Hey Guys (and girls?)
I have been trying to hunt myself down a bucket for about a month now, and am not having too much luck.
Mark from Scooterazzi has been trying to find something for me in japan, but it is all looking a bit expensive.
I am looking to spend up to about $2000, and am happy to either just get a rolling chassis/bike with no-worky engine, and put something in it, or to have something that is legal as is.
Any help on this would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Max

Well that's a reasonable budget, you should be able to get something really good and ready to race for that!!

I have a strange unwarranted aversion to the fxr haha.
But if nothing pops up that will be probably be what I end up getting.

Good man!! I like how you think! Repeat after me, "FXRs suck balls. FXRs suck balls."
So are you after a 2 stroke or 4?

I am looking for one with two wheels.
But but If I had to pick would prefer a two stoke, just because I only weigh 60kgs so keep the overall weight down would be nice. And also because I ride a two smoke around normally.
But I don't mind a four stroke. Whatever comes up is good.

I'll keep an eye and ear out for you and if I hear of anything I'll post in here, I'm sure the others will too. Our poor old 2 smokers seem to be a dying breed unfortunately, some may say it's because they're hard to find parts for and they keep trying to kill themselves, but I think those people are just afraid of the might of the 2 stroke and would rather ride souless bikes so they don't feel so bad when they crash them. Bit like gingas really......

I'm interested to know how many gingas you have crashed and what that entails ?!

I think right now I am leaning towards the FXR, for some strange reason.
I think it would probably be a nice bike to learn to race on, plenty of parts around etc, and if I get more serious I can take my time to find something perfect.
Also being reasonable handy with carbon fiber it would be fun to see how much weight I could get rid of. :D
So that is my thinking, at least for now. It will probably change within the next couple of hours.
Right now FXRs are probably the easiest way to get into buckets. Mainly due to availability. And with not too much work you quickly have a reasonably competitive bike.
Of course I'm biased since we have two FXR buckets in the garage.

Hmmmmmm.
Tempting.
How much is a battery worth?

about $50, if you are racing you probably remove it and the starter motor save 3 to 4 kg
here it is

Very Tempting indeed.
But I am almost keen to track one down in Welly just to save myself some hassle.
Not that I don't trust you; but because I am in two minds about the FXR in general, I would like to have a good look at what I am buying.

The CB125t sounds good. Mainly because it isn't an FXR. :bleh:
Who is selling it. That could be worth a look.

Actually what size are the wheels on the cb125t? Are they 18"? I would prefer a bike with 17" wheels to make it easy on myself.
What would a Kwaka KR-1 Rolling chassis be like?
There is one hanging around cheap.
