Cleaning leathers

I have just got myself a bike to race in the streetstock class,and have also inherited some used racing leathers they have done two years ,so will be a little sweaty does anyone know who cleans leathers?

Hi, I raced Speedway bikes for a long time so feel qualified to answer this for you. To get the sweat out you will really need to wash them with a light detergent such as dish wash liquid. Use a semi harsh brush to remove any dirt from seams etc. Its okay to wet the leather as long as once dry you apply a beeseal wax to them which will replace the oil that has been washed out { not Dubbin this will eventually rot the stitch }. Leather is a '' living fabric '' which needs oiling every two months if you wash regularly. If just for road use every three is okay. The liner can also just be washed the same way with detergent. DO NOT USE SOAP POWDER SUCH AS PERSIL, DRIVE ETC as this strips the leather of it's vital oil and will leave residue on your suit once dry. Whatever you do don't use any polish like Mother's or something on the bum. I did once and got sick of the crushed nuts effect as you brake.

damp rag and a nail brush to clean the o/s.
Turn them inside out, spray them with vodka and leave them in the sun. This will clean the lining.

No shit, I use it on costumes that cant be washed, and they get just as sweaty as riding gear.

Then you will have to re-seal the leather with some sort of treatment.
