Soooo many different specialisations... if for arguments sake someone needed to take a residential building company to "court" for breach of contract... what sort of lawyer would they need?

Contract Lawyer?

Most firms will have someone who would specialise in contract law.

A property lawyer might be a good start. My parents use one whenever they buy or sell a house.

You need a "Civil Litigation" specialist. I just happen to know one, but she's based in Queenstown.

Bush lawyer is a common name of a group of climbing blackberry plants (subgenus Micranthobatus of the genus Rubus) that are found in New Zealand, many of them rampant forest vines. The Māori language name of the plant is tātarāmoa.

Tātaramoa or bush lawyer has hooked thorns that snag clothing and rip or prick the skin.[1]

The colloquial English name is often said to have been given because once this thorny plant becomes attached to you it will not let you go until it has drawn blood:

is this residential builder a member of "Certified Builders" or "Master Builders" because if they are, Id start there.

I've dealt with the Master Builders before... it took them 4 weeks to acknowledge my initial query and only after a number of unanswered phone calls, they still ended up referring me back to the builder. Pah! Thanks for the suggestion though...
