"Is it just that some guys feel inferior to women on bikes?
Is it that they feel they can't compete?
Or maybe it's just the fact that they don't know how to act around us!!. "

No, they're just backward dicks...ignore 'em

It's an interesting one - because I'm not sure if a lot more women on bikes would be a good thing (I like 'em - more would be good right?) or whether the novelty would be reduced and the attraction would drop with it.

Something to ponder. But in the meantime I'll enjoy the scenery

Was going to read through all of it but...

I for one don't care what they own/ride, or how flash it is or isn't. Its all about getting out there and having fun. MrsP doesn't know it yet, but I bought her a Triumph Thunderbird for her 40th but its not until March though. Real nice too, rode it from Wgn to "storage." (She has no idea she is getting it, so no PM's please...she looks at them for me sometimes!!!! but never looks at the threads).

She is going to have the flash bike and I am stuck on my 250...but I bet I can still keep up!!!

I also don't care if the chicks wanna ride with the blokes, the more the merrier.

Aint life grand...

i have no problems with chicks on bikes, my mrs rides a CR80 mx bike at the moment and she shreds some of the guys who ride with us offroad, she gets on the back of my zx9r and loves it, just have to find a nice looking 250 for her at some stage

I was just doing a stock take of girls on bigger bikes (as an arbitrary number I chose 600cc) on KB. There are heaps.

Here were the few I could come up with at short notice but I'm sure there are heaps more: Riff Raff, MV Senna, DucGirl, PinkHogGirl, me, Vixta, OkChk, Rashika, MsTriumph, Coco, Beemer, Oldenuf, DebK, LB, Ogri, Will...

There's a few more on 400s: Draco, Goddess of Goof, Stroker Girl...

And heaps on 250s...

My apologies if I have left anyone off.

Me....I had a 600 and now have just got a 750 :-)

Sooooo loving it (insert MD's jingle here). lol

I love chicks on bikes! there should be a recruiting drive specially to get more of them out there I say, my wife now rides her own bike and I know a couple of other chicks on bikse too. I used to know a lot more but they decided to have families and get all respectable 'n' stuff. Bugger..
So now Im trying to corrupt a whole new bunch of people onto bikes, so far Im up to 5 and still working on a couple more. I reckon chicks on bikes are the best thing possible.
Love to go riding with them whenever possible.

Just caught up on this thread again - gotta share - that recently I met a guy who was into Motorsports in a big way - Fords - and all that.

We got on really well initially, then I revealed that I owned a couple of bikes.... and I was asked for more information about it all...... so I got all enthusiastic, cos I thought I was talking with a guy who would appreciate anything with an engine that went faster and louder than it should !

But no. POOF !

He vanished faster than Rossi on a Racetrack.

So, yeah, What Is It About Guys Who Think Women Shouldn't Have Cool Bikes?

Believe me, the "anti" attitude is alive, and well, and kicking.

He had nothing to be insecure or jealous about - maybe he only loves 4-wheel toys, not two....?

:argh:

Yes, probably could do better. That's what all my school reports said, too! LOL
Know any Maserati dealers I could sweep off their feet?? :blip:

But to me - a car is just a car and some cars are better than others.... I don't know enough about the difference between say, Fords and Holdens - but I know there is a bitter rivalry between them.

I always enjoyed TOP GEAR on TV. Mainly cos they did cool things like explode caravans - and drop cars into quarries. A fitting fate....and a pity they didn't include the bluddy drivers as well......

It'd be difficult to name a car that I'd really like to buy - if I Won Lotto and could have whatever I wanted......there is a nice Porsche convertible I could fetch the groceries in....hmmmmmmm

Personally, I'd love to see a hell of a lot more women on bikes. I used to love riding around the countryside with my girlfriend, each of us on our own bike. I *really* miss that :scooter: :scooter:

Carrying pillions just doesn't cut it. They mess up the wieght distribution on the bike and don't appreciate it when the front end slides for 30m.

Yeah buddy i can relate to that.... I have always ridden my own bike and up until recently I used to have a bloke who also rode a Buell. Man! we had such a great time riding together..... I think it takes alotta skill to be a good pillion but all you ladies on the back should try riding yr own bike cos it ROCKS. AND its a HUGE turn-on riding with yr partner...... Its like foreplay !!

Had to renew belt after big az stonechip put a big hole in it. Thought I'd renew the front brakes until I saw my bank balance then had to put front wheel back on sans new brake pads. Nemind, just have to modify cruising speed until I have enough to get new pads.

and how did the stonechip get in? Just wondered as my bike is sans any belt guards (previous owner removed them for racing prep), and I wondered how important they are. I do wanta get some but just cant afford the funds at the mo.

I musta glided over metal roadworks at a 'leisurely' pace and the scoundrel musta flicked up. I was told the belt guards don't do much but I prefer them off anyway and makes back wheel removal a bit easier. I believe they don't do much as well. New belt? Around the $330 dollar mark depending where you get it from. Front brake pads you might be able to get for about $50.00... again shop around, cause one place gave me a price of $110- for the same thing. Go figure. I've got a front rotor disc on order from the USA for approx $268- landed. Same price from a shop here is about $350 bucks. Wow.

Wanganui Cemetery Circuit? I'd be in if I'm not working. Either case if I am I will try very hard to develop a severe case of the 'flu'.

I think theres nothing cooler than women on bikes and to all the other guys who cant handle, what are you afraid of? Theres a couple in my crew who are real top sorts. For some reason one gets her Hyosung looked at a lot from passers by when we park up, even with a few new gixers next to it. I have photographic proof. (Wellington, go figure)

I will be soo stoked to get my wife out on a bike next to me rather than behind me on the pillion seat. I don't even care If I have to slow down, or if she learns me. Woman should not be allowed on bikes..for the same reason they shouldn't be allowed control of the TV remote.

They ride too erraticly, every time they see a shop they slow down for a look.

How the hell can they do the dishes and make babies as well as ride?

I don't have a problem with them washing my bike though as long as it's done good enough.

One ego in a house is enough to stroke, can't handle two.

They don't have the mental ability to think about more than one thing at a time.

No reverse on a bike so how are they gonna back into anything?

Why is it that it's OK for guys to have nice bikes - but not us girls

Well it's not an argument starter (hopefully). I just want to know why is it that some guys just can't get it in their thick skulls that girls/women like to have nice things also.
I have a 1994 Kawasaki ZX9R and I'm proud of that. I get comments like "Oh aren't you spoilt having your mum & dad buy that for you" and "whats a good looking girl like you doing with a big bike like that!". It's so stupid. I must admit that in the last few months it has got better or maybe I'm just ignoring them more.

Is it just that some guys feel inferior to women on bikes?
Is it that they feel they can't compete?
Or maybe it's just the fact that they don't know how to act around us!!.

My best friend (also my passenger on my race sidecar) is a guy who doesn't have a problem and its so nice to actually hear compliments about my bike for once.

I ride with an all girl group called Babes On Bikes - we don't have rules or anything like that - its a group of women riders that get together and have a great time on our bikes. I hear of guys saying "oh I wouldn't ride with a women - they ride too slow" but hey that's crap - half the time when us girls ride together we leave the boys behind.

I think it's time NZ really woke up to the idea that women are on the agenda for having just as nice things as the men. What do you think?? Do you agree? How can attitudes be changed? Every thought welcome - politeness is promised in replies.

:brick:I am lucky. I have found most of the guys I have meet really good about me have a nice motorbike. (year 2000 CBR) One guy even said he had known a few girls now who rode.. but not any as fast as me!

Meny Men/Males are intemerdated by Ladies/Females that can do the same (if not better) than them.
Size of bike can limit ones fun ie to small just a putt round to big loose licence.
Roads down here are not enjoyable for hard and fast riding.

You're from Gizzy right? Well I am not at all familiar with yr back roads but all the main highways I've travelled around that area have been VERY good for hard and fast riding! The first time I went thru the gorge from Opotiki to Gisborne I had only had my Buell for a week and was a little nervous ( and alot hungover ). Anyways these locals on HDs were giving it DEATH and so I told myself if those fullas can take the corners that fast on their bikes then SO CAN I! Had a blast! It was a great way to get comfy on the new bike... ps: done nearly 90,000kms on it now... ;-)

Well the main roads now are full of pot holes and unmarked gravel patches most on f n corners.
I'm a night owl rider and find them to be a pain in the ass.
there are some nice patches around that it can be opened up.
But its nothing like the roads around Auckland

Whats this I was the "quickest girl" talk. Stand up and be counted. Most guys like Gareth for example cant ride to save themselves lol.

You gals shouldn't feel like your 2nd class riders. I'm impressed with all the women I've seen riding. Once you gals have plenty of track time under your leathers a few will really be sticking it to fastest of the fast club.

And Gareth how can you pick that someone in a helmet with sunnies is 30 odd?

Sounds like theirs gonna be a North vs South challenge coming. Pick your handbags ladies and let the battle commence.

One more thing QC, you do know that any KBer on a Honda is slow aye. Its kinda like riding with one hand tied behind your back.

OMG just spent 3 hours reading this whole thread. Havnt laughed so much in a long time. Loved it so much i just had to finally register and make my first post. On the subject of girls on bikes, personally i agree with most of the previous posts. Its great to see, even hot, i mean chicks in leather! who could resist?
On the subject of how fast they ride, well im no slow poke and ive passed some fast bikes on the track, but im not ashamed to say that people like rossi girl would leave me eating dust on the track. Its really down to the individual person, ive seen guys that ride so slow cars over-take them!
And lastly i have to say that rude remarks aren`t just reserved for the ladies, ive had plenty of comments in my time on bikes. I think some guys feel threatened by people who ride bikes, come to think of it, ive even been threatened by a guy on a bike, just because i zinged past his harley on a two stroke doesnt really require being chased down just so he can show me how big his fist is. Fact is some people are jerks and best thing to do is ignore them and continue doing what you like to do.

I can't be the only one but I know a similar proportion of women who ride as don't as I do men who ride and don't.

That is to say the ratio is the same as you would expect based on the available data pool.
Don't worry I got a bit lost there too but suffice it to say women who ride are no longer as scarce as they once were.

My Ex, and my current partner are both excellent riders that can leave most men for dead, but that does not stop guys from offering "fatherly advice" all the time. Mostly we laugh about it later, because many of these helpful men offer bullshit advice, thinking that a female wont know the diff anyway.

One of the best aspects of female riders is that they do not suffer from "small cock syndrome" and select a bike on basis of suitability rather than "Wow factor"

yep I notice random advice coming my way ....... I do get annoyed but not because someone is advising me but that someone assumes I need advice .... I don't feel I have to prove anything to anyone least of all a well intentioned "EXPERT" ... but don't get me wrong I will never stop learning ...and perhaps some good may be gleaned from this wise counsel...
I chose a career in a man dominated industry a few years back, firstly NZ Army and then the MOT, you learn to take comments with a grain of salt...most of the time smart arse comments were made in jest.. if I got upset everytime a drunk called me a pigglet..I'd be a very unhappy girl indeed...

The time a labour department man came up to me at a service station in New Plymouth when I was filling up my patrol car back in the 80's and said to me very loudly infront of others ...if you have any issues with men making sexist comments etc within your department you just give me a call... I turned to him and said it will probably be the men calling you...(tongue firmly in cheek).... he made the humf noise and walked off to his car....:woohoo: twat... mind you I had just left the army

When someone tells you what you should or should not do because you are a woman and says nothing to the man standing beside you is bloody annoying.... Rightly or wrongly it's an assumption... and rightly or wrongly that can get annoying. (however I don't outwardly display the annoyance)

I have been back on a bike for 2 years after a 20 year break, I am just scratching the surface of how far I can push myself and my bike...

girlies on bikes = HOT!!

I have now taught 3 girls to ride (mates and umm *cough cough*) and have also given tips to a couple guys. Major difference is the girlies listen and because they might not have the muscle to throw a bike around they pick up better technique a lot faster instead of just trying to manhandel a bike into doing what they want.

I do reach a conundrum though and am not sure whether to check out the bike or the rider....lifes hard sometimes:eek5:

Do you see what I mean? It's not fair to treat all boys like they are jerks, just because you believe something bad about them. That just makes you into what you say they are, and you inadvertantly create the thing that you hate.

Chicks are as much into the image thing as men. We all project ourselves in a manner that we like to be percieved as. Some it's the macho thing, others it is not. It's not which sex relies more on image than the other, but the degree on the importance that each indavidual relies to project their personia.

I agree with LMB, :yeah:....Image is not what riding is for me either...
if it was image for me...I would be slim, 28 and wearing sexy leathers ...
but alas the only time everything is in it's place is when I stand on my head....

I love to ride, freedom, fresh air, exhilaration ..... there's nothing greater than after a hard week to jump on the scooter head for the coast on a balmy summers day, the smell of honey suckle, fresh cut hay and a sea breeze at the end...hmmmmmmmmmmm now that is what riding is all about for me.:drinknsin

and you're not the sukcers paying for it....most father's do pay child support!

not all bikers are retards so not all single parents are are lowlife dropkicks.

How can one person cast judgement upon another?

Assumptions are quite often way off as with generalisations.

They arent taking a dig at single parents Genie, they are taking a dig at people who have kids when they cant afford to, or dont know how to raise them responsibly. The bit "we pay" they are referring to is the increased family assistance those on the dole get for having kids. I'm sure you have managed just fine with yours, but those parents who have kids and then spend all their money on booze and drugs are just despicable!

But back on topic... a chick on a bike seems kinda intimidating to me cos she can probably ride better than me!

my most favourite teacher at school was little miss baumfield and she rode the meanest dirtiest bike i'd ever seen (13). She had my respect liike no other teacher.

It's been interesting the reactions i get from people about buying a bike. Many think I'm selfish and have no right to do this to my children - what be a happy mum. Others have been a little sceptical and think I'm all talk and won't really do this, then there the really supportive ones who have given me so much encouragement. My mother the most surprising of the lot.

Hey Genie

I dont take my bike to school very often.
The kids love it, but as I try not to let on to much about my "other life" Im not to keen on the other teachers knowing what a rebel I really am.
Same with my tattoos, Cant have the parents think anyone other than squeky clean is teaching their kid. & definatly not a biker!!!

My car broke down in december so I had no choice.
I did have a little fan club after that. Kinda sweet.

No judgement here, i'm a single mother working to support my child. But what does not impress me is those whom live on the benefit and keep having babies. The benefit is a great thing for people whom genuinely need it, but it shouldn't be a free ride for those to lazy to get off there ass! and would rather sit around wasting money on drugs, alcohol, instead of looking after there children properly!

Good on you Genie, its great you are getting a bike. As a single mother you tend to take car of everthing else and forget about doing some things that make you happy. Every Parent deserves a break to have some me time. If thats called selfish, well I'm top of the list for being selfish, I love getting out on my bike. I agree with kit. As a single parent you have alot of responsibilities and it is easy to let parenting and adult responsibilities take over everything else. I believe it is important to find balance in your life to include something you enjoy doing just for the sake of doing it. I think it's also good to let your kids see you have a passion in life and do something for pure enjoyment. My boys love the bikes, and my eldest is taking an interest in how they work, so it can't be a bad thing!

I am sure a lot of guys have already said this but I think girls on bikes are hot :) To be honest i havent really seen many hot girls on bikes. Probably because i have just taken on this passion of riding. I am sure in future i will see nice girls on bikes and hope to meet some too :P

Its an ego thing... girls on fast bikes are entering the domain (traditionally) of guys... so its unexpected and even intimidating for some guys.

My girl now rides an 08 R6 and even has the nerve to call my 675 a chicks bike when compared to her toy. She bought it off another girl, a 30yr old mother of a MotoX racer and she was an MotoX racer as well, supported by Steve Hunt Motorcycles in Innisfail QLD.
We see a ton of female riders on late model sport bikes in Townsville riding past our place on The Strand every day.

Times are changing and so are women riders! Its time us guys attitudes caught up!

Pretty much moved to Townsville OZ now. Just back for 10 weeks to complete my NDS and a Microbio research project then I'm back in OZ for good. So the gold 675 is surplus to requirements now being still here in NZ.
Yeah I rode the R6 a bit but still prefer the 675 for torque and Standup wheelies.
