For those who are going to see it, I'm not doing a write up or anything....

I'm just asking for the sake of sanity of others watching the movie....

Cheering and clapping at the screen is not, I repeat NOT cool...infact it rather ghey with a capital G and H and oh hell...it's just bloody annoying!!!

.....this movie almost made me cry....and I would have to if it wasn't for those pesky dressed up kids with light sabers and that damn "Chewy"!

Why do people have to be such nerds....hurumphf....who bloody cares if you read the books....why ruin the movie for others?

............

To summarise:

The movie was W I C K E D !!!!! The special effects were aaaamaaaazing! :niceone:

I think if you go to one of those cult movie premieres, you've got to expect the die hard style geeks to be out in force.

It's more the atmosphere than the actual movie that gets them going.

Looks good though, can't wait to see it myself.

Same. Episodes I and II were weak- aimed purely a little kids. This one should be a lot better I hope.

what I think is going to be screwed up, is that they released the 4th, 5th then 6th movie, waited til everyone forgot about it and Lucas ran out of money, then (with amazing new technology) made 1,2 then 3. If you watch them in sequence, the story is meant to follow on, fairy fluff, but the graphics from movie to movie would go; cool, big wow, unreal, shit, ooooooo, wft?

Did you like episodes 1 and 2?

After all the hype building episode 1 up to be so great, I had to go see it twice because I couldn't believe how bad it was... I thought maybe the first time I saw it I was too tired or something and didn't get it. ;)

I saw Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy on tuesday (cheap day at the movies : :2thumbsup ) and thought it was pretty darn good. It's totally different to the books, well, the overall storyline is. It's like they've taken some of the classic bits out of the books and put them together to make a different story, I thought it worked well :).

[edit: despite not liking episodes 1 and 2 much (they're kinda entertaining, and the yoda fight in episode 2 was hilarious :killingme ) I'm definately going to see episode 3 sooner or later...]

I'm hoping that 3 is going to be better than 1 & 2 as I thought they were pants. Apparently though in an interview with Lucus he said that the older generation prefered 4,5 & 6 and the younger 1 & 2. So to those of you that are under or over 30 do you agree?

I think I will be going to see it on the Tuseday special :D

I don't remember any kissy stuff in episode 1??? And there was kissy stuff in episode 6 (Princess Leia and Han Solo) and Episode 2 (Which bit it big time cept for Yoda going medieval :Punk: ) But I think that episode 3 is definitely a "big screen" movie. The action scenes are AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWESOME!!

The fights are just so well choreographed and there are lots of them. You get to see how Annikan becomes Darth Vader from the name, the personality to the dress up. A lot of plot holes were filled for me with this movie....the only problem I had was with DV doing a primal scream....didn't suit his new character....but seeing a lotta New Zealanders throughout the movie was a little funny too. But over all...I think this is the better of the three new ones.

Did I mention that I think R2D2 rocks :Punk:

Oh, and yeah...Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy wasn't as good as I thought it would be, although the scene of the worlds being built was humourous and really awe inspiring....other than that...for the first time ever from me...I really did prefer the books and the TV series...I'm glad I didn't have to pay to see it.

Yehaw Pah...Saw this yesterday, had to fend through the crowds to get in, 10 people were a lot for a screaning I thought. With the opening titles I could feel the pang of excitement rush through my vains again. I was alive. Until Hayden Christianson started talking, it was at this point I would have preferred watching a lump of wood. Wait, that is the best way to describe his acting. Wooden.
Darth Vader ended up being a pansy. Palpatine went Postal, but anyone watching the previews knew this anyway! And Yoda, alas poor Yoda. Feel a great disturbance in the force I do.

But hey, much better than the last two! Darker, edgier, more evil, however it still has a betty crocker feel to it.

George Lucas is re-releasing ALL the movies again at the theatre starting with a New Hope in 2007 to coincide with the 30th anniversary. One per year, and you want to know what makes them super uber duper, the fact that he is making them into 3D!

I think Episode 2 suffered for not being so well choreographed in a few of the lightsaber battles. Yoda was pretty cool but Anikan and that old dude, forgotten his name, most of that fight was watching their faces lit up by their sabers flying past, seemed pretty piss poor

Hitchhikers was brilliant :2thumbsup

Hitchiker's sucked. Though knowing DA and the fact that he HATED his "fans" with a passion, it didn't surprise me to find out that the screenplay, which he apparently put a great deal of effort into, bore little relationship to anything written in or about the Hitchiker's Milieu.

Episode III otoh was awesome. Though Hayden's method acting could probably have benefitted from not standing in a Forest for three months pretending to be a tree. It's kind of hard to think of Darth Vader as a whiney crybaby. Who reminds me of the "Log" adverts from Ren & Stimpy.

Oh yeah. Rule #86, Evil Overlord's handbook. Do NOT under any circumstances engage a hero in a fight that involves any kind of sword near lava.

Did I mention that I think R2D2 rocks :Punk: I thought one of the funniest scenes in the movie was where R2 gave that droid a shock and he lept back like a little gurl and screamed! Hehe...yes R2 rocks in this one. C3PO played a minor role but...wimp!! :D

This chick :2thumbsupWent and saw it 2nite and really enjoyed myself. One of those flicks that holds your attention for the entire 120 minutes...wasn't long-winded either. Other than the obvious excellence in special effects and great directing/acting, etc, I greatly appreciated how they blended this episode in with the original story, very well done!

Best scene IMHO was the starship battle scene near the beginning and eventual crash landing of the front half of the spaceship to the planet! "Typical days landing".

I'm a fairly harsh critic on movies so for me to give "Attack of the Sith" a 10/10 is something quite rare! 10/10 :niceone:

You thought it sucked?
I liked it.
Where did you hear/read that DA hated his fans?
It seems that you are inferring he tried to annoy his fans by writing something with a different storyline to the Hitchhiker books?

I prefer to think he took some of the good ideas from the books and combined them into a new storyline that was more suitable for being made into a 2 hour movie. I reckon he did a good job of it.

Yes I 've met him. I've posted about his attitude before.

He doesn't like his "fans" and it would be in keeping with a great deal of the press he has released and with comments that he made that yes he would deliberately go out of his way to piss people off.

The main reason I think HHGTTG sucked was because there was VERY little effort to make it bear anything like a relationship to the plot of the 3 core books.

As for THGTTG, I thought it was exceptionally funny, however, it appeared that I was the only one in the audience laughing. This could be partly to blame for the fact I saw it in Gisborne, and most people just do not get the humour of it. Of all the people I asked, nobody noticed where the 'old' Marvin made an appearance in a nod to the original. I thought it was a little light on story, but heavy on laughs.

People who haven’t seen it already, I hope I don’t give too much away here. In fact, best you don’t read on…

Saw it last night at the Embassy - still don't know what to think of it so I guess I didn't think it was very good, although it wasn’t a BAD movie.

In the first half hour I thought that they were trying to fit a whole lot of story-line into this movie - too much I thought. Story was all over the 'show' and hence I never really got engrossed.

I did like how they entwined the story into the beginnings of the original, episode IV. Bringing Princess Leia's Tantive IV starship in at the end was cool (seen in the first scene of episode IV). Darth Vader being reborn was funny, obviously no anesthetic/valium around then!?

Thought the lava fight went ON a bit and quite… blasé, especially when you compare the saber duals in the older films which didn’t rely too heavily on special affects and jumping round like circus acrobats.

Think I’ll definitely have to watch it again though – might be even better the second time around?

Today I’m asking myself… how did ole-ben defeat Anakin, when Anakin kicked Count Duku’s butt. Bearing in mind too, that obi-1 stated earlier in the film that Anakin was a far better Jedi than himself and that he’d taught him everything he knew; obviously not the back flip-cut of your legs scenario me thinks., kept that one to himself, aye!

First thing I'll do on winning the lottery (after buying a big bike) is remake Episode 1. I'll call it 'Episode 1: Fuck you, Lucas'

Yup Mace Windu it was.

It's a little obscure but Lucasfilm made two cartoons covering the Clone wars. They start just after the Geneosis fight (ep2) and finish with General Grevious flying away with static dude in tow.

I stumbled across it a couple of weeks ago on the cartoon network. The shows total just over 2 hours. They aren't kids cartoons as such (kid safe though) but probably a very cost/time effective way to get a story out fast.

I can burn them to DVD if anyone is really interested.

I think I saw some download links so maybe you can get them directly from there.

The files would be quite large. They are about 4.8Gb when I recorded them (onto a HDD recorder) so I'd have to shrink them a lot for download. Not sure where I'd put them to make them available either. Even at say 200Mb that's a lot of downloading. A friend has some MV Agusta on board videos I host on my domain and he has in the past had 40Gb (my limit) of downloads in under 10 days !

So easier for me to burn it to a DVD. I'll still need to bump it down a little but the HDD/DVD player will do that for me.

I think a lot of george lucus stuff sux bigtime - especially the more recent stuff.

What gets me most is his cheap habbit of bluring the background in order to reduce the special effects production costs. At least with sets you could see plenty of detail - with this modern stuff most of the screen is blurry.
