I was at home in bed sleeping this morning, and at about 3am I was woken up by the sound of sirens. The sirens got louder and louder, and then I heard a car which didn't sound like a cop car fully flooring it past my house, followed by 2 cop cars about 10 seconds later.
I jumped out of bed as fast as I could, took my AA batteries out of the battery charger, fitted them to my scanner and turned the scanner on.
I could hear the cops talking to comms, telling them where the offending vehicle was going, the speeds involved, and so on.
The dumb fucks in the offending vehicle decided to do some 'laps' around the hood, and one of the cops clicked onto that and laid out some spike strips. 2 arrests were promptly made.
I'll assume that the vehicle was stolen, even the 'boy racers' don't cruise around at 3am on a normal Thursday morning.
Well done police on a successful outcome.
It seems that many people don't want chases to happen because of the danger that they pose, but if the cops saw your stolen vehicle being driven/ridden down the road and the offender drove/rode off as fast as possible, surely you would want them to give chase?

Bet it won't be on the news, 'cause nobody died or had a serious crash. We don't seem to hear of the "good" outcomes, only the ones the media can sensationalise...

Agreed. However, if they decide to do a runner then they get what they deserve. If it means an accident and they kill themselves - so be it. Unfortunately, it seems they tend to like to take out innocent bystanders as well.

Well, we always hope they get what they deserve, anyway... Would be great if the Police could have access to those newfangled EMF devices that "shoot" the cars electrics and stop the vehicle.

Saw that, yeah, tazers are a newsworthy item. Silly boy, at least he had the sense to give up before he was tazered! Now the EMF is like a Tazer for cars, eh?

Easier.. the electronic tag things that get put on criminals ankles (not sure if they do it in this country, not being a criminal..) could be adapted to have a similar effect.

A mate of mine was on home D, he had an electronic bracelet on his ankle.

If every vehicle was fitted with a tamper proof Tazer, aimed at the driver and was activated by a road rule breach...........? :shit:
Do you think driver behaviour would improve? (I know, hush my mouth  )

One that blows their foot off if they leave the designated property or tried to remove the bracelet (anklet?) would be a good thing IMHO.

Yeah that would be like having a news headline like "The cat did not go up the tree today" or "The robber didn't do a runner and just pulled over..." it just doesn't sell papers or increase viewer ratings.

Best damn idea I ever heard.
All known crims should wear one and if they come within 20 metres of each other they should both explode.

Nope, basically EVERY driver in NZ would crash every time they drove!
Asians wouldn't even get out of the garage!

Good to hear a positive result. Shame they can't use claymores instead of spike strips!

But we who are law abiding wouldn't be able to exceed the speed limit and ride in bus lanes on the motorway and sneak through amber lights... :innocent:

Yet it could be a positive, let the boys know how many are being caught - might help a few, (okay I know it's a dream..), to think a bit?
