The loop track is the wires, it is where you turn off to the left where the gate is. The Gutbuster starts at the very end of the loop track just before the rest area at the end of the wires.

When you turn on to gutbuster after the rest area, we came to a fork and went down for a while. It got pretty hard and there wasn't much sign of bike marks/tracks. We turned round and took the right hand of the fork which went up the big rocky hill which I though was gut buster???

Nah its different according to the doc maps.

Nah its different according to the doc maps.
I think the doc fact sheet/Map is a little confusing. When you are most of the way up the wires and you take the left where there is a gate you do the loop track or if you dont take the gate and go straight ahead you arrive at the rest area. The loop track has the big log retaining wall drop off by the stream and the steep rock wall you drop down. If you leave the rest area, crossing the stream you are heading directly back to the carpark so you have to 'loop' around somewhere!

What can I say, "Wires" it's an awesome track and I have ridden it half a dozen times over the last 2 years. Nine of us went over there on our Quad bikes last Sun (5th June 2011), currently closed to FWD's as they will damage the track to much in this wet weather. The loop track is "extreme" we should have never attempted it with such a big group, it took us 9 and a half hrs to get all 9 bikes through, 4 hrs of that was in the dark (not recommended) winching and towing almost the whole way, Fun but very hard yakka and a bit of damage to bikes. Yes the honesty box is still there ($5 per person or $10 per FWD) please do the right thing and use it as it is cheap enough for all and we don't need someone to spoil it for the rest of us! If anyone would like to know more ask away and I'll try and answer any questions if possible.
Cheers Bundy.

Ummm.... Dafs bike is a H0NDA CRF 250 with a CHRISTINI AWD system.
and yes, Im sure that your bike is better than a chinese copy, although as you know, a CRF 230 will never be a CRF250 no matter where its made. They are totally different bikes.

I need to buy a bike just for this. I went with Dafydd about a year or 2 back but the CRF450 wasn't cut out for the job. It boiled 3 times and wouldn't start at the top of a hill. (Altitude may be the problem there) There is some cool places in there ive never been so stuck. CRF450 limter drop clutch stall umm stuck much.
Need to buy me a CRF250 with electric start and build it just for the wires.

This caught me out it looked pretty hard went of a drop into it umm not so hard. I bet you bike had the carby lines all full of shit. Ive lernt that if your bike runs like shit after a bog or stops and wont go 90% of the time its carby lines. You can buy a kit that moves half of them into the air box.
Wires only closes to 4wd in winter im pretty sure
