View Full Version : Is a biker's agro inversely related to their bike's capacity?

I seem to be seeing a relationship where the most impotently agressive posts on this website come from people that own bikes of 250cc or less.

Jeez, I think you might be on to something there. A sort of misdirected Freudian penis envy perhaps? There certainly seems to be a high proportion of 250 riders with serious chips on their shoulders :msn-wink:

I think you have missed the bus there.
The more the aggro then the more shyte I give my bike. Makes no difference if I'm on a 50cc or a 1000cc. However I suspect that I'd kill the 50cc and the 1000cc would probably kill me... :whocares:

Darwin's law. All start on 250 or less. The aggressive ones kill themselves, or Mummy realises they're about to and buys them a car. The sensible ones garduate to big bikes.

However, having said that. There does seem to be something about smaller bikes egging one on. When I take the Whale out, I seem to automatically ride very defensively and politely ("After you , Sir"). And law abidingly.

But out on Li'l Rat Bike, something primevil seems to be aroused and I am definately more assertive (won't say aggressive). It's sort of like the Beammer says "Such plebian displays are beneath my august dignity. Let the rabble go by. We, the Herrenvolk know who is master". Whereas Li'l Rat Bike it's "Wheee this is fun. Cummom cummon, betcha I can go through that next corner 20 kph faster, Cummon betcha betcha, cummon guv, gives us a chance then."

Don't know why. The effect of the higher revs maybe. Could be , because a two smoker ALWAYS seems to cry out to be ridden harder and faster than a 4 stroke.

I vote penis envy.

I ride a Blackbird. My penis is now so large that I occasionally use it as a side stand for the bike.

Id agree with that ..when I ride thing such as BMw I am on old fart ..but put me on a race rep and suddenly I am rossis worst nightmare ...often thought about that I think it is the revs of the bike

Anyway The Missile is ready for tomorrow ...thats a 2 smoke ...and I hope for some big air ,,,,

Quite looking forward to it ,,,as I have the thing balanced quite well and the spring rates are close to what I need ..just a fiddling is what she needs before some serious spanking ....
oh happy days .....and all up its was very cheap ...( wife still here so thats a bonus,,,, :devil2: )

Thank you, I now have a mental picture.........

Can't seem to get rid of it.

Wont be able to keep a straight face whenever I see a Blackbird.

And I know quite a few.

Funny all the small bike riders round here all seem to be going fast every where . So either they are in a hurry to get some place or they have just finished watching WSB or GP

Tis because young people generally ride the 250s and young people can get a lot more angry/pissed off over small things than our elders :msn-wink:

Dunno about capacity and aggro. But I have found that my buoyancy is inversely proportional to the depth of the water I'm in...

It is all about the ride quality and the engine. Torque is relaxing, and HP is exciting. Maybe it is a noise thing. Also smaller bikes of the same type respond faster than bigger ones. Speed of turning, tight suspension are exciting, BMW long travel, soft, soak-up-every-bump suspension is not exciting....

I find that people with bigger bikes tend to be easily provoked and anrgy (hides under the keyboard).

And whenever people dont have their bikes/dont have bikes... of course they will be on here... talking bikes 24/7 tis the closest thing to riding them I suppose.

I don't think the bike has much to do with it. Any bike can be ridden by an aggro rider.

I don't think of my bike as big in terms of size. In terms of HP or CC then yes it is I suppose. But, I never get aggro with people, even on the forum here I don't think I've ever attacked someone directly. However, I am easily upset by the "small things", but that is with myself and not others.

Cheers.

I haven't got grumpier since going from a 900 to a 1200, but then at my level of general grumpiness small increments don't get noticed.

Well ,there were some interesting posts on this subject.
obviously there are some more mature riders who choose to ride 250's who are the exception, but my theory is that the young ones may be suffering an over supply of testosterone.I wonder if they are spotty too ?
My proclaimation is:Cut off their Goolies!! :devil2:

It's funny, since i've bought the 636 I've never ridden so carefully. I rode the 400 like no tomorrow, would come within a whisker of the governor 8 out of every 10 times I rode it. And that included the 1.2 kilometre trips to the gas station.

Okay, so in terms of outright speed I obliterate the 400s top speed on an almost daily basis, but I pick my moments a little more carefully, and I'm a lot less inclined to take the risks... Nothing to do with it being 4 x as expensive to purchase or fix!! The 636, while not a rocket in sportsbike terms, is still quicker than most things I come across on the road... and since I KNOW I'll win the drag most of the time, I think I subconsciously don't feel the need to prove it.

Besides - if you've got MORE than 250 cubic centimetres throbbing between your legs... you are the man, no arguments :msn-wink:

LOL! Very well stated. I used to drag everything and anything before my big ticket... alas now the crazy days are over.

So true that point though - now I think it that way 'I don't need to prove myself' etc. I have never lost a drag (I'm sure if some evo/turbo 4wd skyline/true rice/drag whatever etc came along I would though) and I think its best to keep that 100% record intact by not dragging again
