Had a bit of a nightmare last night. Stuck countersunk cap screw that holds the heat shield onto the zorst rounded. Drill off head and remove heat shield hoping to grab stub with vicies. Hmm not much stud left, ok easy out time. Broke off the easy out - feck. Lot of careful drilling and have easy out out. Try next size up but wont grip as stud only about 5mm deep. Try driving in torx bit - simply make hole bigger.

Not 100% sure there is any thread left on one side of hole but only option left is to rethread hole. Problem is it is only 7mm or so deep so seems I need a bottoming tap (as opposed to a taper tap or plug/seconding tap). I could just buy one but I've never had much luck with taps so I'll probably only screw it up. Is there any nice person out there who is willing to try and rethread the hole? If it all goes pair shaped cause of the short hole I'll just go up to a M7 or M8.

Cheers R

Sorry Ryan,

checked last night and I can't find a 6mm bottoming.

I've got the usual 6mm taper - plus bottoming in 8, 10 and 12mm
