like it, and they are quiet, so i'll let them stay.

Why is it that Harley riders strive to emulate the all american dream of being a winner, riding off into a golden sunset on an all american bike and they wear the helmet of the team that came second in both world wars?

Assuming it still has a "good side"- cut it down the middle, drill a hole in the side and fit a cheap quartz clock mechanism to turn it into a wall clock... You'll need to glue the visor 1/2 into place though.

Because they touch themselves at night.

That's a fantastic idea - I love it! The helmet is in pretty good nick actually, just a wee scuff. I could make TWO clocks and give one away as a gift!

Waaayyy more boring than the other posts but the Red Cross used to appreciate old lids for training purposes, battle scars would add authenicity :)

Obviously your heads ok but how's the rest of your body......and your bike...............The 80yr old that knocked me off the bike about a week ago nearly got to wear mine

Try your hand at a design. That way you can do your own custom lid next if you like your work

That would be a high possibility I guess.

A little bit bruised, but much, much better off than my poor gixxer :(

It's already heavily "graphicked", so that's not an option unfortunately.
