I can't remember how big stock were, but we went over this with Ivan, do a search. area = pi x D squared divided by 4
so for a 24mm carb 3.14 x (24 x 24)/4 = 452mm2
so if your carbs are bigger than 226mm2 each they are too big
ah heck, here it is on a plate.
16.97mm
think std was 18. Tony Mack made some thin little sleeves for his 26mm carb to take it to 24mm, you could do the same if you get serious about making more power legally.

Hello everyone
Because we (BMRC) have hired the track all day we are going to have a lot of racing, looks like it could be 7 rounds per class + the BOB main event + 50cc NZ GP. The 50's will not be run in a separate class throughout the day, they will only be raced separately for the 50cc NZ GP race.
Supported classes are:
F4/F5

Here is a rough idea on how we would like the day to go.

Approx 11:45 third round completed.
10min Break for BOB setup. Marshals can relocate if desired. Radio check all marshals and lap/time keepers in position.
Approx time 12:00, BOB 55mins + 1 lap
Approx time 13.00 BOB Complete!
Its time for a 30min lunch break. Marshalls in for lunch break.
Approx time 13:30, Marshals back to points, Radio check all marshals and lap/time keepers in position.
Approx time 13:35pm. Sprint race 4, 6lap sprint races:

Yep, Greymouth is a fun event, but an expensive exercise if you have just the one bike. BOB though gets you more track time than you know what to do with on one of the coolest bucket tracks in the country :)
We'll see. Trips away racing tend to be more about the trip away than the racing.

So I have been thinking about how I would do this cause I am pretty keen (and as per my previous post has some leave to use) and so far have got to this:
Leave Auckland Thursday 5 August and head for Wellington. Scab a bed for their.
10.45am Ferry crossing Friday 6 August getting into Picton 1.35pm and driving onto Christchurch (Google maps says it is about 4 and a half hours Picton to Chch, last time I was down this way was on the bike and we didnt go directly to Chch). Accommodation to be sorted.
BOB Saturday 7 August.
Now I need to ask, BEARs racing on Sunday 8 August, is it worth hanging around for it? Feed back I seem to be reading of the other site is that it may not be. Can some tell me how much racing we might get and what the costs may be?
Thoughts at the moment are that I wont and Sunday 9 August I will aim for the 2.25pm sailing from Picton, scabbing another bed for the evening and in Wellington.
Monday 10 August, Wellington to Auckland.
Any suggestions or comments welcomed, as well as anybody else that may be keen to share costs. At the very lest I will have the ute, so space for one more bike and person.

29th May 2010, 19:27
Bears should get 3 races plus practice. People are only grumbling because Cams can run a 1/2 day meet and get 5 races plus practice. If you are driving all this way you might as well enter the next day as well $40 entry

Hi Pumba
I'm also thinking about the Battle of the Buckets. Remember, I rode my bucket (FXR150) from Christchurch to Auckland, via the Napier-Taupo road in heavy sleet just before the big snow-in :). I want to try Ruapuna.

Going back down again with my bucket to race in Christchurch would be fun.

The boys from ESE have been thinking about making the trip Pumba. We were waiting to see the results with the new bikes. I feel it will be not to bad. A few months to get things fine tuned. Really like those long tracks the GP engines really go well .
Spoke with Keith Biddle a few weeks ago and he said he would be keen to go back with Avalon . He has a RS with a GP125 that she will run. Not my one this time.
Will see how we go. All things going well we maybe get there yet.
