Slow down!
You came past me at a ridiculous rate this morning. I was just about to pull out and filter myself when you came shooting past. I had to pull it hard back into the left and nearly ran into the back of the truck I was about to filter past. You most probably didn't even realise that this had happened you were going so fast.
Seriously dude, if you want to filter that fast and put yourself in harms way then that is your choice.
But, when filtering past bikes be aware that they might filter as well, always slow down enough to check that they have seen you.
If I hadn't pulled back to the left then we would have both been down on the road sliding about between all the traffic.

Just adding this helpful and important also gem:
3. Indicate your intention to pull out...again...BEFORE pulling out

Funck you very much posters.
Typical repsonse - why should I expect anything different.
Yes I was annoyed and still am. Anyone filtering at around 70kph in slow traffic is seriously being an idiot. Maybe their godlike skills will mean that they don't come to any harm - but I don't have those god like skills and I nearly binned it.
So before all the "waaaa waaa waa" crap starts, think on - might be you next time just going about your business when suddenly someone scares the crap out of you.

You were about to filter at a slower speed, but still would have scared some motorists.
What's the magic number where it's ok?

If you want to filter with a speed differential of more than 20km in moving traffic, make sure your insurance is paid up and your nearest and dearest know where to put your remains.

Typical repsonse - why should I expect anything different. You shouldn't. You were in the wrong, nearly fucked yourself, and nearly fucked the guy you pulled out in front of. Laxi and Number One are on the money.
Nobody scared the crap out of you, you scared the crap out of yourself.

There you go - dont moan - simply work on getting Godlike skillz - like the rest of us.
So before all the "waaaa waaa waa" crap starts
May pay to re-read your first post in this thread.

Im with the others - you pulled out without making the road was clear - you are in the fault in this case - regardless of the speed they were going.

Im quite new to riding, but this holds water, even when im riding with traffic, Im constantly checking my right side mirror, thinking there may be a bike come up fast, filtering. And I always check hard out before overtaking myself, although being on a 250 Ive only overtaken a couple of cars.

It could be seen from the other side of the coin...
To the rider who almost pulled out in from of me while I was filtering through the Gorge. Learn to shoulder check if you insist on riding on the Motorway. You will live longer and not have to change undies so often.

Slow down!........... always slow down enough to check that they have seen you............
how slow did you want me to slow down to? i saw sombody wobbling around behind a truck so i slowed right down, any slower and i would have been going backwards.
p.s. i have a functioning rear view mirror if you wish to purchase one?

Helpful hint of the day no.1.
if you buy undies that are already brown coloured, you dont have to wash them so much.

It's not really responsible splitting at that speed.

If a vehicle is lane splitting and going much faster than the rest of the the traffic it is possible to check behind you and not be able to see the vehicle lane splitting as it's covering ground much faster.
I would suggest keeping the speed down while lane splitting, keeping an eye on whats behind if you're going to pull out, and keeping as much distance in front of you as possible.
Of course someone will dive into that gap at times.
