Weekend 1

http://3.ly/hKD1

any suggestions are welcome.

Looking for the following now

a. Rear hugger
b. Tail fender
c. Pazzo Levers
d. New set of wheels?
e. Indicator options

Weekend 2

This is a new video of some of the mods along with my friends Kawa ZX10..

All DIY project... saved a bit of a cash... they are not Machine Perfect finishes... but does the job

http://3.ly/nJcg (Link to my blog with a youtube video .... oh ya turn up the volume

This weekend we put replaced the bolts on the windscreen with SPIKES ( 25NZ$ for 8 and red Wheel Stripes ( 20 NZ$) will post the pics soon.

Hacksawed the tail fender and screwed the license plate a bit further up.

Now looking around for those Pazzo's and ofcourse saving some cash for it as well..

Cool, but are you sure you want to save your cash to mod your 250? Don't you want all the cash you can get when the time comes to buy a bigger bike?

Although Mines a race one, but mods you are putting on it are just for looks.....what good is a bike thats looks shit hot, but cant handle high speed?, Put these items on it they make the bike safer and nicer to ride.

*EK chain {gain horse power}
*EBC brake pads {better braking}
*decent tires {pirelli super corsa's the best,as tested on the track}
*Renthal hand grips {supprisingly helps alot}

Looking good mate.

True but a couple of twenties, some phone call costs aint gonna help me get to that dream of bigger bike in the near future. Got this brand new 3 years back and didnt get to doing all this until now. Its just to make these already looking good machine look a bit more nicer on the streets which is my only use now... pure commuter ... in and arnd Welly.

I am not a new rider ... been riding for almost 6 - 7 years...but this is my first bike in NZ and what I could afford at that stage...

Looking good mate.

Mate would love to talk to you more... as I said this was just a bunch of guys under a shed with some tools talking of extra weight and unwanted stuff... we literally spray painted the windscreen... not perfect but does the job for 12.75 $ instead of 168 $ + shipping.

My next aim is Air Filter(BMC) + Front Sproket (13) + Brake Lines + Pads just to give it that lil bit of low gear edge but help me stop when some bloddy cager decides to get up close and personal with me all of a sudden :shit:

Are you reading the same thread as me? It's a 250 Hyosung

Mate you will be suprised ... a bit of mods as I mentioned above... some good air filter, sprokets, nice brakes , WhEELS, could make a hell of a lot of difference... these are now raced quite a lot in the states...

I say good on ya,your money do what you want with it.Refreshing to actually see someone doing something with a bike in a country where extensive modding means in many cases buying the latest "does this make me look like Rossi helmet".

Lol thanks for that.... yep both myself and Nick may not be PURE KIWI's or maybe Nick is more Kiwi than me... but just keeping the KIWI DIY bug alive....

Good to see your mate has extra crash bungs to protect all his stickers in the likely event of a crash.

p.s. "burn rubber not your soul" zomg rofl lolliez

Oh ya Nick is all for that... I think he is also on Kiwibiker but not sure of his nickname... next time he is around will ask him to post about his Mods... I cant keep up... he's also got a freakingly scary pimped up 4 wheel as well...

ya took that line straight out of the movie.... sorry Mom and teacher always complained that creativity wasnt my cup of tea

That jono charcter is mocking hyosungs.....and he has a FXR150....they are one of the worst assembled and build motorbikes to be made from a japanese manufacturer. Hyosungs may of been poorly in 2004,2005 when they first came out, but now in my opinion they are just as good as the japanese brands, Especialy the gtr250.

Clearly you're an expert because you race a 250.
Do you want a medal?

Read my last post: I have nothing against Hyosungs.
You're an idiot, there have been zero problems with FXRs. Show me a more then one when where build quality is an issue. This is about 250s not Hyos get over yourself.

You have been riding a 250 for 3 years? A least you have the patience of a saint. If 250 is all you want, then knock yourself out modding the thing. Just don't expect to make it much faster than it already is. Also be aware that a mint factory standard bike will usually bring at least as much, sometimes more, than a bike that has been modded when the time comes to sell it.

Wow,
Great advise there DB.

Woody,
Sometimes I get the impression you were a Pitbull Terrier in a previous life.

I have nothing against PBT's myself... Just that you remind me of one at times ;)
That isn't a bad thing, just an observation.

Anyhow,
Good on neop26 for doing something a little different to his bike.

well my story is slightly more than riding 250's for 3 years...

I had a major accident on my 21st bday nothing stupid on my part other than not wearing a helmet... broke both my legs, lots of injuries to the face , friend sit behind me had similar injuries as well... we were hit by a taxi in a junction head on .... took me 4 months on a wheel chair, lost 1 semester off Uni and learning how to walk again.... took me almost 2 years to even sit as a pillion ... i guess it took me a while after seeing 2 headlights head ur way at 10:30 in the night....

but the biggest blow was loosing my best friend who actually taught me how to ride well in an accident .... that took me off bikes and had that fear in me for a while.... lost my Kawa 750 in my accident....

coming to new zealand had to start building life... career and stuff like that... at the age of 26 you cant afford to change bikes , full time work and go to Uni and also maintain a GF :) at the same time...

this time I want to do it right... i want to mature more... I love riding and I think I ride quite well.. ofcourse I see sometimes how the lack of power when I ride... but its more of a mental maturity that I am trying to achieve out of this bike.... and chicks dig the bike LOL

this is my first bike that i bought with my own money so would be slightly painful to see her go... so going to keep her... and God Willing keep her in one sexy piece...

I need more braking and speed that comes stock and that my next ambition... I will return to the tracks one day I know .... but right now... i love pissing some cagers and boy racers around the Wellington Streets

My dad has an Harley Sporty 883c in AKL so I do enjoy that baby once in a while... was in AKL last week for 3 days so .... I am not one bike kinda guy... I do it for the love to ride and live to ride.... its my first love ..... whether its a 50cc scooter or 1000cc kawa .... u ride something on 2 wheels and with a motor attached to it... MOST ppl in the world cant bicycle properly...

So to the rest of you guys go on at each other... cut it out folks.... i mean whats the whole point at the end of the day u type some crap ..... enjoy the ride... whatever the f*** u ride... or however u ride it... be safe and stay safe...

neop26 out!!!

Made with quite dry pants and socks :) Interview was nt too bad either...

But then I decided to pay a quick visit to TSS since they had sent a letter saying that there might be a recall on some batch of bikes for their calipers ....

Reached and they checked that it wasnt mine.. so I told him if they could have a quick looksie at the front brake.... he fiddled with the nob and said na its all cool... so I got onto the bike to ride back to work and the bike wouldnt move at all...

I was like what the hell now... checked all the basics and we found that that during that 1.5 minutes of fiddling my right side front disc caliper seized and wouldnt bulge...

He said leave it and it will be around 400 odd bucks... I was like farrrrrrrk...

So after 85 bucks and piggy riding on the truck got the bike home... and will have to get one of ma mates to have a look at it....

So ya I am having the day hand delievered from hell today!!!

If he's fiddled with it then it wouldn't move I'd have them look at it... I had a service done on my old hyosung and afterwards the throttle jammed on so I had them look at it, they tried to charge me for it until they figured out they'd caused it.... But that's a real shame that they calipers seized. My Hyosung had the same problem, it was like $80 to fix cos they replaced the caliper pistons.

(P.S if they tell you you can't buy pistons individually and have to buy the whole caliper set up, go tell them to suck eggs, cos I almost got duped by that too.)

Fuck That! :nono:

And thats the reason I DONT go to 'Bike Shops'. I went Online and found a manual and do, and have done for years, work on my own Vehicles. Brake Calipers are simple enough to Remove and clean up, eazy enough to Bleed up again afterwards.

If you have a mate who can look at it 'with you' and let you learn about the mechanical things along the way, Do it Bro... Save heaps of $$$ and gain Knowledge

Mate it was more of a wear and tear issue... the calipers had rusted on the insides and bit of dirt ...

Had one of my good friends... he is almost 60 and one of those old skool racers....

First of all gave me an earful for not calling him for help... then he gets his tools out and we both with a bunch of LnP's , some sandpaper, brake fluid and WD fixed the brakes up... also tuned the gearing and chains while we were at it...

Total time = 35 minutes
Money = Fuck nothing.... no money between mates...

Learn= heaps... think outside the square and ol skool ol ways helps... problem with my age and generation we think everything across the counter is the best way ....

Bottom line .... got mobile once again ....the brakes are not the best at this stage but they do they job and its not just sitting there....

THanks for the good comments mate...

Guys,

I am an administrator on 2 forums (IT) and if I see guys like you who are both frustrated in life (usually sexually and cant make use of their two god given hands atleast to fucking fix their life)
I would seriously have your fucking banned for life and your IP blocked so that you dont try to walk in with nicks like short_dick and shorter_dick...

So here is my 2 cents for you guys.... grow the fuck up!

This is a forum for Bikers... whether you ride a fucking Mumbo jumbo this or that... this is a place for people who love their bikes and that the love of riding one.... not to come in here and show your passion for sucking each other ( fuck I love it that I can talk to you guys like this )

So for fuck sake if you feel so much shitty that I ride a Hyo then why in the heavely world do you bother to post on this thread... go google what ur urge is and go fucking sort the shit out guys...

To the others who are posting comments and suggestions... pardon my french guys..... and thanks for all the comments keep em coming...

neop26 out!!:Punk:

Pretty sure we weren't ripping on you man.

I have nothing against the Hyo. But it just isn't as good as a VFR. The only thing the GT250R is better at is being more Korean than the VFR, but then the VFR is more Japanese than the GT so I guess that kind of even things out.

And I was serious when I asked you how much you were planning to spend on wheels. Because for the amount of difference they'll make to a GT250 you could do a whole lot more for the money.

Also overreaction much.

If you read my posts you will see I have never said I dislike hyos. The only posts after the first two I have made have been in reply to Hyo owners who think looking at a Hyo wrong is akin to genocide suffering from "short dick can't read itus".

All I am saying is that it's only a 250 (especially a newer hyo/ninja). Any power gains you get will be minor and very costly.

If you want a faster bike get one, otherwise if you're happy with what you have go clap your hands.

I personally agree with this. I dont understand the modding out a 250 but hey, if you want to go ahead.

I have a hyo and am happy with it, I will be keeping it as a commuter when I upgrade due to how cheap it is on gas.

Just replaced my wheels front and back with Perilli sport demons and couldn't be happier ($350 all up + Fitting)
I can not see the sense in doing the muffler except to make noise. I would rather fix the shoddy front suspension.

And what is with all the stickers over the bikes???? it makes your bike look like more of a scrapbook than a bike...

I can not see the sense in doing the muffler except to make noise.Have a listen to one and you will see. Ride it and you will persuaded. The hyosung vtwin out of all the 250's in particular, sound just brilliant with a loud pipe on. All bikes are more fun with a loud pipe, but the hyo has a mean snap and snarl to it.

So my statement still stands.

Only do the muffler to make noise. $400 or so to make a sound? still can not see the sense...

Luckily the Hyobag I grabbed already had the zorst attached, I just worked on getting the nice induction noise it makes now. (~$100 for the filter, $14 for the jets and a bit of time with my dremel)

Sheesh. You young people just don't pay any attention. YOU NEED TO RAISE THE TANK 5mm, and then fill the headlight hole with bog.

Agreed! I am going to remove that post since .... it is not what I meant to say... bad sportmanship from me mate...

As I said before... i would love to get a faster bike but not right now... not ready for that mentally and financially :)

I am not looking at spending thousands and thousands on the hyo... just a bit here and there... nothing major....

I got the tyres done at TSS Red Baron in Alicetown/Lower Hutt

Perilli Sport Demon
Front was $142.90
Rear was $204.90

Fitting was $45 each end or $30 if you just take in the wheels.
So it was $437.80 Total

haha I had a hyosung before it got stolen, and I reckon theyre awesome bikes. EDIT: If I get another 250 for whatever reason it'll be another hyosung.

That post was a joke from a certain "special" member who reckond he gained a shitload of HP by doing no mods to the engine.

look up meowmix on the forums, he put pod filters and jetted his 250 comet, creates a mean induction sound and actually gives it a noticeable bit of pep.

Ah ok so you meant tires, not wheels wheels. I thought you were talking along the lines of Marchesini light weight wheels, as for sale here:
http://www.motorcycletoystore.com/sport/shop.php/motorcycle-wheels/marchesini-wheels/c_309.html

Which of course are just a tad on the expensive side compared to new tires.

As Eyegasm just posted go Pirelli Sport Demons, they are spectacular. Or Dunlop GPR100s, they are a great tire as well. Another option is a GPR-A10 but unless you're at the track every week then really don't bother.

If I were you they'd take priority over a new exhaust or anything else... a new can is less satisfying when it has scrapes all over it lol.

Good on you.

I know Meowmix from the korider forums, he did the splatterguard for his pod filters with a tin can aparently which gave me the idea for the airbox mod I did.

On a side note, His bike does give the hornet a run for it's money. (But mines still faster :P)

Show me a more then one when where build quality is an issue.
Errr every nut and bolt on one is an issue. Great bikes - but the FXR, RGV and RG 150's all had the worst metal in their construction.
But really you can not expect alot for sub $4K bikes BRAND NEW really. And what they lacked in build quality the definitely made up in technology and performance.
Great bikes.

Mate I just drooled looking at those wheels...

Forgive me ... back home we called tires = wheels and wheels = alloys have given two wacks to my head for the confusion....

Pirelli's looks like an affordable option... i did read something over at korider... will post back i think they were http://www.ragingparts.com/Michelin-Pilot-Power-Front-Tire-for-Hyosung-GT650-p/700-0045.htm but they show that they are for the 650's wonder if it would fit the 250's

first thing i did was take off the stickers. i wasnt embarrassed that is was a 250, i just thought it looked nicer plain. then i changed the indicators to smaller slightly tinted ones. then i made a tail tidy. i also made a blanking plate to go around the tail light. a lot of people make tail tidies but leave a big gap around the tail light. i think this looks unfinished. if you do this i still have the pattern i made for it. you just need to copy around it on some aluminum (sp?) and cut it out / file it and paint it black. the only other thing i did was put Perilli Sport Demons on it and an exhaust. the exhaust might only make it louder but they sound fantastic. money well spent. mind you i see biking as a hobby not an investment and expect it to cost money.
i never had any problems with mine but i am very anal when it comes to servicing and looking after bikes.
they are great little bikes and i enjoyed every ride i had on mine.

Yeah I have that now, I was going throught the Akatarawas on Friday late arvo, looked clear from the Waikanie side but there was rain at the summit. Must have hit Oil or something in a 3rd gear corner and WHAM... I was flying through the air wondering where my bike was. Several seconds of gymnastics later and I find my bike on its side minus indicator, brake lever, wing mirror and foot rest assembly... all strewn across the road. Get the bike on its stand and OH NO! scrached my shiney new muffler.
Out go the Shitkos and hello new tyres.... Those Pirelli's look tempting for that price aye.
Any one want some 3 Month old Shinko's?

Wow,
Great advise there DB.

Woody,
Sometimes I get the impression you were a Pitbull Terrier in a previous life.

I have nothing against PBT's myself... Just that you remind me of one at times ;)
That isn't a bad thing, just an observation.

Anyhow,
Good on neop26 for doing something a little different to his bike.
Who cares what it is.. It is HIS, and he is allowed to do whet ever he likes.

Carry on guys.

ahaha, well you keyboard heroes need to ACTAULY get off your computors once and awhile, try ACTAULY going to the track then proving yourself, the ultimate test for a bike is the race track.....that is the reason for hyosung getting into the racing scene, to establish themselfs as equal to suzuki, yamaha ect.......and they are, on my GTR250 i set the lap record last weekend.....beating the previous record from a kawasaki,

In the Gatage we have late model japanese bikes {honda suzuki kawasaki} and they nothingnover a Hyosung, so stop your bitching about them. Thats all from me, not trying to be a pitbull but im abit more expirienced on this issue.

It's better than the NC30 at a lot of things.

Eg:

Better than the NC30 at being Korean
Better at being red
Better at being slower
Better at snapping clutch cables

etc etc etc

Ummm,
Are you feeling okay?

I think your fingers are typing cheques your body can't cash there woody.....

To make it fair, I will put out a bunch of tyres around the tarmac in the shape of a track nobody has seen before...
Then we jump on a bike neither of us has ridden... and see who is faster straight off the line....

No need for me to prove anything really..... Considering I am over twice your age, and was racing before you were a twinkle in your dads eye.
Motorcycle racing is 20% bike and 80% Rider......

Oh.. I will still say "hi" next time i have to pick your bike up off the side of the track ;)
