Hi

At 40:1, for 10 litres of 95 I'll add 1/4 litre (250mls) of 2 stroke?

thanks

Yes, 40:1 = 250ml of oil per 10L of petrol

The math if you dont believe me.
40 = 4 x 10
250ml = .250 of a L
.250L x 4 = 1L
1L x 10 = 10L

The other way

10L = 10000ml
10000/40 = 250

That works for any ratio.
The number of mls ie 10000 = 10L
divided by the ratio 40:1

10000/40 = 250ml
or
10000/50 = 200ml
or
10000/32 = 312.5ml

or you could be like me, buy a measuring thing that has 40:1 30:1 etc on the sides and fill it up to the 10L mark and not think about it haha

Go to a shop that sells outboard motors & they will have a calibrated jug for measuring your oil to different ratios. Takes the doubt out of my maths.

(damn, beaten too it.)

40:1 is simply 25mls per litre if your mixing lesser (or odd amounts) other than 10L.

Next question 99CR250, why 95? try Gull 98 or BP Ultimate, much cleaner than 95/96.

Dont use gull 98 use Bp ultimate. The gull web site doesnt recommend there ethonal mixed fuel for 90% of bikes, probably ok but would rather use BP even though it's not that cheap.

some mobils do 98 as well (has a purple coloured handle) aparantly better than bp - mobil 98 has a lowest octane rating of 97.5 while bp 98 has around 93. So I have been told, dont know if its bullshit or not. But thats what I normally use. Very few mobils have it though

Watch the mobils you go to for this. Down here most have the purple 98 but most are also ethanol mixed fuels which aren't reccomended for most bikes.

Hey thanks, I'd run Force 10 in my 4 strokes and in my XR8 and my son's KX85, never had a problem with any of them.
But as you say [and here's the link... http://www.gullpetroleum.com.au/public/documents/6/9/compatibility.pdf ] it's not recommended.
I just like to support the independents I guess.
