Fashion helmet? Are they NZ compliant? Can you sell them legally if they are not?

I don't think the guys who wear helmets like some of those worry overmuch about legalities.
What do you think the SHARP ratings for those hats are? :devil2:

they seemed pretty popular in Japan. I had no idea there was legal or illegal helmets.? Im sure the ratings would not be as good either. Especially those German & US hats. Im bringing some of this in because I see quite a number of bikers with these sort of helmet around already on the road? will be sure to let the buyer know of these facts. Thanks for the tips. =)
let me know if any of you wants them =)

Put me down for a #3 if you can get a fucking huge spike on the top. Oh, and if it's already covered with swasticas that'd save me a fair amount of time. Let me know!!!!!!

A japanese chap wearing a #3 NAZI helmet would be entertaining to see...
Would it come with a swastika or a rising sun?

You see stuff like this all over Japan. Bike drink holders are especially popular, and of course you can't drink with a full face on. And look cool.

It takes skill to drink with a full face helmet one but it can be done - not a good look though.
Seriously, does anyone wear those helmets? The little half ones? (beside Aussie gang members)

No offence to Dodo but the lack of protection scares me

They look like they're the kind that will be illegal to sell as a Safety device here.
When they dont meet the DOT or Snell standards (they cant just say they meet the standards, they have to be stickered - which isn't supposed to be removed) they cannot legally be sold as a helmet here, but they can be listed as a novelty item.
I'm just trying to track down the source of this information.
Here's a start: http://www.nzta.govt.nz/resources/roadcode/motorcycle-road-code/you-and-your-motorcycle/wearing-the-right-gear.html
Notice that the DOT standard only applies to helmets that have been manufactured and purchased in the USA.

Being sold in Japan I would think they would be OK, but look for a label stuck or sewn into the Helmet with DOT or ECE or some other well known standard on it.
Note that it is illegal to sell a helmet in NZ that doesn't meet the NZ legal requirements - so you would be the one breaking the law in the first case. It doesn't matter weather you warn the buyer or not.
And watch out for any duty and GST as you bring them back into the country ...

they were all advertised as motorcycle helmets in Japan. I will check for DOT/ Snell / ECE standards. If they dont have it, ill be sure not to sell them. Thanks for your your advices guys!

My advice to you is that your helmets will cause somebody's death or injury because of poor protection. Then again, anybody that buys those is probably at the shallow end of the gene pool already...

Baseball is Japanese's top sport so.....
We should wear rugby head gloves as a helmet.
