I've been trying to do some research to find tyres to use on an fzr400 with an 18'' rear that i plan to race, and it appears there is not a great variety. i have so far found that dunlop and bridgestone have tyres in the right size but finding someone who sells them is the next problem so Does anyone know of anyone who races a fzr that could help me find tyres?

Hey, I am pretty sure that Malcolm's VFR (NC21) has an 18" rear.... when he raced it at Wanga's this year he found a few options. I'll get him to get on KB and let you know when he gtes home...

Definetely, they are pretty sticky too! ZXR250's run 18's on the rear, although a little bit smaller than what your fzr400 would.

Hey Ryan,
Pirelli Sport Demons are what I have usually gone for when it comes to 18's. But I have found they are often not avaliable in sizes for the front. So on the front I have often used Avons, they have a good range designed for classic racing, or just done my homework as most brands have a "Sporty" range avaliable in the oddball sizes. IE: You can get "Pilot Sport" in all the usual sizes, but if you ask a dealer you will find that there is a "Pilot Sporty" range for the weird stuff. Hope this hel;ps

GPRa10 is an awesome tyre . Sticky in the dry and not too shabby in the wet either.

As for who sells them , any Dunlop dealer will get them in for you even if they dont stock them. My team raced on them for the last 3 years and we got a few cups in the locker .

AHHH! got a quote for gpra10's today. Almost $600 for the pair. sound like i might be able to get them from over seas for a lot less but is this the sort of price i should have been expecting from in NZ?

thats about what i paid for mine.

question i have - i use gpra10s on my tzr250 track bike. thinking of running slicks next year.
would there be much benefit of slicks over the gpra10s? i know that the a10's are quite sticky already, just wondering if slicks would be much better?

im guessing 18" rear slicks are a pain in the arse to find? so i would probably need to get a 17" rear rim?

Welcome to racing motorcycles out of the streetstock class mate.
Tyres are a constant and painful source of woe.

Yea now i see. makes streetstock racing seem like good value for money really, still, i cant stay racing them for ever. I might have to ride really slow so i dont wear them out. Haha, yea right!
