Otherwise if you've got nothing useful to say why dont you just shut up....

You've got a big mouth on you, haven't you.

I find it lolable when pissy little fucks think they can win an internet argument by telling someone else to "shut up".

to be honest i dont give rats ass if its 35 or 40 or whatever...as its likely going to change again to suit some retarded "road safety" policy/revenue gathering.

Otherwise if you've got nothing useful to say why dont you just shut up....It's a no win situation, if you know your rights you fail the attitude test, but it's best to be able to taken actions to the nth of the law.

Travelling SH1 today i saw a 999 with a horrid sounding pipe doing a rather fast run (i estimate a good 180kmh) heading North at Manakau passing a truck well on my side of the double yellows . Plain coloured helmet , as already said , a really horrible sounding exhaust and then i saw why he was riding like he was , ..... a Highway Patrol car with lights and sirens hammering it to try and catch up. The bike had a Dealer yellow plate on and this dude was just a fool with what i saw. I hope he is not going to make a habit of riding the same strech of highway like he seems to be doing as im sure the Police will do whats needed to take this guy of the road.
Seriously folks , i like to ride fast but this guy was doing no favours to any of us and i applaude the Police in thier desire to see him stopped.

A ducati with a horrible sounding exhaust?? Didn't know there was such a thing..... Well it wasn't my 999 (and I have a plain helmet too). Best I stay off SH1 for a while just in case they are after any red 999... Have to ride to Hamilton on Thursday...might go SH2 instead now.

Actually i don't think that's correct. i got nailed at 150 last Feb and only got instant suspension for 28 days, had to push my bike home (yeah right, daughter trailered me home), 50 demerit points, and a $630 fine - I was on zero points so i was mobile again in 28 days. And a buddy of mine just got done for 155 last month (he's a member here but i won't mention his name), and he got 28 days suspension, had to push his bike home, a court appearance where he was fined about $800, and the demerits took him over the 100 so he automatically lost his licence for 3 months on top od the 28 days - but the beak didn't actually award him any additional suspension time.

Thanks nice to no I have just brought a bike after long time not riding and last thursday went for a ride up to wakworth and back and once I got throught tunnel could'nt resist urge to give it a little and got caught at 152k's only had bike for 4 days. mandatory 28 day suspension and court to come. No demerits until this, but any advice how to not lose licence would be awesome. Need it to go back and forth to take boy to starship. And to work

2001 kawasaki 750...ZR7? Why did you even bothered pulling over?....Unless its a 750 Vulcan in which case you had no other options :D

BTW if you have clean slate i think this should be only 50 points so you get to keep licence unless they add some "dangerous/reckless" driving charge (because 152 on big wide empty road is just a madness i tell you!!!!)

BUT dont take this as KB fact, maybe one of our almighty resident policemen will clarify this for us....(before the avalange of trolling appears)

Mu buddy was lucky and got a JP that was into bikes (acccording to the court solicitor). he also prepared a three page statement that explained that he wasn't a lunatic (very debatable), that he had had a good driving record and that most of the 36 offences in the past were minor speeding offences (that got a real laugh from the JP according to him), and that he needed mobility for his work and that if he were to lose his licence for more than the 3 months that the demerit points gave him, then his livelihood would be in real japourdy.

Good luck, maybe you'll just get the fine and the points!!

It takes about month for papers to arrive...and then its usualy scheduled for another month+ from the date, so in theory you have 2 months to come up with something...hopefuly its at least that long so you can look into getting provisional licence to get to work and kids from school etc. if they suspend you for 3 or 6 months (limited licence costs about $600 from lawyer but if you get documents yourself its only $150 lodging fee at the court) also you should be elegible since its not DUI offence and you didnt drive while disqulified

An autobahn road would be just the ticket to making new zealand roads safer. People just want to gun it now and again without having to gap it from the law. If the latter then I too know of stupid laws.

And I'd even buy my own bullets if everybody else decided they were indeed 'stupid' laws and repealed them..

I cannot speak for 90% of population so yes unfortunately its only the ones I think are stupid....

ALL Laws are inconvenient but some things are common sense and also happen to be a law, and yes i ignore the ones that are actualy stupid... and should not be laws at all!

Goverment creates these "laws" for their own benefit so how does petitioning them going to help anything?

Laws are created for the benefit and safety of the MAJORITY ... by the Goverment voted IN by the Majority.

Don't like those laws ... live someplace ELSE ...

Petioning Goverment raises attention to said laws ... and if enough support is gained ... a law CHANGE can be made, then again if NO support is given ... the petioner looks like a complete dick ...

Give it a whirl ... what have you got to lose ... ???

Selective reading i see, i said most things are common sense and also happen to be a law....but speeding on a motorway has nothing to do with murder and theft! Seriously, look at what i said....

And yes those laws you mention are still inconvenient for murderers and rapists so they are probably on their own KIWIRAPIST forum bithing about them as well.... iam here complaining about traffic related bullshit, so not sure why you mention those.

there was no mention in your post of your statement relating only to traffic laws AT ALL

Maybe those hideous photos/videos that SCU take of the dead and dying after a crash should be part of the punishment for those wankers with so little value for others or themselves or worse even the affect their own death will have on immediate family. Family's are affected for years and years, kids especially.
At the funeral mates will go sullen, look at the ground a lot, see the wife/kids destroyed by what's nothing more than weak selfishness, think about their own near misses and think about not wanting to do that to their own wives/kids etc...until the next ride or some time well into it, "oh fuck that was close must remember ___________ next time on that bit"...
Save it for a track, if that's not enough man up and go work(?) with http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Apiata for a month, at least they will be fucked up, off the bikers ACC account and the kids have a hero to look up to rather than a dip-shit with no self control.

No i dont think that law (law or rule..whatever) you gave as example is stupid at all!

I did not say ALL laws are stupid i said ALL laws are inconvenient for someone out there ....for me inconvenience is speeding law (because i know how to ride at ..shock horror 123km/h), and for people that like to smack their children its "anti-smacking law" for wife beater its "assault" law (i guess also anti-smacking)... those laws are not inconvenience to me tho because iam not planning on breaking them! You see and thats where police discretion should come into play....i know its not fair that we should be treated differently but it should be common sense that i can corner/brake better than some "people mover" made in 90's so maybe giving us(bikers) some slack in regards to speed would be nice..however i do have speeding ticket for 61Km/h and i think thats just retarded!

Mmmm, so are you suggesting that when Police stop any person for speeding they should then conduct a competency test on that persons driving to see if they are capable of driving at whatever speed they were traveling at?

Come on, get real...

"Good morning driver, I have checked your speed at 61 km/h, I am now going to conduct a competency test on your driving ability that will take 30 minutes, please wait here."

Or perhaps the police officer could just take the drivers word for it that they are a competent driver, yeah right!

As if, get real and start living in the real world.

think he was suggesting you guys apply discretion, ie a motorist doing 65k in a 50k zone just before the edge of town where there are clear verges and visibility for 8m either side of the road is probably safer than someone doing 50 net to a footpath full of people right?

Tend to agree. I, for instance, don't have any issues with the school zones, little buggers can leap out from anywhere. 50kph in those areas is too fast but 61 on the edge of town? So what? maybe a bit of finger-wagging might have the desired effect, a ticket will just creat animosity and this is where the problems arise. No fucking discretion! It's all about the quota, the money and to hell with everything else. No wonder we have such arseholes in the police, half-decent folk wouldn't want the job.

I had a cop use discretion.
He reckoned I was riding at 146kph in an 80kph zone. He didn't stop me as he used his discretion and decided "You weren't riding dangerously, you were just riding fast".(quote) Continued to use that discretion whilst following me for the next 39 kms. He decided to stop using it three weeks later after reading some of my KB posts. Came and saw me at 10.30pm and plucked my licence from me.
