Note:

Ok - logo at 250mm on a black T, is $23.50 + shirt + postage.

Contact MSTRS------------> http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/member.php/1844-MSTRS

A point about the shirts...
They must be black.
They must be clear black where the logo is to go. I can't place over top of an existing print.
Logo can be on front or back (specify).
They can be a used shirt with something already on the other side.
The material must be able to stand high heat (like...no silk!! Or nylon, etc). Standard T material is ideal.
Enclose the money and a postpaid, reply addressed bag. I don't want to be collating bank payments and shirts...gets messy and apt for errors.
If you don't have access to my address in the Group forum, then pm me.... MSTRS.

The Mission Bay parking thing is off the agenda for Saturday, we will still go there but looking at it yesterday, it was evident that parking there after midday is a problem. Not so much for bikes because we can slot anywhere, but the one bike per park thing? na!

We should have that logo available for transfer to teeshirts, please post up here if you would like one. At this stage it will be a you buy your own T-shirt and send for the logo to be affixed with a return pre-paid envelope. The cost is yet to be determined, but wont be exhorbitant. So, who wants one?

Oh I never thought of getting some of that fabric, it would be water proof too

Big question here though. Do we have the logo on the front of the shirt or the back. I am going front.

Cool - I'm in for a t-shirt. I'll go front printed as well. My "Easy Target" t-shirt is printed on the back, which is no use when I wear it under my jacket!

Yeah, I am thinking front for me too, my thinking is we are coming into winter and we wont be standing around in t-shirts for much longer. We will be wearing jackets and only the fronts on t-shirts will be visable. I want to get another fluro jacket done too

Imagine that. I am actually opposed to the wearing of fluro on a bike and here I am wanting a second one :pinch:

May be interested in a t-shirt transfer - could put it on the front of my original ACC protect T-shirt.

Sorry mate,

Its the BP on the corner of Ti Rakau and Harris Road, just up from Heading Home and that curry house that made my arse look like a Japanese flag the next day after a chook vindy.....

Ha! bloody ha. Hows the A R S E there me ol mate?
Yes pelase mom put me down for one of those wonderful Logo jobies.
Time change is no big deal.
Lets go people, this is the first of many scheduled ( yes I said scheduled as in already planned and in the pipeline) for this year.
Nick and his boss are going ahead, yes, but we don't have to roll over and take it lying down do we?
So lets get as many of us , our friends , their freinds and anyone else who rides anything with two wheels and a motor to rock up and ride with us to show the Govt that the Bikers are not going away and will continue to protest thier disfavour of their Govt's handling of our ACC.
Allowing for time changes my group will be riding from the BP autobahn Papakura off the southern motorway just past the Papakura off ramp, naturally thats heading South.
We plan to leave at the appointed time , to ride down to the Drury off ramp, to circle under the motorway and head north, using only the slow lane and sticking to an approximate speed of 70 K's per hour all the way into town.
We will have one or two people who will look out for the riders and endeavour to keep cars from entering our group.
We want as big a group of riders as we can get, travelling at a safe speed and distance from one an other taking up a single lane and travelling as a block, No cars!
Getting off at Kyhber Pass, turning right into Khyber pass road, then left into Park road and up and over into the domain to meet up with the other groups heading in from all points of the compass.

Hence the ride name . ACC Ride = Auckland City Compass ride.

So please go and tell eveyone you know, lets get lots or bikes and riders to this ride and have a bit of fun on the way to the Domain.Where we will hear from the inimitable Mom, Fatt Max. I beleive, The Rape Crisis group and one or two others.
Be prepared to go from there again en mass to points mentioned as above for lunch and a park up.

No law breaking just good old fashioned safe riding and getting a message to the people of Auckland and the Govt.

"No Way
Nick"

Chhers and lets be having you.

Weather permitting I will be shouldering the geetar, otherwise I am happy to speak if anyone wants to write something for me.

I did the 100km Trailwalk at the weekend which proved to me that when you have a common goal and a common belief, you can achieve anything. This is how I see our protest and our actions, a belief and a goal...

So lets have it, as Rick Barker said in Wellington in Feb, he's never known a biker to back down. As we say in the UK, No Surrender...!!!

Nothing stopping us from making a shit load of noise while we are riding around the place though eh :D Remebering the last ride we did up Queen Street, even plod was grinning at the uproar we were making. This time we will have 4 wheeled back guard contributing a little bit of their own noise :shit:

Do you mean over the top of the KB logo... or did you roll your own last time?

I'd be happy to get the No Way Nick logo over the KB one (although Spank probably wouldn't be as keen on the idea..?) Can the t-shirt transfers have a solid white background to cover up what's behind??

My Easy Target Hi-Vis is pretty tired now, so a No Way Nick replacement seems like a good idea to me as well.

I haven't got the KB logo on the front of mine - so it is a blank canvas awaiting a suitable message :-)

Note:

Times have been bumped out an hour because of the March up Queen st.
Now starting at 10.30am

Phew, I'm so glad you were able to change the start time, I was worried that we'd have a clash with the anti mining people. Those hippies can be quite vicious!

Do you think I'll be able to attend the March Against Mining and meet you all at Queen Street on my bike afterwards? (I'm a bit of an anti mining hippy myself)

I spoke to one of the Greenpeace March organisers this morning, he is quite happy with the us changing the time, we should get to the bottom of Queen St after they have finished their march. We dont want to muddy their protest, and we dont want to muddy ours. You should be able to take part in the Compass ride part of our protest, and then peel off and join the hippies at the start of their protest. It wont work the other way around, we are avoiding them you see

You can probably down load the logo and print it onto a t-shirt transfer though. MSTRS uses a different process.

Yep, you could do that. Print the image in reverse in that special paper and then press with an iron.
My process is similar, but I'm actually applying high heat and heavy, even pressure using a press, to a special vinyl to fuse it onto the fabric.
I have to cut a white triangle, with the words cut out of it (one reason for the black shirt)...press that onto the shirt, and then cut the red part, with the ACC in the corners, and then fuse that on top of the white bit. It's quite time consuming BUT very effective and lasts 'for ever'.
Anyone seen the Bitches shirts? Same process.

I have always thought that once you have viewed a thread its counted as such (ie: just the one)
Doesn't matter how many time each individual member looks.

This is just the begining , no guts no glory, just good old fashioned 'we wont bow down Minister' so dont get to comfortable.
Next Saturday will be the first of several things planned for the coming months.

The Mission Bay parking thing is off the agenda for Saturday, we will still go there but looking at it yesterday, it was evident that parking there after midday is a problem. Not so much for bikes because we can slot anywhere, but the one bike per park thing? na!

Fair enough mate, but where there is a park, a singls bike should take full advantage I suppose.

I'm lucky to squeeze my arse in a coach stop these days so I may park by the fountain

As a matter of course the AAG should always endeavour to park 1 Bike per park, we pay more than "them" so STUFF "them"
Thats how I see it.
Maximum effort to make sure the general public know why we do park that way but we should do it every chance we get.

And Plan B is.....
Talked about using the road/walk way to the beach front yesterday.
Enter from the Bus lane left (before the main car-park) at the first intersection opposite Starbucks and next to the Police Hut (no not Pizza Hut F-Max)
There are bollards but bikes can fit through.

There were three of bikes there yesterday and we all couldn't park together....first in best dressed I say!.....:shifty:

We will endevour to keep it interetsing each time and try not to stay on the 'same shit different day' scenario.

There was a time change that is proving impossible to get altered in each place the original post appears. We are meeting at the leave points at 10 am for a 10:30 am departure. The meet point at the Domain is 11am. How many times we have to say it. All times (except one on the Home Page) are correct.
I cant edit the home page post, and besides, 9 out 10 members dont even visit the home page.
I asked MT to change the times by 1 hour, he even added that the times had changed slightly.
He obviously missed one?
Times are very clear in Post #1 of this thread (which is the most important) and they are also correct on the Calander Event (again, most important)
The home page? not so much.

Weather beautiful here on the shore, although we had rain at 4am as well. Thanks for the warning southsiders: I won't take continued good weather for granted!

I'm off to be an honorary westie in about half an hour... see you all later.

Over 100 bikes riders and pillions attended.
$270 cash dollars donated by those riders and pillions attending, to the Rape Crisis Girls and boys, pity they didn't show up today, would have loved to see their faces when presented with that amount of money by a bunch of hairyarsed bikers.
4 points of The Compass, what a damnd good idea Maha.Worked a treat, each and every point got over 20 motorcycle riders and pillions.
Each point arrived at the domain intact with no incidents or acidents.
A suggestion for our next ride. 80 KPH in the Middle Lane wherever possible I feel would work best, slow lane too much interference by dim witted cage drivers who are so slow they can't even get out of their own way.
Another suggestion for the next Compass ride.
Please can we Go Down Q Street from the Domain, all bikes on idle all the way then and no clutch riding or engines overheating holding on hills.
Apart form those two things I'm very happy with our turn out and the enthusiasm shown by all those diehard souls who braved wind rain, slet and snow to ride with us today.
Awesome job Mom. as always.
Bodir well executed mate.
Looking forward to each and every rider who attended today to reup for the next one and bring another rider with them.

Cheers caseye, today was very successful due to all the people you mentioned and to everyone that turned up.
We had a fantastic day out, parking at Missson Bay was not a problem. That road down to the beach had plenty of room.
The Auckland Action Group will be onto thier next project very soon.
Big thanks to those in the AAG that made this happen, from the very first idea through to lunch today.
Special thanks to Bodir for leading the way and to Chasio for the rear command, job well done lads.

What a fantastic day! I was delighted with the turn out today, not bad considering the amount of time that has passed since our last protest. The momentum is still there, and will build from what we got today I am certain. A few personal highlights from today, the number of bikers that turned out despite the crappy weather at the start of the day. Managing to catch the flag before it took off all by itself (thank goodness for bungy cords is all I can say). Hearing the encouragement from the assembled during my speech, thanks guys, makes all the difference. Raising $290 for Rape Crisis - man you guys rock! Making a shed load of noise up Queen Street :D that siren is bloody annoying :innocent: Getting the waves and claps from people on the side of the road, and best of all the train driver along the water front that gave us a big toot of his horn. Fabulous day. Thank you to everyone that came along, to the organisers, the marshalls, dont forget to tell 10 friends for this was only the beginning.

Hello everyone – on behalf of the Auckland Action Group I would like to welcome you and thank you for your support. Well, it has been a while since we have been here. I hope you have all had a relaxing and safe holiday season and a not too stressful return to work. Welcome to the first of a series of planned protests to send a simple message to Minister Myth;
We are back, we are not pacified and,
we are not satisfied and,
We are NOT GOING AWAY!

Part of today’s gathering is to fundraise for Rape Crisis, if you have not already done so, please give your gold coin donation to one of our collectors. Put your hands up guys, they will be moving around during the next little while.

We started this campaign with the slogan “Whos Next?” I see a few of our original protest t-shirts out there and our flag. They are as valid now as they were when we started.

There was a great show of the bikers being listened to after the BIKEOI last year, though I think the raised voices of several thousand bikers shouting BULLSHIT at Minister Myth may have played a part in the opening of doors in that regard. Regional protest rides and the attendance of bikers at Public Meetings all over the country wherever there was an opportunity to have our say, was unexpected by many, and certainly not appreciated by some. Low key but effective protests with good media coverage were very effective, with Nics Myth calling us belligerent (have not been called that since I was a teenager) and Melissa Lee saying she felt intimidated by our visit a few days before Christmas when we delivered a lump of coal to her office. I have been called a lot of things in my life, but intimidating is not one of them.

Our protests were that successful, we apparently won, and the huge levy increases proposed were scaled back to a more realistic level. I am not sure who defined realistic, or victory in this instance but they got it wrong. We have not claimed any victory and are not appeased at all, contrary to what you may hear from the spinners in Wellington. Oh, I mean spin doctors for Myth and ACC.

Let’s just debunk the LIE that ACC is broke. ACC is NOT broke, despite the government spinners telling us it is. The reality is ACC did not return as good a result financially as was expected last fiscal year, it did show a loss by comparison to projections. ACC have described this as a temporary problem primarily due to returns on international investments being lower than anticipated due to the world economic recession. Mind you the investments still returned around 3% not a bad return all things considered. Claim rates were also higher than forecast and medical costs very much increased. So ACC did not make the profit expected and reported a paper loss. It still managed to pay a dividend of $700M to the government though so things were not that bad. In fact in cash terms ACC had after all payouts $1B more in funds than it did at the beginning of the year. Can someone define broke again for me?

The government want ACC to be a fully funded model, this has been a requirement since the late 1990’s, originally this was to be by 2014, but the date has been pushed out to 2019 as a result of pressure brought to bear. This allows them to make smaller increases in levies than originally proposed, but make no mistake about this; the levies will continue to rise in large lumps for a few more years yet.

All this to fully fund a contingent liability. Now I wont bore you all with a big pile of accounting jargon, but basically they have estimated how much they will have to pay out in the future for claims and put that figure in their accounts as a potential future expense, and that is the amount that they are wanting to have in the bank (or invested earning interest more accurately). The question is why? The answer was given last week by Ross Wilson in a radio interview – to make the scheme more attractive to Australian Insurers, when the government sell it.

The problem for me with this is ACC have a social contract with the people of New Zealand and that can not be over ridden so easily.

ACC was designed by Owen Woodhouse to provide a scheme for all Nzers to benefit from in times of injury. Begun in 1974, it was (and is) unique in the world, because it negated the need to sue through the courts. In return for giving up that right, we received a system of compensation that treated everyone fairly. It was never user-pays, everyone contributed equally, and the fund covered you regardless of fault. The combined community provided the resources so that an individual need not be disadvantaged through injury. Everyone subsidised everyone else. Within those parameters, there is no justification for treating any group of potential claimants any differently.

What do we want? It’s simple. No-fault setting of levies. One category for all motor vehicles. No separate levy for motorcycles. Equal contributions. Don’t penalise us for our choice of transport, or our leisure activity. Don’t penalise us for our vulnerability. Accidents and injuries are the result of mistakes. And for motorcyclists, half of these mistakes aren’t even ours. We should not be paying higher levies for being the victim of a mistake.

Well it did not take too long for WHOS NEXT to make its reality known. In fact some people are only just realising the impact of the changes that are being brought to ACC at the moment. Our initial outrage came with a very healthy dose of reality, we always knew that the powers that be were attempting to slam us in the face with a huge levy hike, hoping like hell we would accept a lesser one with good grace as we have done in the past. Well slap us hard enough and often enough and we bite back, this time we bring friends with us. There are many other groups small and large that are being, and will be adversely affected by the changes that are happening to ACC, I invite all of them to join with us, use our energy and strength to bring your message to the government too.

I want to share a quote with you. “Our social responsibilities are not to be tested by clever equations or the latest economic dogma. They depend on decent fellow feeling and the ideas and ideals that support it. That I am sure is the continuing attitude of New Zealanders.”

Well I think that is enough from me for now. I think we all deserve a bit of light entertainment. So I would like to invite Fatt Max to step up here and strut his stuff.

Thanks for that, don’t forget folks that all of FM music is available for sale and download at amplifier.co.nz, all proceeds raised are donated to charity.

We have had a bit of a count up of the money raised today and I am delighted to announce we have gathered up $290, you guys are fantastic!

Well done guys! Thank you very much.

Stay safe, see you soon.

Keep June 27th free for a national day of mourning type protest. It is the Sunday prior to the levy increases coming into effect.

There will most likely be another protest before that, look for May 29th or 30th at this stage. This could possibly be an International event, complete with treats at the end :D

You lot could have an ACC protest too. That would be an Auckland Copy Cat protest ride

Do you feel sullied and unusual? For an eye opening experience (heh, heh) you should attend a Tauranga Posuer Crew function.
I certainly do now Gwinch, such a play on words... and their not even mine!!! so is that a double entendre?

Mom, Maha, Fatt Max and other organisers, job well done, congrats to you all. And thanks to the man above for holding off on the wet stuff.
