Info on roads north of Coromandel?

I've always gone as far North as Cormandel (Coro loop) and then across to Matarangi / Kuaotuna in the past.
Would like to explore the roads further North and check out places like Colville , Port Charles and Port Jackson. On google it looks like between Colville and Coromandel is sealed.But don't know the condition of roads to other destinations.
I've got a roadbike and am a nana :scooter:,so only want to be riding on sealed roads and not gravel.
Is there anybody with some local knowledge who can enlighten me ?

last time i did that road up north of coro was about twenty five or more years ago in an old HT station wagon on a surf trip and from memory the roads were ok..............but have to say my memory is a little clouded

As of about three years ago, seal from Coromandel town to Colville store. And Coromandel town across to Whitianga. Gravel all the rest, from Coro town north on the other side , through Kennedy bay, gravel starts a few kilometres out of town , past Driving Creek. Colville store to the cape was good gravel, though.

if you dont like gravel.. i wouldnt go much futher than coleville...
shes all gravel up there...

Thanks for the info guys. So it's seal up to Colville and the rest is gravel. One day I will need to get me a dual purpose/ adventure bike.

After Colville the seal runs out after 6km on the Port Charles Road. They will eventually seal it all.

Personally I'm happy on metal (but not fast) so even the Zed has made it over to Sandy Bay to a mates bach last summer. Way more fun on a dual purpose bike though.

There are basic campsites all over the Coromandel, its well worth a visit.

But sadly, I think your right.
I would prefer the Thames district council to modify "that bridge", that Zukin came to grief at, as the coroner requested/ordered them to do over two years ago.:angry:
An ER6 and any other road bike can comfortably get to either Rocky Bay or the tip if the rider is experienced and isn't worried about stone chips on belly pans etc.
Ma n Pa Kettle drag caravans up to Port Jackson every summer.
